So after the expansion release season 2 will only be in the store? I will no longer have free access to it? I do not mind paying for them in the future its just thats like what 10 more dollars on top of the 60 for the expac if I want to see the previous story before I start season 3.

If you have the access to LS2 then you’ll keep having access even after HoT, but if you don’t then you’ll have to buy it no matter or what.

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Season Two is already Gem-store exclusive, and has been for some time. The release of Heart of Thorns has no impact on its accessibility. If you have already unlocked the season, it will stay unlocked. If you have not yet unlocked it, you can do so, now or after the release of HoT, for Gems (obtained either by exchanging Gold for Gems, or purchasing Gem with cash).

Good luck.

I thought it was unlocked if you bought the game at all which I did a while back, or do I need to be level 80 first? And does that mean I have it for all my characters?

It was unlocked by logging in during the active time of each chapter. If you did not log in during those two weeks (or longer for a couple of chapters), then that chapter will cost gems. Any chapter you logged in for — didn’t have to play, just had to fully load into the game for a second or two — will remain accessible and will not be charged in the bundle of chapters you buy.

Once unlocked you have it forever, for all your characters on that account, even those not yet made. They can play the chapters once they are 80, with no prerequisite of doing the Personal Story.

That does not make sense if season 2 was out when I logged in then I should have season 2 why would it be only for 2 weeks?

Here is some information on Living World/Story Seasons:

Unlocking Living World episodes

Episodes of the Living World must be unlocked in order to play them. Unlocked episodes can be accessed by any level 80 character on your account. There are two methods for unlocking episodes. Episodes can be unlocked for free simply by logging in to any character during the episode’s original release window. This lasts until the next episode is released, usually two weeks, although it may last longer under certain conditions. After the release window, players can unlock the episode for 200 Gem.png. The journal will indicate this with a “lock” icon and a “Buy Now” button.

This should be updated to include the fact that you can buy bundles of Episodes at a reduced cost in Gems.

The individual episodes of LS2 were unlocked for free if you logged in at any point during the two week period while they were active. If you don’t have them unlocked and want to play them you will need to purchase them from the gemstore.

So you do not unlock the entire season just episodes of the seasons?

Yes. You might find it informative to read in the Wiki how Living Story works.

Good luck.

Season 2 didn’t unlock all in one go. It was released 1 chapter at a time, just like Season 1 and if you logged in at any point during the 2 weeks each one was released you got it unlocked on your account for free. (You didn’t need to play it, or even look at it, just log into a character during that time.)

If you didn’t unlock it that way you have to pay 200 gems per chapter, or buy the bundle pack from the gem store (which is priced based on the number of chapters you need to unlock – so it’s always slightly cheaper than buying the missing ones separately).

Regardless of how you got it once it’s unlocked it’s available to every character on your account – including ones you create after unlocking it – without you having to pay anything else.

If you’re not sure what you’ve got already you can check even if you don’t have any level 80 characters on your account: Log in to any character, go to the Hero Panel and click on the Story Journal (star icon). Select Living World Season 2 from the drop-down list and look at the icons next to each chapter’s name. If it’s a padlock then you don’t have that one unlocked (selecting these chapters will also prompt you to buy it for 200 gems). If the icon is a chest then it’s unlocked and will be available when you’re level 80.

(The icon can also be a white star or achievement symbol, but I think only after you’ve played the chapter for the first time, and if you’d done that you’d know it was unlocked.)
