Completed every achievement?

Have every weapon and armor skin?

Done every JP, timed. Beaten your best times? Beaten your guildies’ best times?

RPed an extensive and deep character story? Done the same for friends?

I am not trying to say that you havent done everything there is to do in the game, but many people making the claim seem to have not.

Not everyone is musically gifted, I don’t care how much they practice (myself included) and bringing that understanding into game is even more bothersome.

Achievements and collecting skins, that’s time and money to be invested. Assuming the OP works 8+ hours a day, has a family, it’s easier said than done compared to someone who doesn’t work as long or is single/still schooling.
Then of course there’s an aspect of the game I and other’s detest, pvp. Someone could try and attempt to convince me to play pvp more, but for most it won’t happen. The toxicity either ruins or has ruined the experience for it. So for me, those achievements won’t be done anytime soon.

As for the JPs, I myself have done all the core JPs (not including the new ones). But with the time I have now with my current job compared to my last few, I really don’t bother with the new ones. Learning takes time and repetitions (see the line above).

And I don’t RP much. Nor does it really interest me.

Overall, the OP may also be annoyed by the time zones.
Right now (time of this post: 2:23am EST), most people east coast NA will be catching z’s or getting ready for work. So that’s just another thing to keep in mind about in-game populations.

TLDR, it’s daunting to think of attempting it all and definitely easier said than done.

(add on) All the above is simply stating why I prefer to take my time towards any of my current progress. Not to be used as excuses why there’s nothing to do.

Yes I’m a vet, yes I’m salty. Problem?

I don’t think that fits the DNA of the game. It’s always been a combat-oriented game, even the story instances all require combat (with maybe one exception).

You could try to go from L2 (after tutorial) to L80 strictly as a pacifist. That means no killing and no partying up with someone else killing on your behalf. Crafting is an option, but some who do this consider it “cheating”. They favor map completion, including doing hearts (many of which have non-combat options).

The mini games from the 4 winds festival, the races, the pirate version of king of the hill, JPs ofc, diving, barrel toss, crab grab, all are pretty much directly or indirectly tie in with achievements.

Anything non-combat related will likely be included with the plethora of existing achievements. Such as catching the most or biggest fish, if fishing were to be added.

So it might just be the OP isn’t looking around hard enough.

Aside from things others said, talking with guild members and socializing is a “non-combat” activity.
Joining a guild that does guild events is another way to do non-combat activities. Hide and seek, trivia, tonic races, costume brawling and other such activities are fun with friends and do not involve fighting.
To me it looks like the OP wants something specific and disguised his post in exaggeration. Instead of “there is nothing non-combat to do” you should’ve asked what you really wanted, like add fishing or add housing or whatever you might be after.

kitten , fishing would be amazing. By far the most enjoyable non-combat activity in WoW, and I would love to see it added in GW2. Including fishing schools:

  • Generally speaking you need to press interact when the bobber bobs to catch the fish. Depending on difficulty of the fish, timing matters.
  • Schools of fish exist, can be targeted for fishing by right-clicking when close enough, will guarantee that catches are of that type only. ~3 fish catchable from a single school until it disappears.
  • Scrappers can use their function gyro to fish a school from extended range.
  • Loads of fishing poles available, including Tenebrous / Shimmering ones and hey, new avenue for gem store fluff!
  • Also sold in the gem store: lazy chairs your character will automatically sit in while fishing instead of standing. A basic one can be obtained from a lengthy collection, advanced ones are from sPvP, WvW, Raids (looks only ofc), and from the gem store.
  • Legendary Fishing Pole comes with a bird balancing on the pole, diving in to catch and deliver the fish on successful catch.
The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Regarding fishing:

Some Chefs out there may have noticed that there is not a single recipe with fish in it. Nor do fish in the rivers, lakes, and oceans of Tyria drop fish meat. This was all done intentionally.
We aren’t going to have fishing on release and we may not even have it any time soon (initial expansions/Live updates), but there is a place for it when the time comes.

Been playing almost every day since beta ….. I still have not run out of things to do ….. Not sure how some can run out of things to do on a game that adds new things every so often. Like this Tuesday adding another chapter to the Living Story ….. and then an expansion after that ….. nope still not understanding how anyone can run out of things to do in this game.

I believe the correct statement to make here is that “there is nothing I WANT to do” and currently I’m in the same boat. That being said, I still log in every day. The trick is going through the available activities and then finding one that actually interests you. If you can’t find one, then just don’t log in.

Can we have something to do other than just combat?

Unfortunately, MMOs seem to all have the base method of gaining XP as killing things. It is something that I have always lamented. Back when I played Tabletop Roleplaying games, almost all of my Game Masters were very creative and “kill things” was never THE answer to the problem. In fact I had one GM that took away XP if you used that as your expedient solution.

But these are games that have to make $ and also appeal to the most people. Developing non-combat means of progressing through the game would be risky so I understand why MMO developers don’t do it. I’m just pleased when there are a few non-combat options in them. And GW2 does have non-combat things to do as others have pointed out. I’m currently finishing up Chuka and Champawat, and while there is a lot of combat, there are also a lot of other interesting things in this journey that I appreciate.

I think it would help if there were more Festivals.

Did I even remotely say all I do is combat? All I said was I have not run out of things to do —- things is a plural word meaning multiple —- so on that note I do lots of things other than combat and have been doing multiple things since beta.
The only breaks I have taken are when I did not have a connection, the longest was when I took 6 weeks to voyage over to the UK and wonder around there for 4 weeks and then voyage back. I also just finished a 6 week trip cross country and back in the US in the RV that I live in full time, sometimes the connection wasn’t there. This is a game and while I may play it almost every day it does not and will not take over my life and I will still do things outside the game. Partly because I don’t want to burn out on it, I like to play it too much, lol.

Nothing to do? Have you considered actually participating in the combat? That’s basically what the game is about after all.

Apart from the combat (which is the core of this and many other games) there are the HoT adventures, the activities or jumping puzzles as non-combat activities.

If you want other things you probably need to play another game.

I like the non combat things as well. There are plenty if you just look for them.

Adventures in HoT
Building Legendary Weapons
Finishing Wardrobe Collections
Activities – Sanctum Sprint
JP’s
And tons of achievements that require no combat.

Don’t get me wrong I like the whole thing. Combat and no combat. But I still have many achievements that require no combat so you really just have to look for them.
