The refugees are going to SC
Well, the zone was a pretty big boondoggle to begin with, so maybe the point is to breathe new life (and hopefully content) into an over-difficult, under-populated zone.

I understand why the story is going this way, but I’m also fairly certain hilarity will ensue.
Try talking to the Consortium refugee coordinator in LA.
“Why are they going to Southsun Cove?” (player)
“Because… paradise!”
The system unfortunately cuts off the tail end of this conversation:
“Yeah, did you tell them about the giant killer crab monsters tha-”
“PARADISE! OAK PANELED!”
Should be a fun time in southsun for we adventurers.

To be honest, i dont want all these refugee’s in my town.. We already have enough culling.
I dont want them on SC thats my island……Its bad enough I tell other players to get off.
The refugees aren’t so much deciding that Southsun Cove is the destination as a lifetime – it’s more like they turn up in Lion’s Arch with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and representatives of the Consortium jump in to say “lost your home? No one will take you in? We’re got a beautiful tropical island paradise just waiting for settlers, and we’ll let you move there now for free!”
I’m sure, of course, that they make that offer out of the goodness of their hearts, and not at all because their venture has been a colossal failure and no one wants to go to Southsun Cove for tourism as it is right now.
actually no the refugees in LA are stating they are headed to the SC
Southsun Cove is getting a huge makeover and will become an amazing paradise for the refugees and players. This will make the area more likable and much more will be added to make explorers want to come here more often. It will look more like a land of travelers and less like a land of monster infested black hole of death. There will be more quests, events, and npc’s which will fill the area and make it more interesting overall.

My money’s on a gradual transformation as the settlements get a bit more lived-in and developed over the course of the next few months’ events. The Consortium will still have troubles, though (they have a habit of not thinking their plans all the way through) – and outside the bounds of settlements will still be full of killer monsters.
So basically, potentially terrible place to be an NPC, but a great place for adventurers!

you have no proof of this
The refugees should be forced to go through the opening event just like we did. After hours of karka killing just to be disconnected before getting the chest, they’ll be hobbling back home in no time.

CITIZENS! CO-
CITIZENS!
On topic, I’m hoping that this revitalizes Southsun Cove with drastically more dynamic events.
Having it go from a deserted island to an inhabited one.
Norn and Charr, honestly, seem like the best possible group to go to a place with hostile creatures. (Norn are always up for a new challenge to show off their might.)
Noooooooo! Those karka shells and vials of potent/powerful blood are mine! MINE!
GET OFF MY ISLAND!
On a sympathetic note, are those refugees insane? What could be so kitten that could drive them to take refuge on an island full of angry crustaceans that routinely wipe entire Lionguard parties?

It is highly likely though.

The idea is if he say it enofe ppl will ask for him to tell them all of what he trying to say in effect he is tricking them into letting his “foot in the door.”
