this is obviosly pay for win now im farming orr so i can sell it on the tp and whit this they clearly give gem buyers advantage over us that we play standard pls debate on this ? i think this item must be removed from the game i didnt buy this game for pay for win cuz right now gatering materials are realy good prised on the tp and they sell fast pls arena net dont delite this topic ty in advance and sorry for bad english

You probably don’t even get the amount of gold back that you used to buy it with. Unless you use real money, but converting gems to gold may be more beneficial than that.

It’s probably just something to improve Black Lion Chests~ doesn’t really matter to me.

It is a pretty bad booster, but at least it is useful compared to something like rejuvination one.

The ability to pay for gold has always been an option in the game. If someone wants to use a gathering booster and spend an hour gathering instead, I’m not sure how that’s really different.

Doesn’t seem much different from the gathering boosts we can get from other means. Nor the boosters for obtaining gold, or anything else in game. I can’t see pay-to-win here. Just my opinion, of course.

P2W requires there to be competition (you can’t “win” at farming unless you can steal nodes). This is a pay for convenience item.

If gems to gold (though I’m confused why someone wouldn’t just use the gems to get the booster) wouldn’t be worth it, and this item will allow someone to make an epic amount of gold, use the gold you have been earning by selling mats and convert it to gems, get the booster, and it will pay for itself in no time! Win/win! =)

That means you’d need to be able to make about 25 gold in a normal hour of gather-grinding before that +33% would come out equal.

I haven’t been pure-gathering, but I have been hanging out in T2 to T4 areas the last week and picking up every node along my way, and it’s not paying anywhere close to that. I’d like to hear what more experienced gather-hoarders are pulling.

I use come up with a path where I visit clumps of nodes ignoring farther away ones, and run it on eight characters a night. I think I make very close to but under 10g an hour doing this on average. It’s nowhere close to the 25g/hour you mentioned you would need to make this pay off.

I’ll offer a more fair comparison. The gather boosters can be bought in bulk for 110 gems each. That’s 6.15 gold (assuming 100 gems for 5.59 gold, GW2Spidy’s current figure) or a break even need of ~18.5 gold per gather-hour.

I don’t always use boosters, but when I do, I get them from Black Lion Chests….

Oh, ick. If you’re buying the boosters with gold-to-gem, that raises the bar quite a bit. At a rate of 100 gems for 7.75 gold, that’s 8.5 gold for a 110 gem booster. That means you’d have to be able to make 25.5 gold in a normal harvesting hour just for the booster to pay for itself.

Yeah .. around 9-10 Gold is normally the best i can make in an hour if i have really some very good spots that i can harvest with 5-7 characters .. if i don’t find such good spots and have to run alot its maybe 6 g.
