Perhaps you can give me advice on this: I am currently working on getting the 12 Mastery Points to finish the last Itzel mastery tier. I have concluded all other masteries already, including the new ones for Season 3.
Now, I find it quite hard to gather the last two of the 12 required points and I have been thinking: would it be wiser to save those up for upcoming Season 3 masteries?
Because, frankly, you have to work extra hard for many of the Maguuma Mastery Points and the reward is not worth the time invested (like having to spent weeks for completing a single story chapters, a day for an event lane and so on). Even reaching Gold in the Adventures takes forever and I have given up on those after spending a whole day on them (I managed Gold only in four or five, the rest I achieved Silver). Not to mention the tedious Juming Puzzle on the Fire Isles etc. There really are more interesing (and rewarding) things to do in this game than farming said Mastery Points. (Yes, I already got all the easy ones like Strongboxes etc. and am going to get a couple more that are rather easy to achieve. I am currently Level 153.)
So, do you think they will add another Mastery track with each new S3 episode? Because if so, I will definitely save those points and not complete the Itzel mastery (as it’s not really worth it anyway).
The next mastery released with episode 3 will require 5 mastery points most likely, and I don’t see any reason why now ANet would decide to change their course and not introduce about 12-15 new mastery points with the release. I would say go spend your current points, its nothing to worry about.
So far they have added more mastery points with each release than the new masteries take. You’re free to spend what you have and will have new options to ‘pay’ for any new masteries added.
How about you share all the adventures u managed to get gold in and ill share all the ones I got gold in. I’m still like 4/12 for last mastery track too (excluding misc. ones like raid since im struggling on MP foremost). So what I have so far is all DS achievs, all insights and strongboxes that I need guide to hold my hand for, BF achievs, most other achievs except event chains in VB/TD cos I’m lazy and it takes too long. Haven’t gotten to EB either since I’m way behind on story (somewhere in season 2).
I have gotten gold in exactly one adventure, bronze in most and silver in a few… I’ve maxed all the masteries and have enough to max the raid ones (if I ever unlock them)… and I still have points left over.
I didn’t grind any of them. I haven’t done that many meta events. I just picked a mastery point to work on, parked a toon in the right area, swapped to it periodically, and did stuff as it came up. It wasn’t that hard to pick a different octo-lane or gerry-lane or morde-land. (The VB outposts gave me more trouble, but that’s mostly because it took me forever to figure out where the events were — I still get lost on the map.)
tl;dr just keep working on the mastery points a little a time (rather than grinding to burn out or ignoring them because they’ll take a while to complete).
