I haven’t seen too many threads on this, but the new dyes make armor look so amazing. They look so much more detailed, I love it. I don’t see myself ever using any other dyes again haha.

Check out this comparison, I tried to get dyes that were similar in color to the new ones that I personally had.

Anet, please release more dyes that are like this. It makes my armor look so much more detailed and so much more satisfying to wear.

The first pic is with dyes that were similar but not the new ones.
The second pic is with Charred and Cinders
The third pic is with Deep Glacial and Cinders
The fourth is with dyes that were similar to deep glacial and cinders.

I personally wanted them, but I don’t have as much gold that I could get it right now, so instead my boyfriend showed me some very vibrant older colors that cost less and still loot good. (like for example blood dye).
Maybe one day I’ll earn enough to buy them

My only issue with them is that they are gated behind RNG and since the game hates me I don’t want to waste money on those (I will only get the greens lol)

you can buy them off TP too for around 10G each.

Nope, I made over 100g selling them for outrageous prices the first couple of days they were out.

My only concern with the new Dyes is that they dont have “Dye” in their names.

TP doesnt have a dye category so I usually browse dyes by searching for “Dye”

If I didnt know these dyes’ names, how would I know that they even exist?

i went for flame and glacial sky, dont like the others. really nice colors.

I would have instantly bought the new dyes if:
-They were account-wide unlocks.
-Sold in a set without any RNG involved.

I honestly wish I could afford them on the TP or otherwise.
This month is tight for me in game and elsewhere :P
I really hope they release more dyes like this in the future, it is a really nice addition.

edit: Yes we need to be able to buy it outright. buy the gems , buy the product. \

Unfortunately, the Flame Dye and the Frost Dye kits contain both old dyes and new ones so 6/21 dyes are new, chances are, you will get a random green dye (That you may already have) if you open the kit

If bought some and didn’t get a single new dye. Again I was fooled into the RNG real money trap. You’re better off buying gems und converting them to gold and buying the new colors or farm the gold. Just wait a bit until the prices have settled.

These dyes will be permanent or only untill the end of F&F?

I can understand why people wouldn’t buy them via chest. They were based in RNG so that more people would buy keys and gems, this was obvious. It wasn’t too hard to save up for the ones I got. I did about 6 meta events a day (about 2-3 hours) and my daily, was able to afford about 40g worth of dyes (3 of them that were worth 40g all together, some have halved in price since then) in a week.

Keep in mind that these dyes are not supposed to be perm. So they will eventually get taken off of the TP (probably the 30th) and the prices will begin to skyrocket, so if you plan on buying them buy them quickly.

It says on the TP that the pick is a time limited offer, it would also say so for the dyes if they were. I hope.

You know what is ridiculous? They have regular dyes mixed in with the new cool dyes. I bought some of each and got nothing but regular dyes. I don’t participate in the RNG stuff in the game and didn’t know that you even had a chance of getting some crappy dye that wasn’t one of the new ones or I wouldn’t even have bought them.

Best be is to do like one of the previous posters said and buy the dye(s) you want with in game gold.

To be fair though: that’s stated explicitly in the item description. I just thought the chance for the new dyes would be higher. I literally wasted like 10€ on dyes that are worth a few silver.

If they gate something behind the RNG wall, do not buy it if you want them to use the RNG wall less often in the future. Vote with your wallet and all that jazz.

Interesting-

So the dyes on the gem store are not just color dyes, but actual texture replacements which add more resolution / detail, like an “HD” texture pack in some games.
