…is absolutely masterful. One of the main goals of any RPG is character immersion, and ArenaNet succeeded brilliantly! Having the NPCs carry on conversations amongst themselves is really a great way to make the player feel like they are part of a living breathing world, and it is inspiring in a way that makes me want to go and talk to them, or stand near and hear what they have to say. Some of it is revealing of lore, which is a cool way to learn backstory, some of it is insightful into the goings on of the region, and some of it is downright hilarious. Knowing that there are characters like this in game really gives a sense of what it is we are fighting to protect in Tyria. I’m just really appreciative that a company took the time to add in bits of flavor text that can make me smile or laugh or have a poignant moment as I travel through the world they created. So cookies for all, even the bookahs!

I absolutely agree! There have been many times where I have stopped and followed NPCs or just sat there and listened to some conversations play out. Its a really nice touch and I’d also like to thank the team responsible for this level of polish that they’ve put into the game. Trust me it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

It has raised the bar for future MMOs in my opinion and really does add to making it a living breathing world. Developers take notice! Especially you BioWare.

I also appreciate this, mostly because I can eavesdrop and I don’t have to participate in the conversation. I also get a kick out of some of the animations they use while they’re talking. I caught two ladies gossiping about the Queen and how she’s not married, and the gestures of one were very amusing.

Yeah I definately can appreciate the voice acting and random chatter.

Some things definately repeat a little too much if you happen to hang out in a city somewhere lol.

I agree with the repetition in cities or areas where players would gather. ie Crafting stations, banks.

The repetitive cheering you can hear when crafting in Divinitys Reach drives me nuts after a while. Also crafting in Claypool, Queensdale with the NPC saying, “Hold… Hold… Hold… Fire!” every 10 seconds. Sometimes I’d wish they’d turn and fire on him instead.

Maybe in future cities could add a little more randomness in crafting areas? Or a little less repetitiveness.

While I don’t disagree about the repetitiveness near crafting stations (That woman insisting she’s not crazy in Hoelbrak for example), the Claypool voice overs are necessary to complete the heart there. I wish there was a hotkey to mute game sounds. I can mute all of my system sounds, but that’s problematic when I’m on my guild’s TeamSpeak server.

Everytime i come to a new town/outpost w.e, i make it my business to get acquainted with every NPC’s dialogue there. First, they give good information on the general story of the zone, but they also give nice bits of info, like lore tidbits and rumours that can lead you to little dungeons where chests are, but, also because you can get some funny banter from people, and when you go around, talking to everyone in town, you do tend to run into all the NPC to NPC conversations as well.

I really think Anet needs commending on this, as it is such a great feature to put into the game, it does really add more life to the world.

P.S. if your in the Order of Whispers, you can get extra dialogue from random NPC’s.

Best idea ever it actually feels, at times, like you are apart of a web of agents.
