So after reading the forums I can conclude that people are not nearly as happy as they could be. There’s a lot of complaints about class balance, especially on the new Engineer changes, general unhappyness about charged loadstones drops being nerfed, etc.

So what I, and a lot of other people, want to know, ANet, is… Are you actually reading this? Do you care? Will you listen to our troubles and try to adjust the game to reach an overall higher satisfaction or will you just honk your horns and roll over us with a lot of weird changes that we never had the chance to have an opinion about before they hit the floor?

DO YOU CARE? DO YOU LISTEN? CAN WE TRUST YOU? We need to know. Sure, ppl spended on the game, but will they keep spending? I have done miniscule purchases from the store a few times and I can say right now that I refuse to spend a cent more until I feel that I can trust you guys. We are the customers, and we are all you have in terms of income. We should be treated the way we deserve.

ArenaNet cannot trust the complaints here. Most come from grinders and exploiters (your example about reduced drops of charged lodestones was actually an exploit being fixed). All MMO forums are filled with whining; some of it is valid, most of it is not.

I understand that.
But every complaint warrants a reason to look at the subject to see if it’s actually as it should be. You can’t just write of all of the complaints as “uninformed whining” because some of it is legit. And remember, the goal of every MMORPG is to appeal to as many as possible. If an issue keeps getting complained about then that’s a clue to that maybe things are a bit messed up after all.

I for one don’t feel like I am a part of the development and my questions goes unanswered… What I want is not for people to dissect the cycle of complain>issue>fix. I want ANet to answer.

Each complaint deserves to be looked at; but what could ArenaNet say when a complaint IS due to uninformed whining?

They have answered many complaints, even if people didn’t like the reply – see the Ascended gear thing, or almost any complaint in the dungeon forum.

Some complaints are simply not worth responding to. Considering how developers have to stop actually working to improve the game in order to post replies here, I would rather have the worst complaints left to rot (see the topic about the lodestone exploit being fixed) than waste valuable dev time with them.

If only that was the only issue…

Explain to me why we have no PTS server.
Explain to me why there’s no “Class update” sticky on the class boards.
Explain to me why they nerfed Engineer so much when it was always a class struggling to keep up with the rest.
Explain to me why Mike Obrien says that ANet does not make grindy games and we are all grinding Fotm for money anyways.
Explain to me why the PvE content that was said to be “Dynamic and innovative” is underpopulated in so many places?

The list goes on and on, all of this, serious issues that ANet have failed to fix.
That’s why I feel like they don’t listen.

And STOP! I don’t want you to make anymore responses, PLEASE. I don’t want this thread to be deleted under the claims of “Unconstructive”. I want official input on this.

In matters of gold farming: ANet is doing the right thing to shut down methods to earn gold by farming. The gap between casual gaming gold earning and farming is already way to big.
Class balance is playing with number, and unfotunately we do not have them. ANet will try their best, though nerfs will always cause nerdrage anyway.

What’s wrong with people making more money if they actually invest the time and patience into the boring repetetive work that it takes and save up? Isn’t that how the world works?

Also ANet needs player input before they launch class changes like I’ve said a million times now, that’s why they need a PTS server. If a class is yay or nay depends on it’s situational use in actual PvE and PvP content, not numbers done on a dummy.

This. Farmers are complaining that grind in this game is too unrewarding, but that’s exactly what “We don’t make grindy games” means. They should nerf farming and playing the TP more, not less.

No. This is a discussion forum, not ArenaNet’s e-mail service. Besides, isn’t it against the forum rules to demand official responses?

How can THAT be against the rules? Doesn’t every customer have a right to demand an answer when he feels poorly treated by a company?

Also a game must try to appeal to everybody. “We don’t make grindy games” means that grinding is not required at all. But if there are people out there who are willing to do something boring over and over to save up more money than the lazing players who just wants to explore new content then how is that wrong?

If the inflation keeps on going by this pace, the only way for new players and casuals to keep up is buying gems and change them to gold. While this might look like profit for ANet at first, it will cause people to stop playing the game because it will feel like pay2win.

This is not what ANet wants. They try to fix their broken economy and I hope they can succeed.

You can get gear through crafting and drops and karma you know. Like I said, grinding is not requires nor should it be. Tons of gold is not required to gear up either.
So with that said, new players can indeed keep up, assuming they are willing to put effort into it.
Isn’t farming for days effort as well?

