The announcement for the new daily system made it sound like it’s a better system, and will make it easier for players to get achievement points and so. But look at today’s dailies; if you scrutinize the list of available options, you’ll realize that the only options that are remotely friendly to newer players are: Daily Shiverpeaks Miner, Daily Fields of Ruin events completer (maybe if they are high enough!), and…that’s about it when it comes to PvE!
Newer players can’t really craft an exotic just yet or run a fractal. And I’m not aware that the game caters only for PvP players, or intends to force PvP participation on them; but all the other ways to get the Daily completionist today are PvP ways.
The older daily system was much more newbie-friendly; you just had to kill a number of mobs, any mobs and anywhere, or get a variety of them, complete events anywhere, salvage a number of items, and so on. It was actually easier that way, and more newbie-friendly. The new system could be easier, but only for a certain type of player who has access to certain levels of maps, content, and resources (exotic materials and high enough crafting level).
Maybe some rabid fans will respond saying how “super easy” it is to craft an exotic or do this or do that, but I’m sure that any objective person who sits down and analyzes the current options, at least today’s options, will realize how very newbie-unfriendly they are.
I hope that these remarks can convince some developers and decision makers to revise the way they’re going about picking the types of dailies we get nowadays. I’m not a new player, but I’m finding it difficult now to have a family member or friend feel like their dailies are accessible for them being new players; we should be enjoying doing dailies together, even when one partner is a veteran and the other is a new comer who should feel welcome.
