So I just had my map chat over spammed by people that for the last 3 days have been taking the word “Quaggan” and putting it into movie titles in map chat. The really sad part is that with all the guesting going on in Jade Quarry, this has not only made events a lag ridden hell hole, but a very annoying one as well.

I really do not know where this massive number of trolls came from or why they landed on JQ, but am I the only one that this is bothering?

The lag is awful on my server, the guesting is out of control, and now our map chat is being spammed with so much non-sense that I just keep it off.

Any one else dealing with this on their server? The map spam or the guesting craziness?

In SWTOR people do it a TON in Dromund Kaas with the word ‘Jawa’

What’s your solution,Ban em all ? Report em for spamming? I’d say..Let people have some fun..I could think of way worse things the map chat could be spammed with.

I really didnt even ask what you think I was suggesting to do about it. I asked if they were doing it on other servers.

My guess would be yes, and you are one of them.

If they’re bothering you, report them.

But I don’t think they’re doing anything wrong, and it’s very very easy for you to turn off map chat if you don’t like reading it.

Of all the things spammed in chat, this is what bothers you? I just had to de-chat-ify myself because I didn’t care to hear the dimensions of ‘bits.’ Ya – Quaggan movie terms at least sounds friendly & doesn’t conjure up a revolting mental image.

Aaaaaaand quaggan movies have now reached the forums.

What areas specifically is it a problem? I’m JQ, and I’ve only heard it in Lions Arch and Queensdale. LA is always laggy, and Queensdale lags due to people guesting to reach Shadow Behemoth.

If its really annoying, you could always block the people who are spamming it.

I actually found it quite entertaining myself. Some of them were pretty funny.

But if you think chat is lagging you out or causing you pain and suffering, there is the option to turn it off. I mean it is “general chat” it is used for general talking. Heck, quaggans are even relevant to the game. Even quaggan porn is better then that awful discussion about the US national debt I had to sit through in LA as I tried to sell things.

Considering we all were waiting for nearly 30 minutes for the dragon to show up last night it’s only natural that boredom leads to silliness. Since I have no idea who started it or where they were, I simply assumed they were other players waiting for the dragon so I joined in. As for lag when the event started, guess what it happens when a ton of players firing off effects left and right in a very small area. It certainly wasn’t caused be a bit of map spam.

You know, it is very hard to co-ordinate a 5 temple run through Orr without map chat on. And yes, they were doing it in Orr today too. I banged out a bunch of spam reports, so maybe Anet will at least warn them.

I was making Quaggan movie jokes 5 days ago in LA overflow chat. Didn’t know it was such a hit.

It was fine for a bit, but now it’s a stale, obnoxious spamfest for kittenty ADD-addled hipster-trolls to get in on while they throw junk in the mystic toilet. And like was said, it going on during a 5-temple run is most unpleasant. It’s bad enough we have to deal with guests showing up specifically to troll everyone.

Why do you think it is guests on server doing this? Your native pop would never do it I guess. And since guests are the majority on high pop servers it could be annoying /sarcasm.

Yesterday, a troll started a discussion about religion and abortion in the Kessex Hills chat on my server. I would trade that for Quaggan spam anytime.

Want to communicate? Turn on map chat. See someone you don’t want to see on the chat? Right click there name and press ignore. No need to put up a thread for it.

Sounds pretty harmless compared to much of what I read in map chat. I’ve put a number of names on ignore already. I wouldn’t even bother for this bit of silliness. And that’s all it is — a bit of silliness.

Just wait until people run out of movies. Problem solved.

You should have seen the LA chat on far shiverpeaks a couple of days ago. Someone said “finally” and linked a legendary. Then people started saying finally and linked this and that. Though me saying “Finally, [Your sister]” put an end to it.
