The perfect game, no issues
GW2 was a great game 2 years ago.
compared to this… it was a great game after the last feature patch…seriosly.. i miss the “old” feature patch
I was here at release. It was fun, but objectively, GW1 was still better.
would be Guild Wars 1. Why is anybody still here? This team developed a better game YEARS ago… and it is still functioning.
I am generally discussing Guild wars 2, so yes, this is on topic.
I’m not sure if any of the GW1 people still work on it. On the forums I see Gaile Gray and Stephane Lo Presti, but neither of them actually make the game. I just don’t see how the same people could do this.
perfect world international ?_?
“Objectively”, what a joke.
I liked Guild Wars 1, played over 100 hours in it. It’s not “perfect”, everything has its issues. One of the main frustrating things is the death penalty, the way maps were designed, and how inconvenient quests can be. Some quests make you go a really long path to explore this area and do something. After that, the same NPC gives you a new quest to go to the same area again, but further past. Really? They could’ve given me the 2 quests at the same time. I sense an illusion given by nostalgia.
Compared to Guild Wars 2, where AI is more varied, swimming, jumping, and just things that’s a lot more flexible and more open to you. But I suppose that’s just A-Net trying to cater a game towards the time’s generation. Like every other game, it has its issues.
I’m not giving GW2 any A.I. awards any time soon… Swimming involves the dumb water combat which STILL feels like crap. What is “more flexible and more open to you”? Having access to trait points and skills early on? WHOOPS… forgot for a sec… Tons of skills and builds? WHOOPS… none of that… Lots of classes and combinations? WHOOPS… you get the point…
GW1 had its flaws but it is a solid game. Yes the quests were a bit annoying and the A.I.s that you used before they did Heroes was painful at times. The death penalties did not bother me so much. You died, there was a penalty that you either buffed off with items or worked off with kills.
GW2 has some positive aspects to it. There are things in the game that I wish they had pushed just a bit further. Water combat is a good example. I like water combat but it is not class friendly to all classes and aspects were not really thought out well.
Combining both games might have given you a close to perfect game, if that is the type of game you like.
OTR

GW2 is not a bad game. You are right, if they combined some aspects of both, that would be a good game. But I’d be worried which aspects they would choose, and why. And I bet most of it would be GW1, but updated graphics, maybe less instanced, and stuff like that. (Oh and a story with less Trahearne…)
