They wont play anymore.
42 now
time to find something else to play.
What are you farming for? For gold? For the prospects of having tons of loot in your bank?
The endgame gear is already ridiculously easy to get. What in the world do you need all that money for?
Game bugs making my life as a collectoholic rather difficult.
Even if they “fix” the Dungeon rewards, the farming is still kittened. “Play like you want…unless we don’t want you to play that way.”
I’m suffering this constantly every 15-20min I’m in a zone, and actually the instances DR too, is just the most annoying 2 systems I’ve ever seen in my life, maybe I wanna farm to get a legendary weapon, but I can’t play the way I want it, that’s the whole point this guy wants to say, and I do too.
While I understand you guys are frustrated because you cannot play the game ‘your way’ …Anet really is just trying to get you to play more aspects of the game. Instead of trying to be the first on your server with a legendary just do things that you enjoy in the game
Do a dungeon
Do some heart quests
Do some tpvp
Do some spvp
Do some WvWvW
eventually through just ‘playing’ the game you will reach your end goals of getting your legendary, or amassing so much gold your are Scrooge Mcduck. they built this game for you to have fun. I think they are just trying to nudge people to go out and actually have fun in the game.
Now if your idea of fun IS to go out and farm mods until you are that first person with a legendary etc, then I am very sorry, and it currently does not seem possible for you to have fun with the bot code in place.
Happy friday,
Madame Moorshade Teknomancer.
Thanks for the info.
I do think it’s stupid to punish players for actually playing. To me unless players are doing something exploitive, then why care? Fix content that’s broken, fix design that’s broken, and let players play.
Not sure where the punishment is. Most people work on the basis of the reward principle. If you are not being rewarded, stop that behavior. Unless, of course, you are a masochist.

Why do you care what he want’s it for? Why can’t he play the way he wants? Making a silly list of things for him to do is not a solution. People should be able to play how they want.
We are all being punished by this stupid DR and Dungeon system because of botters and exploiters. The result is people are playing less, less likely to spend money in the gem store, and less likely to recommend the game to other people.
Was funny to see people like you defending SWTOR right to the bitter end.

Do a dungeon – Bugged DRs no thanks
Do some heart quests – 100% Explorer already, no hearts in Orr zones
Do some tpvp – Not interested
Do some spvp – Not interested
Do some WvWvW – 18 hour session for 75badges, thank you DRs, never again.
Fun and enjoyment are subjective, being told what “I” should be doing for fun,….. isnt fun. My DDE, My money, for as long as I am not exploiting or breaking the game, I am NOT going to be told how to play.
He can’t play the way he wants because that’s NOT the game. The game is GW2, not I deserve to have ANet as my personal video game studio.
with the sheer number of botters i’m running into in every zone at all levels i welcome the anti farming code.
this isnt like other mmorpg’s where these thieves had to have credit card information. they could just take some cash to a local store, buy another key and make endless bot accounts without ever having to enter valid cc information or even valid contact information
i’m assuming you aren’t all young kids or new to the genre. have you ever tried any OTHER f2p mmorpg? the botting is rampant and has completely destroyed any attempt at an economy in those games – even EQ1 and EQ2
the fact that peole want 100+ gold for some exotics tells you there is already starting to be far too much gold in the economy due to the rampant botting and not just some clever individuals.

Sorry you feel like I personally defended SWTOR or that you know what kind of person that I am.
If my post offended you, quite sorry as it was not meant to. I just wanted to shed some light on the reasons WHY the the DR might of been put in in the first place. I.E forcing players to find new avenues of what a dev would consider ’ fun’ in a video game. No where in my post was I defending Anet for doing it. heck, I dislike the bot code just as much as the person next to me.
And as for me asking WHY someone would need to farm the money or items. I asked because I currently don’t feel the need to farm…so…hearing from someone who does would help me to understand his situation.
Please don’t mistake someones curiosity and willingness to help or discuss a situation as then defending something you are against.
Thanks =)

He can’t play the way he wants because that’s NOT the game. The game is GW2, not I deserve to have ANet as my personal video game studio.
He is being punished by unnecessary arbitrary systems.
He is not asking for a personal game studio. He wants to play the game in its current form minus the ridiculousness of the DR system.
A system that is supposed to punish bots but instead punishes everyone else instead.
We are all being punished by this stupid DR and Dungeon system because of botters and exploiters.
I don’t feel punished at all. But then I don’t grind the same thing over and over. Too much to see and do.

