In game, when exploring the open world, people will usually help (silenty, but help) someone doing a difficult Dynamic Event. When doing World Bosses or Temples, people will often engage in light conversation (“Hello good sir, this priestess lad is rather bothersorme, is she not?” “Indeed!” “Rather” and so on). When doing Caudecus Manor explorable mode, people feel united by the unique experience of actually finding a group for that dungeon, and so not only they are nice to each other, but also they become Best Friends Forever.

When doing CoF P1, you will likely get kicked in the last fight because you made the team lose 0.1 seconds in the middle of the dungeon (n00b).

Right now, all elitists are gathered in the same place – CoF P1, and a few still at Fractals. With the incoming nerf to CoF and increase in gold drops for playing daily the other dungeons, the elitists – the very bottom of the cesspool, as far as elitism is concerned – will likely spread to the other dungeons.

This is an issue. We don’t want to play with them, and they don’t want to play with us, lowly mortals. Due to the lack of a LFG feature, and considering that ArenaNet’s own LFG will likely need a few revisions before it actually works, we will need some other way to deal with the issue.

I would like to propose, then, the definitive solution: the kitten filter.

All accounts with a Berzeker warrior who has set foot in CoF will be marked as kittens. The same for Berzeker guardians in full CoF armors. And mesmers in CoF armor too, since no sane mesmer would ever be caught in something that ugly. The kitten players will have a small cat icon at the bottom left of their portraits in game.

All players would, then, have a slider in options to completely ignore the kitten players. This would prevent talking, joining groups, meeting through the incoming LFG tool, and watching particle effects (no no burning kittens in dragon wings).

This way, kittens would still be able to play together and quickly identify each other, and we mortals would have an easy way to get rid of them. Comments, increments, applause?

“I think that players are starting to mature past the point of wanting to be on that
treadmill, of being in that obvious pattern of every time I catch up you are going to
put another carrot in front of me” – Mike O’Brien right before Ascended weapons

Why do I get the feeling you are a non-zerker geared player who is not experienced in CoF who went to gw2lfg and tried to sneak your way on to a full zerker team that clearly posted “full zerker and experienced only”?

Don’t roll with the elitists if you can’t hang.

(not saying this is the case, just what it sounds like)

If you don’t like elitists then don’t join them.

Zerk runs are synonymous with speed runs.

If you fail miserably, you will get kicked.

Eras- we need to extend your kitten filter to the forums also. We are not even a full page long yet and here they are being holier-than-thou.

+9001 to the kitten filter idea.

This OP’s post is more elitist than anything I have seen in CoF.

It’s funny because every opinion I have, OP is directly opposite to it. It’s like we’re nemesis’ ;D.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

God kitten it Erasculio…. every now and then, you make a solid thesis that I just can’t argue with. >:\

MY biggest worry is that these players will still keep trying to do dungeons and also end up in our Arah and AC runs where we’ll have to explain to them how the rest of the game works. …. OR they’ll much-more likely end up in our Orr Temple fights where they just become a liability to everyone by standing directly on top of the Fragile NPC’s we have to escort (INSTEAD OF OFF TO THE SIDE WHERE THEY SHOULD BE) and only halfway kill all those mobs… which instantly puts the mobs into Enraged Status along with huge aggro & then those mobs just instantly nuke our Escort NPC’s too. Not kidding or unjustly generalizing these players either… I’ve watched them stand right on top of Jonez and then snipe the champs Wraith & then the Priest himself like only true idiots would after failing to read map chat where a Commander already specifically told them NOT TO DO THAT.

….It’s similar to why we’d never invite Fendi shadowfarmers to our DOA runs… We didn’t want half-dead mobs scattering with full Enrage Buff. There was a reason we ran lots of spike Mesmers & CC there instead of Sliver gimmicks & COF bond-monk Smiting.

.

It’s funny because every opinion I have, OP is directly opposite to it. It’s like we’re nemesis’ ;D.

Get used to it, there’s atleast 8 more years of it ahead if my past 5 years on the wiki has been anything to go off of.

Have never done so. Don’t plan to. Quite capable, but why? Not why I play GW2.

I don’t believe the whole population of GW2 is. I believe it’s a very small minority that stand out, not because of player skill, or ability to spec/gear, but because some of the behavior exhibited is the very antithesis of the community-oriented play this game and its players promote and prefer.

If their ability to continue to farm is removed, they will find the next, easiest path of least resistance.

I have no problem with their preferred playstyle. Only with the immature behavior that often, but not always, accompanies it.

Don’t see the need to “mark” any particular group of players.

Keep your list of friends nearby and let the others keep to their own.

