“In addition, we’ll also improve the functionality of legendaries, allowing you to set their stats when out of combat to any stat combo available, so you don’t need to transmute stat changes for legendaries. Legendary gear will remain with the same tier of stats as ascended gear and will not be made more powerful than other gear, it will simply be slightly more convenient since it will no longer need transmutations to change stats.”

Can we expect a lesser version of the feature to come to ascended items?

For example, say I had an ascended hammer. I buy a store-item which adds this feature to the hammer but I will need to collect each individual stat manually to expand the collection.

So in a nutshell, Legendaries have the feature and access to all stats by default.

Ascended items need to be activated with gems and access to stats is based on what you have collected.

I don’t think it’ll be this way. I think, in all honesty, that you’ll be happy with the one set of ascended gear you get. It’s the build kittens like me that physically need a legendary of every item in order to have the ultimate flexibility rather than trying to obtain multiple gear sets, sacrificing bag slots.

i have been asking for this feature (changing stat on gear) since 2006.
i gathered much support back in those early days.

but somehow in guild wars 2, people are against it.
strange.
