Out of all the cultural armor, nothing and I mean nothing looks as good as Human T3 Heavy. Show off your character and you would find out for yourself. Human T3 Heavy, hands down the best looking so far. For that look, I guess the price is worth it. But still, it’s tooooooo high. The chest piece is 30g and its RARE! Rare, not even exotic! FML

The problem is not that it is rare, as you get the cultural armours for the looks only. Then transmute it to some exotic gear with the stats you want.
The problem is it is far too expensive. It is over 10x the price of T2. It needs to either be lowered in price or let us use some useless karma to buy it. It is cultural after all, and we use karma to get the cultural weapons.

Cultural gear is like obsidian gear in gw1 .. useless and very costly, mostly meant for showoff and golddumpsite

i wonder if at the current price, maybe make it legendary. then players (like myself) won’t complain so much about having legendaries be super-unattainable. because then we can just get legendary cultural armor, instead, and feel a little bit better about it.

Well, it doesn’t matter, really, you only buy it for the looks, and nothing else, the colour of the name has nothing to do with it.

It wouldn’t be any difference if it was masterwork, rare, exotic or even legendary, it exists only for one purpose, and that is for the looks.

If you think it costs too much, then don’t go for it, there’s pleny of other armours out there with better stats and orange names, but this one, this one I will farm for, and the price is fine. I’m soon done, I just need the legguards and the helmet for a complete set, though I think I will skip the helmet, for now.

So the people against lowering the prices seem, curiously, to be the one who have already bought it. Why not lower it a bit like 30-50 gold a set and refund the difference to all players who already own it?

I mean, I fell in love with like 3 set and no, I don’t have 357 gold to spare. However 10 gold per set is a bit too easy so I think that 30-50 would definitly be perfect.

I am a fan at keeping it at the price it is. Why because it will show dedication to your desire. I want the T3 asuran cloth armor set. I wanted it long before I knew it was cultural armor. Back when they had an image of an asuran standing in the hand of a golem I loved the imagery and the armor. I wanted it from that day. Do I have it yet? No. I am working toward it piece by piece. I am leveling my asuran mesmer and by the time she hits 80 she will either have 1 piece and possibly 2. The first two I am going for are the head and the chest. After that probably the gloves. After that I will save up for the legs and then the feet. The last? The shoulders. Why the shoulders last? Because they make no visible difference in the armor.

What I am saying here is that it gives me something to work on slowly but consistently. It’s a goal. Once I get each piece I get a bit of pleasure from my efforts.

I am fine with the price as it is and no I am not rich in the game. I am simply saying each piece is fine and you can work on it. It might take months but just play the game and have fun while earning the cash (thats not too hard to do) and that way it won’t seem like a chore.

Outside of that honestly I often prefer T2 over T3 armors on several races. When they get it right and perfect like they did for me on the T3 light asuran armor then I don’t mind working for it like it requires.

I’m seeing a lot vitriol being posted about people who are supposedly wanting things on a silver platter, then I’m seeing the posts that have inspired these comments. The biggest complaint I’m hearing is that people who play a specific part of the game who have significant amounts of that currency, for instance badges and Karma from WvWvW, but little gold due to repair costs are unable to get the cultural prestige armor. These people are working hard, they’re not playing casually. Thousands of badges and hundreds of thousands of Karma are not obtained lightly. The cultural prestige armor should have multiple methods of currency acquisition in my opinion. I also find it strange that the armor is bought with money while the weapons are bought with karma. It’s weird, and lacking design unity.

Prices are fine.

Cosmetic items.

If you don’t feel it’s worth it, then don’t buy it.

Most people don’t walk around in expensive designer suits IRL either, but that’s no reason to demand they drop the prices so that you can.

It’s not that they are not worth it, they are completely out of reach for some people.
Remember the designer suits in this game are legendaries.

Really? Has ANet added additional gold sinks to certain people then?

Being casual does not make it out of your reach, it means it takes longer (as does everything else).

Please explain which people are unable to earn gold – because that’s all that’s required. A profit each time you play (or overall) means you can save enough for the cultural armour.

:edit:

And weapons are not designer suits… they are designer weapons.

We have those IRL too, stupidly expensive samurai swords, etc. Again – nothing unimaginable for a more expensive option to be on offer.

My opinion is they should be expensive but not as high as they are now. I think 80 gold for T3 would be more reasonable.

Quite so, as it is, they dont stand alone as gear, meaning that you also need to obtain a full alternate set and costly transmutation stones.

Considering the daft cost, they should at least be something that can be used on its own merits, or they should be like guild armour in that it comes with a built in transmute.

thing people seem to miss that are defendign the current t3 pricing is…

in headstart it was MUCH cheaper… comparable to where t2 pricing is now.

it was only raised a knee jerk reaction to streamers/youtubers/marathon grinders exploiting them, in particular the karma cultural items that at the time could be sold to vendors for a relatively high price.

this move was not well thought out, and happened over night entirely in reaction to those rampant exploiters.

so basically if you marathon grinded the game to 80 in the first few days, you’d had had the gold to buy yoruself a set of the t3 skins easily. but if you played at a reasonable pace, looking forward to obtaining those reasonably priced skins in due time, you missed out.

who doesn’t love wow clones?

I will not be getting any Cultural gear, although a lot of it looks nice. The problem is the cost and the category.

First off the cost per piece is pretty pricey. I find it hard just to get to 3g in this game. I am not going to waste my precious time just playing the market. When that time can be spent playing the game instead. I will never use third party programs just to get the gold, my Real life money has more important places to go towards, like car Insurance, mortgage, Etc. The cost could just be yet another way of gold sinking in game. It is unfair to players that will not ever purchase game gold with real life cash.

Second, I am not sure why the deves placed them in the Rare catagory. I can play the game as intended and get Exotic gear instead. Why would I choose Rare over Exotic gear? Better yet why would ANY player choose a Rare over an Exotic piece.

I fell Cultural gear should be able to purchase through Karma Instead, and placed in the Exotic category. That way the choice is up to players to want to be geared through the Exotic Karma dealers from Orr. or be geared with Exotic Cultural Karma dealers, or a mix of both. Not all Tiers should be bought with gold or karma but I feel Tier 3 Should be Exotic and able to be purchased through Karma instead of coin.

I think the devs did it this way to get bodies in Orr, but the problem they overlooked a little is making Orr a-bit of an annoyance then fun. Most players that finaly get in Orr, and find out how annoying the place can be, usually role an alt. Waypoint always contested leaving players to rush their way through content just to get to the next waypoint for it to be contested once unlocked and trying to avoid the vast numbers of highly aggroed, hard hitting, damage absorption mobs of Risen everywhere.

No, it was not, the Cultural Tier 3 set have always been up at 119 gold, and it has never changed.

People seems to mix this a lot, but it was not Tier 3 price that changed, it was the Vigil, Order of Whispers and Durmand Priory armour sets that changed.

Tier 3 was never touched.

Figuring out how to make gold is part of the game. Its an achievement even – bank 200 gold.
For me buying my T3 armor was not very hard. My immobulus scepter cost me more to make. Going for a legendary costs way way more, in gold and added effort.
I was amused when people messaged me asking me if i bought gold with gems, since I’ve only been doing the exact opposite.

you can make 5 gold an hour alone at level 60. dredgehaunt cliffs. start in the center, work yourself southwest. farm all the mats, dump on TP. profit. 110~ gold is not that far off for a level 80 player who can farm mithril/ori in cursed shore for like, 10-12g an hour. stop whining.

But i’d like to say that Asura T3 is butt ugly and nobody should even want it. WAI YOU MAKE ME INTO ZOJJA CLONE?
