Q:
The policy on reporting griefers and AFKs?
A:
As far as the PvP-related mini-games, such as Keg Brawl, it is against the ToS as defined here:
Engaging in PvP match manipulation, disrupting a PvP match by not actively playing in good faith, or any other form of PvP griefing, exploitation, or abuse… will result in either a temporary account suspension or permanent account termination, depending upon the severity of the matter.

So, I would guess you could certainly report a person for engaging in such play as described above.
AFKing isn’t a valable reason to report and will only charge those supposed to put a sentence on that a bit more, ultimately punishing you at best I expect. You can’t really ban people because they went away, be it on purpose or not.
Botting is a reason to report, and I’m pretty sure it falls under a special category for it on the report window.
Basically playing against your team, I must say I’m not sure since I’ve never witnessed that. But then again I don’t think that’s reportable, just find another server.
As I previously pointed out on other threads, there are real people paid to do this, who probably gets thousands of reports per day. And when they ban someone, which I believe they primarly do based on chat logs then on a further investigation for special cases like botting, it means that person has invested hundreds or thousands of hours, XX(X)(X) dollars/euros/whatever in the game, and it’s basically all ruined. For all I know ANet doesn’t punish lightly, when the banhammer strikes it strikes hard, so let’s keep being reasonnable ; offensive language, botting and the like are a reason to report, some light things like AFKing where people would like you not to are not.

I was in the same game with Vael. The issue was not AFKing, but scoring for the opposing team – at least 4-5 matches in a row, so that was intentional. In Keg brawl you cannot attack your teammate, so if he/she scores for the opposing team, there is nothing you can do.
Well as I said, try and hop on another server, or wait if there isn’t any. Check up the rules if this is written somewhere as I didn’t necessarily felt willing to read through all the website to see if it is mentionned, but I don’t think it is. In worst case, try emailing ANet support with screens and everything. Not sure they handle those requests so ask if they can treat it or transmit it.

AFK is now illegal? Well, dang.
Does this mean I have to log out while making myself a snack, or when I answer the door or answer the phone?
As for “scoring for the other team”? I didn’t bring my team to this event and I got stuck with you, just like you got stuck with me. Any goal I score counts for my achieves. Don’t blame players for poor game design.

Afking isn’t punishable because no matter where you do it it is your right. Even in pavillion, in a minigame, wherever you want, you can go afk. It might be disrespectful or whatever, but it’s your right. You can also (F word) something up by not putting a skill when you needed to or something, that’s not bannable. Reasons are that it can be trolling but can also be an emergency, a bad player, or a myriad of other reasons.
However griefing, I’d act a bit more carefully if I were you. As poor as the level design is, we remember ANet basically saying “it’s obvious it shouldn’t be like that, so don’t abuse it” for karma sets isues, for exemple.
(oh and yeah you’re also actively playing against your team on purpose, which annoys them WAY more and is way more disrespectful than going afk or something. So yeah. Care.)

Who said I was abusing it? I wasn’t in that match, but I have “scored for the other side” more than few times just because I wanted to get that achieve done.
Go ahead, report me. I don’t mind.
I have seen much worse in WvW, and Anet does nothing.

Hmm, sounds like a clear exploit.
… well you just said it. Twice atleast. That was bright. I loved the “don’t blame me for exploiting a clear flaw that ought to be fixed since they probably just forgot to be more specific in their code” part, great sense of “blame them while I take as much as I can from it”.
As to wether they do something or not, you don’t know. Everyone says they do nothing, that is for every game. Literally. That happenned for everything. But truth is you don’t know. And yes, there is some “spying” and everything in WvW, well guess what, ANet isn’t going to come on teamspeak and check that, and they might be okay with it since it’s a war environnement.
Though they most likely will be way less okay with people being openly disrespectful in a fun environment. Go ahead, enjoy it. Screw other people so you can have, what, 20 more AP ? I normally wouldn’t care. But if they decide to act against the disrespectful kids in the game I’d slowly clap in your honor while trying to remember how much I’d hate you for destroying others pleasure for a virtual number.
Eh, well. People do grow up someday. Most of them atleast.

Sometimes a player does score for the wrong team by mistake. (I’ve done it a few times.) If they keep on doing it multiple times even after being told though, I agree it’s rather crass. There should be a Dishonorable tag for Activities as well.
Actually there was a Leeching report function in GW. That would be good here, now. However reporting for Griefing is open for too much abuse – admittedly the people that would abuse a ‘Griefing’ report function would also do the same for ‘Leeching’.

For the record – Just because the system currently doesn’t have a way of dealing with AFKers/Leechers – Does NOT mean “it is your right”. There are areas of the game where a player or players shouldn’t be there unless they’re actively contributing to the “cause”. PvP matches or PvE instances like Boss Blitz, for example. Even if its an emergency, yes. Can’t play? Get out of the match/instance. Doesn’t take long. It opens up a spot for someone that is willing and able to contribute.
Fact is that there are far more people leeching intentionally that are hiding behind the “life happens” excuse as their defense, or now saying it is their “right” to do so. Funny thing is that exploiters just as easily believe that using an exploit is their “right” because its there and they’re able to do it. Doesn’t fly very well.
>Eh, well. People do grow up someday. Most of them atleast.
In my experience, it’s less about growing up and more about coping with your own issues. Check out some articles on the psychology of game griefing: from sociopathism to depression, there’s usually an underlying cause for long-term griefing.
As for AFKing, this is not simply going AFK. This is leeching, idling, getting 10 points in a pvp match and sitting for 10 mins. As someone pointed out, there was a leeching option in GW1. I wonder why it was taken out. Unfortunately this topic has not been very useful in getting an answer, and I don’t think there currently is one.

Are you serious? Ok then. Everybody can play their own way right? Then I want have option not to play with leechers and afkers. Right now I am not able play my own way.
I beg to differ on the “It’s ok to AFK” arguement, try that in any other competetive arena such as league of legends for example and you’re likely to get your account suspended and maybe even banned, it goes double for greifing/assisting enemy team. Would be nice to see a stronger report system for these competetive games in Gw2, especially tPvP where i encounter one AFK guy every 4 games and costs me the game, why should he not be punished for queueing and leaving before it starts. If you know you don’t have the time then don’t do it.

You want this, and you’re playing an MMO? Try Skyrim. You would probably like it.

The same thing could be said of those feeling AFKing at any point in the game while there is no emergency is their right.
I don’t need an emergency to go AFK. A beer, a football game, or the pizza dude at the door are more than enough reason for me to go AFK.
Poor you.
