Low success event + no loot from mobs = Time/Gold sink ?

Having events that basically require the same people turning up to all servers & running them is in no way any form of “balance”. This game is further & further from the grasp of the common player. The toil of making ascendeds is bad enough, then we find out that there will be stat changes which will potentially make a particular set unviable for the toon you busted your butt to create.

Now we have an event with a high failure rate where there is a multitude of mobs but no loot. Since when did obtaining loot for efforts become a no no?

Farming mobs instead of trying to do an event is one thing, getting no loot from an event that is expected to fail is totally unfair.

Its a game , its meant to be fun, This is more like work than fun.

Are people still failing on the events? Borlis Pass has been getting at least one chain of the marionette and one Wurm head consistently each time today, and I thought we were the worst PvE server…

Sure, let’s result to ad hominem attacks. Quite frankly, people on the forum will complain about everything. Queen’s Gauntlet came out, how many people were whining that it was too effective for farming, that people who didn’t want to do it were getting left behind? This event comes out, and it’s light on loot, and we have someone complaining that they’re still getting left behind?

Geez, how is A.Net supposed to win.

Do people not know how the key fragments work?

If you finish a key and use it in scarlet’s lair, it gives you rare crafting materials, and guaranteed rare items.

YOU CAN DO THIS AS MANY TIMES AS YOU HAVE THE KEYS FOR IT.

I’ve made around 12 gold off doing the event occasionally.

Hold on a second. What do you mean no loot. I’m getting loot for that event, even when it fails.

Perhaps it’s not “obvious” loot, but those code keys I keep picking up from mobs do translate in a reward. Furthermore, the final chest, even when you fail, does give you some reward…particularly if you get most of the chains down.

However, if you go get 50 power cores and get into scarlet’s lair, you can use the keys formed from the code fragments to open chests….the reward is simply something you have to take an few extra steps to get.

I ended up yesterday with 13 rares I wouldn’t have had, and a bunch of greens and blues as well.

The reward is there…just not everyone has played all the content to release it.

So failure means work to you? Maybe your boss should fire you.

Edit: Ascended was good. Those 5% stat increase is nothing, player skill is more important. Ascended is there for those who want the best of the best and a money sink, even if it isn’t such a big difference. Skill matters.

Mostly this. Every event that the champ farming reward is greater than the final reward has resulted in people not wanting it to succeed. This way the most reward comes from finishing each leg of the event. This was actually asked for in these self same forums.

So yeah. ask yourself:
- is the event fun?
- Do you have fun doing it?
- did you have a great time?
- do you have no regret having participated there?

if you answer Yes to it, then i ask you: “What is your loss?”

Is it really the “money” you did not get. Are disatisfied that you got no heap of gold, some expensive or special items or anything just for you being there. Heck even by completing it?

Is the experience you got so much less worth, then some virtual money in your virtual bank account, which allows you to get some virtual shinies faster, which in the long run do not changes the way you enjoy the game?

It does not matter what armor or weapon you wield as long as you have fun doing so.

if you have a particular design or goal in mind. Then it just takes a bit more time.
Why is it so hard to kick back and enjoy what you were given?

Just running after the money wont get you any enjoyment in the long run, because after a while you can buy all of your desires, leaving you unsatisfied with the rest.
Every player who has a ton of gold right now and no real “goal” anymore. What do they do ingame?

And since when is the event expected to fail? Once players realise they are not going for free loot but they have to -gasp- actually play the game, they will succeed in that event as well. Skill1 spammers shouldn’t get loot.

And besides the mobs in the Marionette event do drop loot that you can combine to create keys for Scarlet’s Lair and get rare materials and items. Just because you don’t get loot directly doesn’t mean you don’t get anything.

Funny enough it has had the opposite effect in the Wurm fights I’ve joined. Since nothing drops loot, people want to just ignore every add and finish the event as quick as possible which… doesn’t really work.

You get loot, you just don’t get the loot as drops. You get much MORE loot beating the event, but that doesn’t mean you don’t get loot for doing the event.

And you know, if you don’t like that specific event, for whatever reason, there are still 1500 other events, all but one of which provide loot.

If you needed to get 300 scraps of silk per day to make damask you may understand a little better. There is little loot to salvage for mats apart from the half dozen in the end chests which take how many mobs to kill per key 250-300?
Its right at a time where a good portion of the community are crafting their ascended items & alas we get an event that doesn’t really contribute.
I don’t even care about the champ loot its the trash loot that is sadly lacking.

I needed to quote myself, since the OP completely missed my post.

Basically, you have an end goal, which is to beat the boss. You have wave after wave of mobs. Even multiple Champ spawns. If the mobs all dropped loot, guess where all the Champ trains will move to? There would be no reason to beat the event, since the rewards for farming would exceed the end reward.

There will never be content like this were you get both mob loot, and end event loot. That would break the economy, and Anet knows this.

Do the events, play the game for the content and community. Trust me after around 50 Tequatl kills and no ascended taco box this is the mentality you should have (plenty of more players out there w/far more kills and no taco weapon), the game is so much better.

Now the gold issue, for me I drop 10-20$/month treating this game as a sub by supporting Anet. Don’t play the gemstore RNG unless you expect nothing, buy if you like, and not because it saves you gold (ex. gathering tools, salvage-o-matic).

Nothing in the store you like, swap it in for currency, this is the option for players w/less available ingame time.

Point in fact, giving access only to those who can pay for a centralized “ship” of tools that was Lion’s Arch where all players, rich and poor, spent the off time together is proof this game will become a ghost town if they don’t stop the literal class distinctions.

I wasn’t always, but once you become chronically ill one does become poor ; Lupus and Sarcoidosis keep me from working in my profession a network geek so I have turned to gaming to keep my mind as sharp as possible – making it harder for me to figure out where things are wasn’t exactly my favorite event of the game. Have as many concussions as I have had, you would be very frustrated by the discontinuity of the areas.

Loot has dropped since the beginning of the game – I haven’t found a single exotic since the MF reset – but I found many before the reset and am up to 112% base and use boosters quite a lot.

Being “outside” orange lines and not getting “10%” of kills (according to so many I can’t count – ergo they are guardians and warriors…) leaves one with silver or bronze. In this new event I have healed, rezzed, and rescued while others are killing and I kill to get to those who are down – and the loot from even one kill, even a veteran or higher can have NO loot still… makes no sense, does it? So many kills have no loot at all, none, but no explanation either.

What all this tells me in essence is that we are being put into little boxes; boxes where some can pay and those who won’t or can’t pay to get premium features and just a universal place to talk and compare notes – Lion’s Arch made the rest of the complaints a bit easier to swallow.

man, GW2 is extremely casual-friendly, is by far the easiest to catch up when you have to take a leave, I now have like 2 or 3 hrs at most daily to play and i don’t feel left behind at all, also the only ascended gear i have is the one i get from fractals/laurels/guild missions and I can proudly say that have better performance than most players on PvE