Most people get around it by simply switching to a different zone. Forstgorge or perhaps even WvWvW to farm.
Shrug.
I have a hard time sympathizing with people that play a game solely to overcompensate for some other shortcoming in their life instead of, ya know, fun.
Bai!

So you are playing the game the way you want to play it. Thats the point!!!!
A system that is supposed to punish bots but instead punishes everyone else instead.
But it doesn’t punish everyone. It only punishes you and other people who grind the same content over and over. That’s ANet’s choice. I support it. You can always go back to a more grindy game if you like.
Well I play a lot, haven’t found much need for money. Like GW1, you don’t really need it for anything.
I’m not a farmer though, I just play normally, and I get hit by “diminishing returns” really quick. I’m Lv 80 and only ever had two rares (no exotics). Mostly I get gray junk.
Magic boost doesn’t help at all.
But currently my armor is green. I don’t feel a need for better armor. I did buy exotic weapons though including Urchin’s needles (underwater speargun). I bought some expensive sigils and runes. But I did this recently, I’ve done explorable dungeons in blue and green armor and weapons and it went just fine.
I waypoint directly where I need to go because my loading screens take 2 minutes each I repair my armor a lot, I give my materials to friends instead of selling them (I don’t craft), I give my cooking ingredients to my boyfriend, gave him one gold because he didn’t have enough to buy grandmaster manual…
And all this with money I made just playing normally. I don’t farm. I haven’t even finished my personal story yet so I’m focusing on that. I also don’t buy gems to trade into gold because I’m dirt poor.
Oh speaking of gems, I traded a good amount of gold into gems to buy some silly stuff in the gem store.
And yet I still have so much gold to spare.
So I don’t understand… why do we need so much money? I’m happy seeing almost 2 gold in the account bank. It’s there if I need it. Why would I need 500 gold? Just to look at it and laugh maniacally? :P
I’m really curious why we have all this outrage.

i never played other mmo and i hate farming in every mmo games. and i quitted WoW at 10 level. i like gw2 pretty much. please don’t make gw2 like other mmo especially WoW. stop that!!
DR / anti-farm codes are hopefully placeholders and they will make a better system soon.

I don’t grind, its not how I play.
I am defending the OPs desire to play the game the way he wants.
This thread is negative and will be closed soon. We are only allowed to post attaboys to anet in here. Stick to telling them how good they are doing please.

No he is VOLUNTARILY playing a video game. If he chose not to play, he would not experience this ‘punishment’. That’s like saying Breaking Bad punished me because I did not enjoy Season 3. His argument makes NO sense and is just kittening because a few things aren’t to his liking. I get that the current tuning of the DR makes players upset, but to call it punishment is wrong.

Is this really the best argument you have? Semantics have no place in logical debate. Close your eyes, compose a real argument why to keep the DR system the way it is, and come back when you have something of value to say beside “if you don’t like it, don’t play it”.
IMO, punishing (read: negatively affecting) players by imposing the DR system was the worst idea to combat the botting issue.
“We just don’t want players to grind in GW2” – C. Johanson
“The most important thing in any game should be the player” – R. Soesbee
Just ignore the above fanboys. I am now playing barely 20 minutes/day, just logging in to collect gold from the TP and then reinvest.
Achieved pretty much everything, all dungeons, full exotic, all skins I wanted, 100% map… there is simply no content to keep players playing for too long.
Just pointing out that it doesn’t matter if you quit or not once you’ve purchased the game.
No subs, remember?
Come back again, or don’t. Up to you, really.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
ya we should play the way we want to play.
this is why Anet should allow bots.
o and why won’t anet make mobs drops 100g each because i want to play the way i want.
why can’t i get all the best gears at character creation? I want to play the way i want to play.
I swear… this play the way you want is getting stupid. What’s next? complain you can’t one shot people at lvl 1 because you want to play the way you want to play?
the fact that peole want 100+ gold for some exotics tells you there is already starting to be far too much gold in the economy due to the rampant botting and not just some clever individuals.
No,it tells me that those people are wasting too much time and money (traveling costs) thanks to the diminishing returns of farming, which in return increases the price of their products as well.
Oh,and since not everyone is willing to cope with this stupid mechanic, people are quitting. And since people are quitting, less people are buying gems, something that can be seen through the increase of the gem price from 25-30 to 35-45.
You think that people quit the game because they encounter a bug every now and then? Think again, because a bug is the least concern of everyone, the majority knows that these will get fixed sooner or later.
Sorry, but when the developers focus on a system like this instead of implementing crucial features like being able to join SPvP with a group, then the customers have every right to complain.
Unless arenanet can prove us that the bots were cutting their earnings by at least 20-25%,then they are inexcusable. Losing 25% of a huge playerbase is much better than losing 10% of a mediocre playerbase and unless they start picking up the important tasks and show that dedication to everyone, then the playerbase will shrink more and more.
Seriously, these diminishing returns is something that competes with Blizzard’s greed. It’s something someone would expect from Activision. And seriously, being compared to Activision is bad and arenanet should wake up.

