The relieve feeling that you get when...
you finally learn to give up doing your dailies. I’ve been doing my dailies everyday without missing even a single one since the early start weekend. The first step is the hardest but man, once you’ve missed one, you don’t really care about it anymore. I urge anyone else who feels like it’s a chore to just leave it. Your time is worth more.
If it feels like a chore and you finally stop it, the next stop won’t be far. Soon you will stop playing at all.
Which you totally should, if it does indeed feel like a chore.
I love doing the daily achi
I take note of what my daily options are, but for months now I’ve not bothered going out of my way just to do them. If they line up with what I feel like playing, cool, I get them done. If they don’t, I just shrug it off. To me, the game is here for me to enjoy, to play how I feel like playing. I don’t let an arbitrary task dictate my play.

That’s a problem though if what gw2 has come down to is having fun doing dailies lol
Never really bothered with dailies. If I wanted dailies I’d have played WoW.
I had more fun doing dailies nowadays.

Thats my dailies nowadays

Alright maybe I should rephrase. I don’t really “do dailies” as much as I just play the game and before logging off check what I’m still missing, if anything. Most of the days, I’ll have 5/5 or more before I even look what’s on the list today.
But that’s probably because I play most parts of the game and swap between them all the time. In essence, I play whatever I feel like playing on a given login.
I also don’t stress over the dailies either. If I don’t feel like playing on a particular day, I don’t play and that’s it.
I never try for a daily unless I just happened to get to 4/5 by normally playing lol.
They are easy xp for leveling chars though :/

Yeah, I figured this out waaaaaay back when and it really made the game alot more fun to play. When I was obsessing on dailies it started feeling like a chore, but when I just stopped looking, stopped picking what I was gonna do that day and just played the game, all the fun came back.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

And the joke on it all is that you still end up doing your dailies most nights, right?
1.Start the game
2.Play for a while
3.Check daily achievements 4/5
4.Focus on doing the last one

I absolutely loath dailies in any game.
They really need to let you stack up to 7/7 dailies so you can skip some then knock them all out at once, Rift does that with most dailies and it’s fantastic, no pressure of “I NEED TO LOG IN BEFORE 5 PM kitten IT”.
I never got into the habit of doing them every single day to begin with.
It might help that I couldn’t even if I wanted to because there’s often days when I can’t even get online (yesterday and next Friday, Saturday and probably Sunday for example) but I think it also helps that I’m happy just playing this game instead of racing to the ‘end’.
It makes dailies, and things like dungeon armor, ascended gear etc. much more fun.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
yes, yeeees let the chore flow through you. I stopped doing them like 4 months ago and no way in hell im going back to this chore train

GW1 did that up to 3 days. Obviously since GW1 was an epic fail (that’s what I get from some posters around), they couldn’t copy anything from that or it would taint GW2 :o

The GW1 “dailies” were specific tasks like “Do mission x” or “kill mob x”. You can’t compare those 2 systems.

Can totally relate OP, haven’t stopped doing dailies since I ding’d 80, after the recent Karma nerf and getting my Gift of Mastery and Gift of Fortune, I had no more motivation to do them anymore. Ascended trinkets are just not enough to get me to go out and do them

And the GW2 dailies aren’t specific tasks? “Gather 20 times” “Kill 50 mobs” “Complete ‘x’ events in ‘x’ area” These things aren’t specific tasks?
The main difference I see between them is time involved. You can complete all 5 daily ‘tasks’ in GW2 in about the same time it would take you to complete some of the individual GW1 daily ‘tasks.’ We still had 3-4 tasks a day though….

I can kill those 50 mobs wherever I want, I don’t need to enter a specific map and go to a specific point to kill a specific mob. That’s the difference.

Unless it specifies….ie Ascalonian killer…Shiverpeaks killer…
Again, same thing. They are all tasks, nothing more.
Well I’d rather have a task saying “go kill Wubwub the Mighty” than “kill 50 nondescript critters in the jungle”
Are you crafting your time-gated materials every day now?
Or mining your daily quartz?
Not that those are similar to dailies or anything like that…

I agree on the relief aspect of giving up on the dailies. But, I also realize that laurels, what the dailies/monthlies gate, is the path of the power curve for a lot of pieces of gear. I have all the professions at 80 and only one character that is moderately attired in Ascended trinkets currently. So, I realize that getting relief here is tantamount to giving up on the game.
Actually, at this point dailies is about all I do, as I can’t stand the grind of GW2. I’m playing other games and hoping to see GW2 return to the GW DNA. It could happen.

I don’t really see it as giving up on the game. I do the dailies most days, but there are just days where I just don’t do them (out of town, working late, spending time with the wife, etc) and honestly don’t find any pressure because of it. It’ll might take two or three months instead of one to equip my chars with ascended trinkets…. so what?.
That I think was the point of the op, the game is supposed to be about fun, as is any game out there, something we only do for entertainment… and if something feels like a chore or a job, and not as something we do for fun (and of course we’re not obligated or paid to do it)… why do it in the first place?.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Before the AP chests came along and I was getting world explore for my Alts I would just “happen” to complete the daily as I was going about my business.
However now they have changed some of the objectives to encourage us to play in different maps to get the daily done. Doing this has hindered my way of getting as I go along but it does not make the process any less fun or a HUGE hassle to do. I simply just log in, go to the daily section and add to “watch” all the ones I simply want to do. Then I go out and am usually done within an hour perhaps even less. Then I go about my business of really having fun. :P
I know you could say that has little to do with this thread but still. My point is if you want/need those AP’s you can do it without too much hassle. But I will stand by the OP and say if it’s not that important for you then buy all means just ignore them!
I only do the dailies if I really want to play and have nothing else to do.
I just log in, play some wubwub and salvage everything so I might get materials to craft exotics. But no pressure.
