A video showing the Temple of the Silent Storm map in GW2. The content of the video is kinda irrelevant to the subject of my thread. So this is the official stream of GW2, I suppose they have a good high-end PC for streaming and recording, and yet…the game runs awful. Why is it so hard nowadays to release a well optimized game? We have many examples of a bad optimized recently released games – swtor, or rift (2 years already and 0 improvements whatsoever). Are you guys working at all on the GW2 optimization? Or do we really need a 3000$ PC to run this game smooth?

It’s the stream that has low FPS, obviously.

My $1200 PC (with GTX 660 Ti) runs GW2 maxed out, with added SweetFX, at between 45 and 60 FPS – only feature that cripples the FPS is super-sampling of textures.

Surely, it could be even more optimized, but you evidently don’t need even a $1500 PC to run it in full force, let alone a $3000 one.

Send an Asura who knows math. Problem solved.

My pc was about 600 run everything at max…. 40 to 60 fps.

If your talking about the culling problem that is confermed to be working on and we will see part of that fix on the 28th. It is requiring them to completly rewright how character render on the screen.

I have about 1200$ pc too, and my fps in LA is from 35-50.
It’s not about collision problem, i think basic game preformance has some bad graphic problems. I did play other mmo’s with high graphic engine too (i think i can’t mention) and i had about 60-70 fps. And i know it is a difference betwen offline single player game and mmo but still some basic graphic engine things are visible. I mean i have 73 fps in Far Cry 3 all maxed out, but in GW2 I have 35-45 fps in LA, rarely 50.

I know this game has nice LOD, Bloom, TXAA, Supersample etc… still that shouldnt be problem for today’s PCs. And still with all + many particle effects it doesnt have some extra ultra realistic graphic to eat your CPU and GPU alive.

i5 3570 3,4 ghz, 8GB viper 1800mhz, nvidia asus gtx660ti 2gb oc

In the past, they also said that game will be playable even on mid range pc. My friends mid range pc having 25 fps max. Many ppl on net are dissapoint. 4 of my friends quit this game just because of that preformance problems. They will come back when anet fixes these things if they do.

Also sry for my english and sry if this looks like QQ, but im just writing the facts that are true and if you do answer to me that there are many driver fixes and so on… il say it doesnt help. Its just the game.

Also no matter what i still like this game

My computer is roughly $800 USD and runs this game on 30-50 frames at 1900×1080 on supersampling.

Comparing a single player game to an MMO is ridiculous, there are tons of performance eating commands used in an MMO that a single player game does not have.