Lol’d.
The point they make is good tho, the current DR code affects players to a large extent.
People farm because once you got everything you want there is nothing to do in PvE, as challenging content is still missing.
Here’s something of value: Prove that changing the DR will sell more games. There is no debate here. You either enjoy the game and keep playing, or you don’t. If you don’t stop playing, nothing will change. ANet needs a healthy player-base to keep peddling gems and expansions. If you log in, you are a potential revenue stream. If you don’t, you’re not. It’s as simple as that.
Until you can prove that the number of players dissatisfied with the DR significantly impacts ANet’s bottom line, you have NO argument. The best we can do is play or leave. ANet can not guarantee an amazing experience for everyone. The last thing we need is a game design dictated by 10 year olds in a forum.
Until you can prove that the number of players dissatisfied with the DR significantly impacts ANet’s bottom line, you have NO argument.
The amount of threads of people disatisfied with the DR system and the supportive replies are enough a proof.
If you want to diminish the value of those replies, then that doesn’t mean that it’s less of a proof. It only means that you are in denial and refuse to accept an opinion that is against the game, even though it might be good willed.

A forum community is not representative of the game’s community as a whole. Therefore, the whining threads are proof of nothing other than a select few’s insistence on complaining rampantly.

There are a lot of baffling design decisions in GW2. I think they took too much advise from yes men.
Game is like plain vanilla yogurt, not bad but dull and not something you can enjoy for all that long.
The amount of threads of people disatisfied with the DR system and the supportive replies are enough a proof.

The forum community is a sample of the overall community, within an error margin, but not much away from the real deal.
Saying that whoever doesn’t post on the forums is happy is equally biased and foolish.
Having one QQ thread per day means nothing. When your forums are flooded with those, then you do have some problems going on.
Stop being blind if you don’t mind. It’s easy to try to prove something wrong by devaluing it. Why don’t you try counter-arguing those “whiners” instead? Some of them have some solid arguments. Can you negate them without saying that “their opinion doesn’t matter”?
I’ve yet to see my droprate really messed up. I use to play a ton, now still a lot for the average person at 3 hrs+ a day.
To see the problem they must have been seriously doing nothing but GW2 with their lives? Which is kind of… strange.

Challenging what is felt to be a bad design is now complaining rampantly?
Obviously we are both just two sides of the same coin.

Wrong again. Most of a game’s community enjoying a game are doing just that; enjoying the game. The others will most likely be here insisting that, because the game doesn’t match up to what they consider fun (which, more often than not, is composed of ideas that are mutually exclusive to what most of the game’s community are having fun with in-game), that somehow the game’s broken or bad. Therefore, the whiner:praiser ratio is going to be significantly higher on the forum.
Don’t believe me? Go to any map in the game, even Orr, and ask everyone if they’re enjoying the game. The difference between their words and the general feel of the forums is night and day.
As for your last part, I agree with ArenaNet: farming is low-risk/low-effort, high reward. If you’re getting more from farming that players would get playing the game normally, something’s not right. I don’t agree with their methodology in some cases, but I do agree with the new dungeon system of 60 tokens per new chain clear/20 per repeated chain clear, because it eliminates players trying to loophole the system and get more rewards from the game than those of us who are just playing the game.
These farmers are asking for a handout. Kudos to ANet for going the other way with it.

