The common/most popular way to farm gold ?
Have a look on the TP and see what is popular atm. Then ask yourself can you farm it. eg iron or silk or soft wood or truffles or dill etc etc. It’s boring, but effective if you invest the time.
6g/hour is an average based on running it a long time. You wont make that every hour, you make less or more (if lucky). It balances out. Dont forget LA has a very high champ bag rate with all the bosses in there atm. And the ascended back items upgrades are 1-2 g a pop as I type.
Farming FGS isn’t so much about farming for items as it is for mats. Make sure you have a good salvage kit (Masters or Mystic) and salvage everything you get that doesn’t sell for at least a gold.
Frostgorge is not the only place you can do this, but it is the easiest for me. I make a few runs here and there (about 15 minutes or so) every time I need a couple of gold.
I don’t usually run the whole circuit, and I don’t try that hard. If I were to run it for a full hour, I could probably get 5 or 6 gold (or more) worth of mats and items, not to mention, there is the outside (waaaaaaaaay outside) chance that you might be one of the lucky ones to get a precursor. I also get experience and karma, so that helps as well.
Rares (yellow) and Exotics can yield ectos and t-5 or t-6 mats, and the greens and blues will either salvage for luck/mats or sell for a silver or two.
As for farming other places, there are many guides out there that can help you more than I can.
Good luck to you!
Hey thanks for answers, I will then keep on farming in frostgorge and invest in higher tier salvage kit
With recent market prices I can make 8g+ in an hour farming Iron, but the number of runs I can do in a 24 hour period is limited to the number of alts I have with the map open.
Raingarde – Level 80 Necromancer
I’ve done that with mixed success. I ended up gearing and specing out a couple dungeon focused characters. If you do 5 dungeons a night (easy ones like CoF1/2, AC1-3, SE1,3, HOTW1, etc), you make 5g minimum plus loots/salvage.
You can also farm meta events, for which there’s normally a group of folks hitting everything as the timers pop which can net you a lot of loot to salvage or sell.
You can also farm gatherable mats like iron/plat/ori or seasoned/hard/ancient woods to sell for the folks running ascended.
You can also play the market, buying low and selling high or buying up mats when they are low, holding onto them and then selling them back when they are in high demand.
Personally, the only thing I’ve been able to do to make solid gains is dungeon running with a little iron/plat farming on the side. Just remember to use Master or Mystic kits on all low selling rares for ectos and on soulbound rares/exotics. Basic works for the rest.
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!
FGS champ train is old school money maker, but extremely boring and may make you hate this game
Consider doing metaevent trains on reset.
Easy way:
- Do all the easy dungeons path ( cof 1, AC 1,3 , CoE 1 2 3, etc )
- Orri farming, make sure you choose an easy map, check gw2 nodes
- Champ farming
- World boss
Average 7g per hour
Hard way:
- Find a partner, practice Arah, sell it. 10-12g per hour
- TP flipping. Depends on how much you flipped, this is the best way to make gold if you are good at it
Random incomes:
- Craft ascended stuffs and sell it
- Invest in things you think price gonna come up after patch then sell it
I tp flip and gamble at the mystic forge to obtain money, since playing the game really does not yield that much money.
Yesterday, I invested 423 gold in materials to craft greatswords, made 1250 of them, put them in the mystic forge and got 1 precursor worth 630 gold.
I made profit by gambling. I don’t like it though….
[Kr] Dungeon Speedclear & Fractals

Dungeons : You should be able to complete most popular path in 15-20min. That include AC (All path), CM (1 and 3), TA (Up and Foward), SE (1 and 3) and CoF (1 and 2), HotW (Path 1) and CoE (All path). If you have a speed clear group you can drop the time to 10-15min.
- 4.5 to 7 Gold per hours (gold you directly get from the dungeon)
- All the material you get from the runs. If you sell them all you can get 1 to 3 Gold.
- If you find the recipes you can use you Dungeon token to make good amount of gold. If you don’t have recipes CoE, CoF and HotW Tokens can give you rare to salvage for ectos and the rest of dungeon token to buy exotic that you salvage with BL salvage kit for inscription. This can give you 1.5 to 3 Gold more gold.
In total Dungeon will give you between 7 to 13 Gold (10 Gold per hour is a pretty good average). And that don’t count exotic drop that occurs from time to time.
TP flipping can be lucrative if you find the right commodities. I’ve been making good money flipping dyes, however you don’t want to stick to one thing, because people will catch on and the market will become less attractive.
The more you play the game the more you will find out what items are good items to try to flip. Plus there are methods you can probably look up online to quickly check Buy Orders and Sell Orders to see if it would be worth your time.
Guaranteed good farming would be doing dungeon paths. Thaddeus listed all of the quickest to complete. If you can get a routine going of hitting those dungeons you will make money in no time.
Hope this helps.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Oh, and if all else fails, and you need emergency gold to buy that special shiney, there’s always the WOTCC* method…

Karka farm is easily 10+g/hour at current prices…… super simple and easy.
JQ WvW
I’ll tell you what I do – I don’t make the most but I also don’t spend much time on it either.
I simply do Tequatl when I’m afking, usually when I’m watching TV/movies. I’ll turn the laptop on an hour before it begins to get on the map, and keep my eye on it. Tequatl only lasts for about 15 minutes, and if you get on the main server you’ll likely succeed. Tend to get a 1-2 gold each time I do it, with the odd chance to do more with good drops.
Also, I don’t know whether you enjoy WvW, but I find it a good way to earn gold too.
I’ve been playing for a little over 2 months, and have amassed about 100 gold. I spent about 80 gold converting to gems for a nice skin, and then some decent level 80 gear. It really isn’t difficult earning gold in this game.
