Things I want to see in GW2
So all I see are a list of things taken care of by sPvP and tPvP, WvW, a few things that NO ONE wants to see again (TP is your p-to-p trading) after playing GW1, and the new pvp-based reward tracks.
Don’t want player trading. The TP is freakin excellent.
Don’t want duels. Boring and pointless.
Updated every Monday
Aidan Savage → Dude, forgive me, but your sentence is horrible. Didn’t quite understand everything.
- Trading between player : Don’t think its a great idea. You can make the same thing with the TP. I prefer to go on the TP, rather than search for someone to trade with me. I find it a way better system
- Dueling : I aggre. But its not that important since I can go in sPvP for that. Still, its not exactly the right thing, dueling would be nice.
- more sPvP depth : more mode, maps, options, etc. All that would be really nice and was asked for a while now.
- Dummies in PvE. Ya why not. Its nice in sPvP, that would be even more nice in PvE.
- Hardcore Dungeon : Yup its would be nice.
Lankybrit -> ‘’TP is freakin excellent’’ thats great, but there is a group of people ingame that sometimes dont have enough gold to sell something and I think it could come in handy at times. At other times, like you said the TP is freakin excellent.
Duels ‘’are boring’’, well thats just infortunate if you seem to think so, but i respect your opinion and dont recommend you doing them if you feel boredom from duels. However, I think you should respect the opinions of those who actually feel entertained and challenged from dueling in the open world.

Uh.. there’s a lot on this list that’s not “horribly lacking”.
And there’s PLENTY of threads for the stuff that is, actually, horribly lacking.
There’s quite a few people here and in PvP forums wanting more robust PvP options and dueling. There’s plenty of people who want new dungeons with better boss designs above stack-and-zerg. The trading post makes player-player trading horribly obsolete.

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
The TP is great for being a TP but the fact you cannot look up light, heavy armor and only get that is annoying.
The point i want to make about the trading window UI from player to player is that it doesn’t necessarily have to be focused primarily on gold. I am saying players could make announcements on that /business or /trade chat of mine, to for example say something along the lines of: trade 250 globes of ectoplasm for 230 powerful blood.
If the player in this example needs 230 powerful blood then he is gonna have to sell his ectos then buy the blood. In the process he just lost 10% of the gold that his mat was worth. And not only that, but the guy who sold his blood looses also 10%.
The trade can be done without having the players both suffer the unnecessary 10% cuts, if such feature was to be implemented.
That list doesn’t fit with this crowd of gamers I think.
GW2 is more casual than casual. Auto attack AFK that rewards participation, role players in bars, 2D spreadsheet gameplay from the trading post.
Imagine the uproar from the community if they had to succeed in a challenging task to get a fluffy pink Quaggan backpack.
The “unnecessary” ten percent cuts are a gold sink to keep the economy stable. They’re extremely necessary, as the TP is the biggest and most frequently used gold sink in the game. Gold is created all the time. There has to be ways to have it destroyed that aren’t avoidable.
@Tsu regarding PtP trading
False and Illogical for reasons already explained fully in this thread.
A PtP trading system is not a good idea for this game. Although it works well in others, this paticular game wouldn’t support it well, and we have a 100% secure way to trade already.

What? There is a filter system that filters out by armor weight, rarity, level, etc. and display only what you are looking for. I use it frequently.

Sorry but what you wrote was said thousands of times… just waste of time to write it all over again.

You are making sense, but having those mats of T6 material disappear for item recipes are already a gold sink, or should I say a ‘Material sink’. Since that transaction I mentioned in my previous trade scenario example, uses no gold for the transaction, The materials are going to be used in the crafting of something anyway. No player is gonna trade a good for another good (excluding currency) in a hope to make gold profit. That deal will not seem attractive to other potential traders. Therefore, the mats are going to be sinked through crafting. That is not going to affect the gold economy at all.
This list mentions everything I can think of on a basic level that guild wars 2 lacks:
- Player to player trading UI
GW1 had trading between players and it was a scam artists heaven. You can either have that or the TP, not both.
-/business chat that is specific to people who wish to make announcements and trade (players should be able to tick and untick the /business in chat options)
Nope – why bother – GW1 had a trade channel and people still spammed in map chat – useless idea.
- Dueling (occupies a certain percentage of player base when bored )
- Dueling related achievements
- Dueling arenas in open world, if open world dueling is for some reason deemed not appropriate
Dueling is useless except for those that like it – they had it in GW1 and it was annoying and not worth having in a game.
- 2v2 or/and 3v3 arena queues (sudden death – game over for you if you die once)
You can make your own arena for a fee – do it there.
- A small variety of sudden death match arenas along with courtyard
Same as above.
- A competitive score system along with reward tracks that are tied to such arenas ONLY
It is fine the way it is now.
- More team based game modes for tournaments, here is one suggestion:
– Checkmate : A game mode in which a King will be appointed in each team, Kill the enemy King first to win
This is another goofy but unimmersive idea. Not worth it. You want an FPS game mode in a 3D game? – NOPE!
- Dummies in the open world much like the dummies that used to be located in Lion’s Arch’, on which we can actually crit and land conditions in PVE with PVE gear. The dummies in PVP do really well their job, something similar to that but with Endless life points would be great.
They have them already – in starter areas.
- Hardcore mode for dungeons with prestigious rewards ( occasional greens and rares just wont cut it, more gold or perhaps more tokens and UNIQUE skin loots specific to each dungeon)
*No hardcore mode as it actually brings out the ‘LEETers’ in the game. *
- Dungeon bug fixes that allow making shortcuts and quick boss kills
No shortcuts and quick boss kills – make it so that you actually have to slog through the dungeon to get your reward.
Sorry but what you wrote was said thousands of times… just waste of time to write it all over again.
This may be foolish, but I believe perseverance shall eventually be rewarded
Material sinks already happen. That’s not a problem. Materials will be created and destroyed just by playing the game and crafting new items.
However, gold is created and not destroyed by crafting. Therefore there has to be a way to remove it from the economy. Waypoints are an avoidable gold sink, but having a singular trading post is not avoidable, or players must take risk on themselves.
Just because no gold is used for the transaction doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hurt the economy of the game and it has nothing to do with profit. It has to deal with the fact that there’s only one reliable way to destroy gold in this game and that’s the trading post.
By avoiding the trading post, even if no gold changes hands, you and your trading partner do not destroy gold that you’ve created through events. If enough people choose peer-to-peer trading over centralized trading, gold continues to accumulate in the economy. It’s being created, but not destroyed.
This ends up causing inflation on a large scale, as what happened with Guild Wars 1. This ruins the economy and eventually does affect material only trading.