You have dynamic events, new players, old player with alts and the only alternative to this is mists of pandaria which is I’m sure a fine game, if you like paying 15 bucks a month for a duller experience than GW2 with less dynamic stuff and more spoonfed poop
oh and edit:
The sheer amount of times I see silly complaints in chat irks me, stuff like claims they ruined necromancer because you can’t have a thousand meat shields that replace the need for party members and allow you to solo everything in the game, when we all know full well that multiple pet classes are NOTORIOUSLY hard to balance in any game let alone an mmo
(edited by Hellkaiser.6025)
I’ve noticed the more zealous the fanboy, the deeper the flaws in game.
Dusk, you have your work cut out for you because this game has some serious flaws. Other games don’t have to balance around bots. But you keep pretending it’s a good thing.
for a duller experience than GW2 with less dynamic stuff and more spoonfed poop
I’m not defending WoW, but GW2 is as spoonfed as it gets. I mean seriously, the classes are a shell of their GW1 counterparts. This game is so theme park it hurts.

Not true, a satisfied forum community can exist and is quite noticeable as well when it exists. Instead of seeing 5 threads complaining about the same problem, you’d be seeing 1 or 2. Then there would be tons of threads about aspects of the game.
E.g. When a class is happy with their current state, they don’t have 3/5 threads being about how bad the class is. Instead they have 1/5 and the other 4 are discussions on the class, be it mechanics, builds or even stupid questions, but not whining nevertheless.
I agree with you that the dungeon system is a bit more fair now and yes,the CoF runs were absolutely ridiculous. I’m one of the players that enjoys doing something legitimately, but that also means that when I want to farm for crafting, then that’s exactly what I want to do.
This is what we are talking about, the DR on loot and collectables. This is not a rant about how they fixed exploits like dungeon farming, etc. This is something welcome and was a step forward. Why? Because the fix was towards rewarding those who do the dungeon correctly more compared to those who try to exploit it.
What about normal farming though? The treatment there is a plain and ridiculous punishment for something that we are not responsible for. Nothing more, nothing less.
Nobody’s pretending bots are a good thing.
But nobody in their right mind would call farming fun, or the opposition to it “bad game design.”
If you could learn the difference between an opinion and a fact that would be great. Thanks.
I don’t mind the anti farm code so much myself, but it’s insane to me that the bots are dictating game design, which they most certainly are.
Nobody’s pretending bots are a good thing.

Farming is not fun. Getting what we worked for is fun. When we are being stripped away of that option, then we are being stripped away of some of the fun as well.
Seriously,if I want to get my warrior’s proffessions to 400, then I shouldn’t have to change zones every so often. I want to stay in one kitten place and farm the mobs that give the items I need. If I want mithril and poison sacks, then I should be able to farm mithril and poison sacks.

You are supposed to wander around aimlessly doing whatever is in front of you because that’s Anet’s idea of fun.
Otherwise you are having fun wrong.
I am sorry , but ur problem is with the DR in karma , exp or gold ?
If it is with the karma+exp (account bount) u can ask the company to remove the DR from those and keep it to the <<gold part>>
Or soften it (exept gold) to dungeons
(edited by Killthehealersffs.8940)
I’m wondering if all the anti farming people realize that you need to farm a ton of materials to get a legendary, which is part of the game. You need a LOT of materials. The DR makes it even more of a painstaking experience.

It’s with enemy types. If you kill the same thing over and over again, then they will drop absolutely nothing eventually.
So if you want to farm bloods in order to make items with +power, good luck, especially since drops are type bound as well. Same goes with poison sacks, etc.
“Hey,I need 48 poison sacks to create all 6 items with the stats I need and they only drop from spiders, but if I farm spiders alone then they won’t drop anything in the end.”
You get the idea.
This system also works for ores, trees, etc, eventually they won’t respawn for you.
Bandids there are in the human starting zon + the kessx Hills + skirt drop bags too
Does all humonoids share the DR ?