Have you looked at the inflation on exotic precursors? Chances to get the one you want by just playing the game are what? So the only way to obtain them is to get ’em from the ah.
What is the inflation rate from after 2 weeks ingame till now? 1500% at least. In 3 monthes. While there will always be some variation, this is just bad, really really bad.

Time.

The game is 3 months old and has a ton of valid issues and a ton of invalid whining. They have to sort through all of them, try to recreate bugs people report, try to isolate glitches and sift through trillions of line of code to find that one small piece that causes the issue(s). On top of this you have bot control and things to keep the end game player active and interested.

This takes time, some things are easier to isolate and fix than others, some people meet their deadline for content releases and some don’t for whatever reason. Anet are only human, they have lives and families. Sometimes your child gets sick, sometimes you get sick and these delay productivity.

I think a lot of people forget these things and just want everything done right now, this second or the world is crumbling beneath them.

Be patient, you aren’t paying a monthly fee.

Time.

Long story short.
No, they don’t care.
Not a single Mod post about this issue is proof enough; and all the legit (no flaming) threads about the issue (people simply posting their previous and current experiences with loot and statistics to a degree) are simply sent to the “Trash Bin” as the message states its becoming a “conspiracy” thread roflmao ive about had enough..

Rustypipes,

Not only do they have to deal with the actual technical aspects of the game, but they have to do it under the most inane, and impatient verbal abuse. (well, textual abuse).

I understand posts which raise concerns or point out bugs. They’re necessary feedback. The vitriol in posts like OP is just beyond the pale though.

At least it reflects one thing: OP cares about this game enough to get MAD. That says something about the power of this title, and should be warming to the devs as they read such things.

That’s why I feel like they don’t listen.

1. Idk why we don’t have a pts server. I don’t really see why it’s needed.

2. I also don’t see why this is needed? We got patch notes, if you want to find out what changes, go read it there.

3. I must be blind or something. I’ve played my engineer for over 300hrs. I can’t tell it is anything wrong with it.
Maybe the -30% damage on grenades was a bit too much, but if it was, they’ll most likely buff them again in the future.

4. You don’t really have to grind fotm. If you also want to be “competitive” or something, not fall behind etc.. You just have to do it once every day for daily. That doesn’t take very long.
Besides, now you’ll get both the rings you want within max 20 daily fotm. Sooner if you’re lucky and get the ring you want.

5. How often do you run to lv 10-30 zones just to do some nice events? I know I prefer to farm high level events or to do other stuff.
But tbh, I don’t really understand the question. It doesn’t make much sense imo.

Keep in mind that ANet always is open for suggestions. Post a suggestion here and they will see it.

Why doesn’t anyone make a list of all the issues/complaints that they did fix.
Ascended rings for example.

It feels like people just whine and whine and whine.
I wish more people could be grateful.

The sad thing is the “nerf” to engineers was a massive buff.

If they switch kits with the might sigil they can stack it sky-high like D/D eles and get all the damage back and MORE.

I saw the patch notes to eng and said “my god that’s a huge buff”

I’m casual, i know for a fact my guild is dying off, and i’m tired of grinding everything and getting nothing while exploiters make a fortune, i’m tired of stupidly high trading post prices because everyone and their dogs are overpricing stuff…

If it continues i’ll just move on, its very little fun in game now, keep it up and the players will leave in droves…me included..

I paid for GW2 to have fun not slave away at a second job..

Trying to appeal to everyone is a recipe for disaster – the result is something “meh” to everyone and great to no one. ArenaNet should focus on the core audience of GW2 – the audience that agrees with “We don’t make grindy games”, not “We don’t make games that require grind”.

Besides, rewarding people for doing something boring over and over is very lazy design – that’s what developers use to hide their inability to make fun content. ArenaNet should reward people while they are having fun, not while they are boring themselves.

I agree with you.
But I’m still not 100% sure. I want to find out exactly how some sigils work with grenades and other kits.

For example if every grenade got a 60% chance on critical hit to apply bleed. Or if just one of them have the chance. I know it got a 2 second cooldown but that isn’t relevant.
If the case is this, a condi engineer would get a huge boost with grenade kit.
