Why is everyone and their grandmothers wearing the zephyr rucksack?

Represents that they have strength runes.

I don’t have one, but considered buying one: it looks cool imho. Fits some characters or styles like an adventurer or wanderer visiting different lands and having everything at his/her disposal.

I haven’t seen that many people using it.

That said, it was reintroduced during the Festival last month and thus the prices on it dropped significantly (at one point it was up above 100g prior to said event) so its likely some people that had their eye on it but weren’t willing to pay the high price finally picked it up and started using it when the price dropped.

I’m personally not a fan of the item. The design of the item itself is nice, but its way oversized. I’d consider using it only if it was, like, half that size.

Because, DAT TOUCAN!

Seriously though, I’ve had it since the first festival mostly for the above reason. I love it on my engineer.

It is just a new fashion coming into mostly wvw. In some guilds all warriors/guardians are charrs with zephyr rucksack, and all ranged characters are asuras.
Just fashion.

It’s even more people that got Twilight or Sunrise than the rucksack.

It’s huge, and blocks enemy’s view.

It was very expensive, so they are showing off.

The Zephyr rucksack contains the toucan which gives you tactical PvP advice on the go. Before I started wearing my rucksack, I was losing 1v1s to up-leveled bear-bow rangers. Now, with the help of the rucksack toucan, I am fighting1v5s against all warrior comps and winning like a boss! Thanks Zephyr Rucksack!

I wonder what is more expensive, Light of Dwayna or the Rucksack? By the ways, a bird told me that the toucan is a cousin of the parrot who made his nest in the sixth Rune of the Pirates. No wonder they are so wise.

I considered using the rucksack for this content. Yeah a bit clichee maybe, but that would not phase me. However it does not work for my character at the moment …

Because its big. A lot of people pick skins because they really stick out or catch your eye and the massive rucksack definitely gets noticed. Its the same reason people pick max size characters except it doesn’t inherently make you bad at jumping puzzles.
The pavillion stuff gave people a fairly easy opportunity to grab them again so they did. You’ll notice lots of items get super popular for a while then when the next big flashy item comes out you’ll barely see them anymore.

It’s all about the IMMORTAL toucan. It survives being in water, lava and even a wvw zerg stampede.

I got it back when the basaar was first around and sold it for 13g.

The rucksack, wind/sun/lightning catcher, and desert rose were drops from the equipment boxes you buy using materials.
