The more ignorant the replies, the weaker his arguments become.

Fixed it to you. I write a lot of words because I try to explain things many people in this thread seem naive to. If you think discussing on a higher level of knowledge makes things less credible then why even bother (living)?

The more words one needs to justify his point of view, the weaker his arguments become.

so when someone has many reasons that he is right that means his argument is weak? and the person with only one reason has the best argument?

not saying that applies to whatever you guys are talking about, just saying in general that makes no sense like whatsoever.

You kind of proved my point with the WoW argument the defining factor for WC was its RTS and they used the name Warcraft because WoW was part of that same universe much like GW1 and GW2 names are used.

That would be much easier to swallow if World of Warcraft had been called Warcraft 4 and if it had still had an RTS design frame. This is not the case so it sounds like comparing apples to oranges to me.

Anet should make a new title called “Guild Wars Arena”. Inspired from first Guild Wars focusing on arena pvp for competitive play. Make it next gen graphics (like Black desert online), with many skills/team combination, Good old Holy trinity, with lader prices, live TV, etc….

Like MOBA’s without the creeps, pure pvp arenas focusing on different arena style.
8v8, 4v4, CTF, Deatchmatch, etc… Weird thing there’s no game like this….

It would rock my world.

GvG would take away from the Global/World aspect. Really couldn’t care less about the addition of anything guild related. How about player housing before guild halls.

That expression wasnt meant to be directed to you specifically….but here you are, so please don’t stop, tell me more about why you must enlighten us.
And I am very sorry that I have disturbed your _ on a higher level of knowledge_ discussion and hurt your feelings.
If you feel the need to turn this into personal discussion which you hinted at with your delightful brackets, please consider using the PM system.
BTW, if you quote someone, you don’t change the quote…because then its not a quote anymore, is it?

I have another one for you: “the one who feels the need to justify, has reason to do so”

If you dont have the experience to understand all this, please dont look at me for teaching lessons.
So I suggest using the internet or real live for further research.

Back to topic, the reason why this game is called Guild Wars 2 (even tho there is no GvG system in it)….well, for those who didn’t get it by now (because maybe they live in a non-capitalistic enclave), ill make it short:

No not at all GW2 is effectually the same game as GW1 i think they even use the same system the different between WoW and WC3 is bigger then the different between GW1 and GW2 by a lot. And stop acting like GW1 was about pvp only there was a lot of pve in fact most of its “big” life was more about pve then pvp. Yes GW1 started out as pvp but it did not work all that well so it went more into pve. In may ways GW1 was missed name by your stander it was an HUB game that happen to have pvp organized by guilds (effectually just teams with the same tag name any game can say there pvp is guild ordinate because you can chose who on your team and more then like to be the ppl in the same guild therefor all pvp is GvG.)
You can have GvG in CoD if you wanted and your team is all the same “guild” and the other team is the same “guild” too. And that what is lost in this argument the ideal of what is a guild other then just a group of ppl who want to run together.

True. I guess I should go back to expressing my opinion in as few words as possible so how about this?

“Look who’s hypocritical point significantly increased in number of words.”

I think we are drifting away from my point more and more. Let’s leave it at that. All I can say is that:

The amount of threads complaining about the lack of GvG, whether justified or not, clearly indicates that the old GvG experience as a whole was an important part of the GW series for many people.
However, this concept has clearly been abandoned in GW2 (otherwise such thread wouldn’t arise), probably not the concept of GvG itself but the mixture of elements including GvG which creatured that unique experience people miss in GW2.
Whether or not Anet can get away with this change at the expense of their previous audience, those people weren’t that far off to expect a reimplementation in the sequel.

That reading way too much into it there no info that it was been abandoned in GW2 at all if any thing the adding of the new effects in spvp is showing that we may be finding a GvG like seen in GW1 in spvp soon.

I think you have given up when there is no reason to give up. You want to play GW1 but no one plays it any more they play GW2. Thing changes and you must changes with them or you will be left behind this is how the world works and how life as a human works living in the past dose not work out well for ppl in the long run. Stop being fearful of changes there is just too much things in the world that will not be the same in one day for a person to not embrace changes (to hate changes is to hate the world).

Desiring a product or service is not an indication of fear of change. To hate change may be to hate the world, but to hate specific changes is something else entirely. When a restaurant changed their marinara recipe I disliked the new flavor and began frequenting a different establishment instead. This did not mean that I disliked the world.

Oddly enough people here are asking for a change. They want GW2 to be changed to include formalized GvG content. You are the one arguing against change.

EVEN if the name refers to lore, why should that mean there can’t be a Guild vs. Guild – style player vs. player mode??? Completely irrelevant.

of cause we want GvG, but every time someone comes up with the cunning plan to further his cause with that silly name thing, it is annoying and does not help a bit. Argue why GvG would be great for the game, not because of the name.

It’s quite normal that people expect GvG in GW2 considering there was GvG in GW1.

“Lore reason” doesn’t cut it. It’s not a argument at all, it’s an excuse.

There are a lot of things that Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have that Guild Wars 1 does. Guild Wars 2 and 1 are completely different games, the only thing they share really is being RPGs and the lore. But Guild Wars 2 is an MMO, and Guild Wars 1 is not. Anybody who bought this game thinking there was going to be GvG did zero research into the game.

Anet said that there would be GvG in GW2.

When did they say that? Got a link to that news?

So there are other games that have made compel shift in there game play type yet still used the old name WoW and the WC games are great example of this. WC 1 to 2 where full RTS WC3 was more of an RTS with a RPG like hero system and WoW is comply apart from the WC system to where its no longer an RTS. How can they hold the name Warcraft? Because the story was the same lines and the world that was being played in the same even though they where very different games.

The difference is WoW is a spin-off that was never intended to be a true “Warcraft” installment. It carries the name and theme but it is not Warcraft 4. If this game had been called Guild Wars: the Dragon Wars etc. instead of part 2, I would feel differently and I would probably be asking where part 2 is. That’s not what it is however, it’s a bonafide sequel carrying the franchise tag.

Final fantasy is another example of holding the same name by mostly though story alone.

Final Fantasy games have different story lines. They are similar in that there are chocobos, a person named Cid, etc. but the story and lore are not shared. The gameplay has evolved considerably since the games have been released over the span of several decades. However, if you compare each game to it’s predecessor/sequel you will find fairly similar gameplay. A better comparison would be GW1 to Final Fantasy VII and GW2 to Final Fantasy Tactics. Tactics was not at all a true FF title and they made that clear, they didn’t try to present it as such. Granted GW1 and GW2 are in roughly the same genre, but still vastly different.

No not at all GW2 is effectually the same game as GW1 i think they even use the same system the different between WoW and WC3 is bigger then the different between GW1 and GW2 by a lot.

Not only is the difference between WoW and WC3 a poor comparison, since WoW is essentially a spin-off and not a sequel, but GW1 and GW2 are so very, very different. We can discuss that if you’d like. I would be happy to highlight the obvious differences as well as the nuances.

And stop acting like GW1 was about pvp only there was a lot of pve in fact most of its “big” life was more about pve then pvp. Yes GW1 started out as pvp but it did not work all that well so it went more into pve.

GW1 offered PvE, but was primarily about the PvP as it continues to be even today. Even at release in 2005, you could play through PvE if that’s what you wanted to do. The PvP thrived and you would realize that if you were actually involved with it. I think it was a surprise to Arenanet, if anything, that players were so keen on farming through the PvE.

No Jski, GvG was something very specific within the context of GW1. It was a well defined PvP format.
