I can understand ANet’s effort to make the red rings that warn you to be more “visible”, however the new rings are just annoying to me for the following reason: It looks like flames and therefore it confuses me. For example the spider queen will spit poison at you. When the red ring appears. I keep thinking that I am “burning” but in reality i’m not.
One might argue that I would be “burning” in poison if i don’t get out of the way. Spike trap? Burning rings. For its intent, the rings are ok but visually it does confuse some people, like me. I like the old red rings on the ground better, we don’t need more particle effect. Does anyone feel the same way?

Think there’s a few threads on this, as well as suggestions on a toggle for the old style. It was definitely a good thing for colorblind players, and has received mostly (imo) good feedback.

It was made like this so that people that are color blind could actually see the ring. It doesn’t confuse me, but allowing players to change the color of the ring would have been better and easier to do.

I wouldn’t mind a toggle, but this is much better for colorblind people and there’s a whole lot of us out there…more than most people think. Some estimates put it as high as 1 in every 6 males. 10% is a safe bet.

While it might be annoying, I hope they don’t revert it. Obviously a toggle to turn it off or switch it back would be far better.

Of course, the old way in tall grass or underwater you’d have problems seeing the rings.

I totally understand it is for the color blinded people and also more noticeable. But an option to toggle it off would be a nice.

I havent noticed different rings the past few days :o. Ill go check it out when i get back home from work!

As a colorblind person this simple change was one of the best things that have happened in a long time, now I can actually see and react to stuff before it blows my face off.

And I also agree that it should be toggleable for those who preferred the old style.