-Simplistically dismissive (not of you, Nuka Cola, but of the whole issue)

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014

What dungeon will be the next AC/CoF once CoF is nerfed? We all know that is what will happen. They will find it and all go there and grind it over and over.

CoE is already farmed and it gives quite a good amount of gold through charged cores/lodestones.

That’s why it’s a feeble attempt to nerf anything us farmers do. We just move on to the next one.

After CoE it’ll be TA1

What if I told you…

Alienating zerker “elitist” from your group simply cause they’re zerkers makes you an elitist yourself?

Yeah it is farmed… but that farming was started by True Elitists, not pure Rote-memory / rote-build pseudo Elitists. Most COF1 players will have to evolve beyond their First-Tier Optimal playstyles in order to start farming it.

You’re also ignoring the fact here that Colin told us Lodestones would start dropping from ALL CHAMPIONS. So there goes the biggest reason we farmed COE and pretty much only COE for the charged variety in the first place. (AR dungeon will also be addded to Fractals which will bring that up to 2 possible instances inside Fractals that can also drop/salvage Charged stones …. and then possibly a THIRD route if Kiel pulls out an upset here and the Reactor Disaster becomes the next Fractal after that)

This is the most exclusive and elitist thing I have ever seen in a game.

I get that it is a joke, but it’s not really funny. That’s like thinking it’s funny to be bully’s or exclude someone because of race or ethnicity or whatever. Exclusion isn’t fun and this is quite a shameful post. -1. Being a hypocrite doesn’t solve anything.

I understand where you are coming from, and have probably had bad experiences. I personally have run a few CoF runs and have never had any bad experiences or kicks. Granted, I mostly dungeon with guildees and pick up a pug once in awhile.

And what about someone that got CoF armor back in September (because I genuinely liked it, and there was no P1 speed runs back then everyone forgets it used to be one of the harder paths in the game before it was nerfed) and I just happen to main a warrior that doesn’t farm CoF P1 on principle?

@ OP not sure if serious :P
But if you are, I’m glad you’re not a developer.

Sure. And then if farming champions becomes profitable we’ll just head over there. Heck we’d probably chain-run Cursed Shore.

More power to all of you who can! …. Especially if you manage to take down the Risen Baron (1 hitting AOE shadowsteps on a 3 second cooldown) and Jester Champ on Steps …followed by the Champ Wraiths towards Grenth (20-60 stacks of Defiant to get through sometimes before it can be interrupted). And this doesn’t even begin to touch on the fun your pure Melee teams (who never had to dodge or block in COF) will have against Champ Aboms & Gorillas, heh…

Which is actually something that would get me to break off levelling alts and go to Cursed Shore again. If the plan for champs really works out its a win for everybody.

A while back me and my fiancée decided to do some COF runs to make a little side gold. So I posted on the looking for group web site, but was very clear that we were inexperienced and not doing a speed run. And it just so happens we got a zerker. He went down on the first boss. Then when I was half way done reviving him he abandons the party, and I get a rather nasty “GTFO NOOB” message in my mail box.

I am all for the kitten filter. The zerkers have taken over COF P1 to the point that they don’t even pay attention to the lfg site; they just assume that if you’re running you must be doing a zerker speed run.

OP, this is funny as hell! :p I dont and have never done CoF1 the “elite” way. Our so called speedruns largely consist of burning down what foes we need to as fast as we can, no pressure, and skipping mobs we can skip. No gear or class exclusivity and no mandatory time limit crap. We (my guild and I) really frown on that kind of… exclusivity.

That said, if ever anything like ur suggestion gets done, id feel tempted to be an elitist because of the cat icon oohh id so like to have a cat icon on my portrait.

Pugging in this game I have come across many players who seem to want to talk down to other players in group. I insta kick them usually after the second comment. Putting up with raging in map chat I can deal with. They want to be elitist in my group, cya. It takes nothing to fill a spot. Can 4man most things anyway.

I’ve joined zerk runs, I’ve joined not so zerk runs. Honestly, my mind goes off timer when I enter dungeons so being fast or not means nothing to me. Even though I often may run bezerker(because I have learned to dodge better and have learned to survive with it), I won’t join a group that ask players to ping gear. That right there lets me know what type of mind set for gaming you have and I don’t want to deal with drama in a video game from people I don’t know. I’ve been through two real life wars, don’t need drama from some person who couldn’t punch himself out of a wet paper bag.

OP, My Mesmer has a set of CoF armor and I think it looks fine. I don’t wear the helm though when I do put it on. Subjective is subjective.

In all honesty, let the speed runners have their groups. I don’t see a problem with it. They aren’t the only groups going around. Start your own groups, run with guildies. I do both. I do like to pug though…adds a set of unforeseen challenges I’d like to think.
