The path of downfall?
it will still be here,… every day getting closer and closer to a generic MMO. I wouldn’t invest in this game to be honest but if you like what you see then go ahead. Don’t expect content though, they already showed over and over again where they put focus on.
Buy gw2 client on discount (-50%) and play it. Hold your money for gems until they do something you truly like. If you don’t like it leave. One less costumer for Anet. They always claim to know a lot about their playerbase. We’ll see how long it is before they notice newer players not even continuing to play gw2 because new obstructions.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
6-12 months? LMAO! Yeah game will still be here. What you see today isn’t new. It’s happened several times in the games past.
Still plenty of people liking the game. The naysayers will tell you no, but the financial report only shows a modest drop in revenue over a quarter when both Wildstar and ESO came out.
The November after launch was far worse on the forums than it is now, and that was almost two years ago.
Reddit will give you a better perspective on where people are at with the game.
Anet has made some decisions lately that are unpopular with certain groups. But every time they do that a different group profits.

It’s got roughly 1 years worth of novel content, and it looks like no plans to really expand.
I recommend buying just the game – don’t bother with anything in the gem store at all – if you like the look of this game.
The first play through is interesting enough that $60 (or whatever it is on sale) is worth it – you’ll get your 1 years worth of play.
Just don’t think of it as a long term MMO, because Anet has no interest in retaining long term players.
They’re all about grabbing the fast buck.
My best moments in Guild Wars 2 is still at and few months after launch… everything after that had nothing memorable at all.
It’s obvious the game is way past its’ heyday but it seems some people still hanging on that last string of rope, hoping Arenanet just takes a real good look at what they have done.
Figure they get their clean-up crew after us (those that know this game is going in a wrong direction) since it’s cheaper than actually fixing the problems…
This game had potential to grow into something even bigger but Arenanet just didn’t take the route after all these years….
I’m just glad I got to play the game when it was the best than what it is Today (and little over year ago)
Hmm, but I am wanting a longterm MMO..
I dont mind investing time and money in a game but when I am ’’there’’ so to say and I am at endgame, fully geared, I do want something to DO.. like leading a Guild for example or tackling dungeons on hard more like GW1.
Sounds like it’s turning into more of a casual MMO to do while the other games you like are having weekly maintenance.
Don’t waste your money. Playing WoW at this point is 10 times better.
The path of downfall? This is it. September 9th.
You say you want to DO but then don’t play the game but allow others to make up your mind. Not a lot of DO involved.

Yes casual friendly, selling to the masses, kind of game.
There is no strictly “hard mode” content at this time. Although, honestly, how hard will it be after you’ve run through it a hundred times and memorized how to get through it quickly and efficiently ie speed runs?
Hey guys,
I’m a returning player myself. I love the way the game looks and I love the gamestyle of it. They have done an outstanding job on the design.
Whenever I fully devote to a MMO I spend a lot of time and money on it.
This is what I intend to do with GW2.
However reading the recent forum topics and looking at the publisher’s recent decisions and changes to the game, I am finding myself facing a big question:
‘’Will this game change further into something ugly?’’
and
‘’Will this game still -be- there after 6-12 moths?’’ (thats how long I expect to take to be fully geared etc).Because I don’t want to make a mistake I made with another game, where I heavily invested time and money in it and just as I was hitting endgame, the game closed.
This patch is the “NGE” of GW2 (NGE being the “New Game Enhancements” update to Star Wars Galaxies that watered down the game and led to it falling into obscurity and eventually being shut down)
I think it’ll drive away more players than it attracts. The fact that Arenanet is basing this decision on what works in China was a bad one.
We’re not Chinese. We don’t like the same thing that Chinese players do. We have a different culture and history. You can’t use an umbrella solution and assume “all people are the same”. I’m not talking race so don’t accuse me of racism, I’m talking about the culture in which you were brought up in, they’re distinctly different.
To Chinese players, maybe they do feel that the game being like this gives them more of a sense of progression.
To me at least and it seems to a lot of other western players, we consider locking all these features away to be watering down/dumbing down the game and insulting to our intelligence. Especially when anet’s expressed rationale for the change was not bringing us into the same gameplay as China is going through but to “help new players understand the game”. It makes it feel like pic related.

the Chinese didn’t like it either and wanted to get the same version we had.

Really? That’s even funnier. But wait a second, if the Chinese didn’t like it, and we sure as hell hate it, who the kitten are all these players who Anet said were clamoring for this watered down kittenfest?

Clearly not the people on the forums because, you know…we’re only the minority. Must be all those players who never communicate with arenanet. Who else is left?
