The missing Guild Halls
Wouldn’t you rather grind for Ascended equipment?
I’m pretty sure you’d rather grind for Ascended equipment.
Omg this this make it happen!! Anet I will throw money your way ,please please please, also make it like minecraft please, like if we could upgrade trees, upgrade house size, upgrade guards, upgrade a everything. collect resources, screw it if you made it a sadnbox style were every member could have an instance within an instance and build his/her own room or house , make it into a villa or a village or a town. IDC if it isnt lore driven , id still pay money for this!!

Be careful what you wish for!
My theory is exotic guild halls were planned during development. But then people complained: there’s no end game with these things!
So, rather than break the “Guild Hall Manifesto”, they pulled them for later release.
Now the choice will be run weekly time-gated Guild Missions for tokens to grind out your Ascended Guild Hall, or go the extra mile for a Legendary Guild Hall that levels up as you do.
Or, spend gems and go directly to Go.
So long as gem sales remain at current or growing levels, Anet has no incentive to do anything more than they already are.
lol guild halls in 6 months for 2000 gems from the store

I’d GLADLY pay 4000 gems/200g for it even…. they just need to hurry the hell up with it.
Purchasing Guild Halls with merits + influence + gold would be nice.
It really should be in the game by now…would have been an AMAZING anniversary gift…sigh*
I want a guild hall on an aetherblade ship.

I’m not sure what the financial situation was; perhaps that they HAD to launch early just to make the money for the rest of the game…
But a “not half-@SSed version of the Guild Halls” should have been ready Day 1.

They have been saying they dont want kitten guild halls since last november… thats also when they put it on the back burner for living story garbage… GH > more living story stuff IMO

My question is: When, if ever, will Guild Halls be implemented in the game? I remember them being a very useful and fun part of the original game.
If you aren’t familiar with the first game, a Guild Hall is an instanced zone that can be purchased by your guild. It’s essentially a Guild HQ. You can buy things, repair, trade, meet up, etc.
Here’s a video showing off some Guild Halls (they each have their own theme) and how they are used:
That video makes the concept of guild halls seem pretty dull honestly.
I like Guild Zones that allow guild members to build the buildings themselves, like in Rift.
Guild halls and player housing are pretty much my only real wish for this game. But I guess how they implement them is a big concern for Colin and company. TBH, I feel like they could easily put something together to fill that void. In other games, just having a room to manipulate the environment of and store trophies in was enough for me. However, it sounds like they want to do something unique. They’ve shown us that they’re more than willing to retroactively reward us for things, so I guess there’s no concern that we won’t be rewarded with trophies once they develop these things.
Guild halls were great for what they were. They gave you a one-stop shopping, bank, and PvP skirmishing, and also allowed you to have a place to gather before embarking on a GvG mission or dungeon run.
Playing devil’s advocate for a moment here. IF the devs were to introduce guild halls in GW2, what would be the point? There is no GvG, and there is no 1v1. We already have places that have banks and TPs, and those who are really into it can take over an empty building and party til your heart’s content.
What I am afraid of is that they will implement Halls similar to what Aion did with player housing. They made almost all of the “good” furnishings and accouterments temporary, so you’d have to buy them every few weeks. In fact, a lot of their housing was “rented” instead of purchased, and if you didn’t pay your weekly rent, you lose your house. That is the LAST thing I want to see.
I feel like guild halls would be a lot of fun. Instead of roaming around the world crafting or using the TP with hordes of people you’ll never see or interact with again, youll be doing those things with guildies, building familiarity and actual relationships and friendships in the game. Building a community is what the devas have been striving for, is it not? Its not enough that we don’t have to compete for things. You see somebody once at an event among 40 others, and that’s it. But when you see somebody at the same place everyday, you build something more substantial. I remember an mmo I played years ago, and the happiest memories I have of it are a brief time when me and a few others would sit in the same place and chat every day. It only lasted a few months before they all quit, but I used to go back to that place every once in a while and somebody from that group would be there out of the blue… best experience in a gaming community I ever had. I think that’s what people are missing in GW2.
Purchasing Guild Halls with merits + influence + gold would be nice.
This would be the worst thing Anet could do with guild halls. It would be saying guild halls are not for small guilds or guilds who see guild missios are a waste of time and influence.
So long as gem sales remain at current or growing levels, Anet has no incentive to do anything more than they already are.
By that logic, no-one has any incentive to do anything. Blizzard had no incentive to make their game better because they weren’t losing subs. You will never work harder, unless you get paid less.
Ridiculous.
However good gem sales are, they can get worse, or they can get better, and ArenaNet want more people playing, more people talking about the game, and yes, more people buying gems. So they have huge incentive to do more.
I mean, I don’t mean to get all Jack Donaghy on you, but games are like sharks, Lemon… er I mean Neural, they need to keep moving forwards or they drown. If ArenaNet just stop development on GW2 and sit on it (or develop content and don’t deploy it), then the game will gradually but steadily get less popular, and player numbers, and with them, gem sales, will drop.

I don’t think those latter guilds need guild halls. I do agree small guilds need cheap guildhalls, perhaps yes ones that don’t require merits, but larger guildhalls would certainly justify a merit cost – and influence is just gold (2g/1000 influence), really, so even if you guild is 2 l337 4 MISSIONZ, you could just buy that, so there’s no real excuse.
The “worst” thing GW2 could actually do is make guildhalls the only form of housing in the game and leave nothing for personal housing – oh or even worse, make there be a small number of actual, physical-in-the-world guildhalls and only let the highest bidder have them (it’s been done).
Indeed, there are a lot of worse options!

Hahahaha… You know they say this about everything and then never go through with it, do you?
It’s a must and it’s really missing from this game.
Purchasing Guild Halls with merits + influence + gold would be nice.
The problem there is that Anet would release them with a cost of a billion influence or something silly like that. The smaller guilds, of which there are many, have been proven to be more of an annoyance to Anet than part of the community.
I could understand influence and gold used to get guild halls but merits is too much.
@Eurhetemec Yes making us bid on Guild Halls would be far worse. I have also played a game where this has happened. Also adding a fee to keep your guild hall would suck too.
Players are begging for guild vs guild. Why can’t we get guild halls and 2 guilds can ‘war’ each other. They are given an instance with each of their guild halls on each end of the map 2forts style and you have to run in and get a ‘relic’ and get it back to your base. Would be hella cool.
We need guild halls. They should have been there on day 1.
Never saw the attraction. Even in the video when the guy asks the girl what they are for she says, “It’s where you have a cup of tea and scone with your friends.”
What?

kitten contest.
Imagine if tequatl dropped a guild banner for each guild that killed him. The first guild on your server to kill him got another type of banner. It would show off the guild to others and remind the players the type of community they belong to.
It’s fun and in MMO’s its often the little things that make a difference. I’m honestly surprised MMO’s are still released without some of the more basic things like player/guild housing, mounts, inspectable player biographies, etc.
I and my guild would really appreciate guild halls. Even if it was a cash shop deal, I’d spend the money. Having to guest to other servers to host guild events, in order to avoid griefing, is not really the same thing.

As it should be. Small Guilds and ones who don’t run guild missions shouldn’t get the rewards of those who put time and effort into their guilds.
While Guild Halls would be nice it’s not really important. Honestly, Guild Halls in GW1 were just some space only for your guild you had, nothing else. We met up there for some events like dungeons or elite missions, but not more. You can do that as well at a different location (we meet up in Divinity’s Reach if we do Guild Missions).
There are a lot more important things that need to be implemented or done.