Sidetrack time .. wut? You can filter for just heavy boots, for instance? And not get all the medium and light boots too? When did they put that in and can you provide a screenshot to prove it?
People on these forums prefer to beat a post to death instead of giving their own ideas.
Op you have your own opinions, mine is the following.
This game lacks of hardcore and rewarding content. It also lacks of new explorable high level and low level area.
It simply lacks of new content that is permanent.

- Player to player trading UI
sure, why not

sure, why not
- Dueling (occupies a certain percentage of player base when bored )
- Dueling related achievements
completely overrated in this regard, if this makes or breaks a game for you…
- Dueling arenas in open world, if open world dueling is for some reason deemed not appropriate
gladiatorial arenas in normal gear with bets and spectators would be a new fun pvp mode, i agree
- 2v2 or/and 3v3 arena queues (sudden death – game over for you if you die once)
nah, no sudden death, the game is just not geared for prolonged battles usually and it seems unreasonable to have matches shorter than loading screens
- A small variety of sudden death match arenas along with courtyard
again, nah
- A competitive score system along with reward tracks that are tied to such arenas ONLY
sure
- More team based game modes for tournaments, here is one suggestion:

well, don´t miss that, but sure, why not
- Hardcore mode for dungeons with prestigious rewards ( occasional greens and rares just wont cut it, more gold or perhaps more tokens and UNIQUE skin loots specific to each dungeon)
they cannot do that. Casual paradise game. The moment they give good rewards for harder content, the casual community will explode, BIG TIME.
- Dungeon bug fixes that allow making shortcuts and quick boss kills
What? like 70 percent of all dungeons are skipped like that already.
- Dungeon bug fixes that allow making shortcuts and quick boss kills
I believe that the OP is talking about fixing those bugs that cause skipping and quick boss kills, and not for making the dungeons even more skippable and boss fights faster. Which would be an excellent idea.

All trading is done via TP. Other trading can be done via the mail system.
There is a reason though why direct trading is only possible in Tp and that is the 15% tax which is a real boon for the economy as it slows down inflation by an amount that is calcuable. As you can send trade stuff and money via mail to trustworthy friends, what you want is a way to trade without tax, which will lead to inflation for all players while the earnings of non taxible trades are only in the pockets of people who have enough time to spam in those chats or the time to read those chats.
- Dueling (occupies a certain percentage of player base when bored )
- Dueling related achievements
- Dueling arenas in open world, if open world dueling is for some reason deemed not appropriate
Dueling will destroy the balance even more. period.
Reasons for this are giving in pretty much any thread that deals with dueling.

- A small variety of sudden death match arenas along with courtyard

This is possible in custom Arenas and tournements can be player made. What you want is loot for doing what you say should be implemented for fun while it already exists. While I agree that there should also be ingame tools to organize those tournements I think this stuff is simply a low priority for ANET as most players are not even playing in PvP and an increase in modes etc. will not lead to an equal increase in revenue. We might not like it, but Anet thinks like every other busuiness in ROI.
- Dummies in the open world much like the dummies that used to be located in Lion’s Arch’, on which we can actually crit and land conditions in PVE with PVE gear. The dummies in PVP do really well their job, something similar to that but with Endless life points would be great.
While those dummies are nice, it’s arguably a non necessary feature. Especially in a game that has no DPS Meter. While I think this request is good, there are more pressing things.
- Hardcore mode for dungeons with prestigious rewards ( occasional greens and rares just wont cut it, more gold or perhaps more tokens and UNIQUE skin loots specific to each dungeon)
- Dungeon bug fixes that allow making shortcuts and quick boss kills
While I want these too, the truth is that the gros of the playerbase simply does not care enough to make this a priority. Most players are already challanged by current dungeons and are happy with training open world or wiping in a dungeon for now. The playerbase which wants these dungeons is again to small and the ROI on these developments is even worse then for PvP stuff.
Truth is, ROI is possibly most for QOL stuff at the moment and LS, which is why we see mostly improvements there. Also, you are lacking a clear definition of default systems in MMO’s, therefore you can not simply say GW2 is lacking those things. Especially as GW2 is a non standard MMO

Hopefully Anet will address the TP in the next QoL upgrade. The UI for that thing is dreadful.

The arguments you made on:
-/trade chat, hold weight
-P2P trade UI, hold no weight
-Dueling – hold no weight : You sir are saying,
‘’dueling is useless except for those that like it’’ = some like dueling some don’t.
But according to you, it is therefore annoying and not worth having it in game.
If I apply that theory of yours to anything in the game right now it would be along the lines of :
PvP is useless except for those that like it, therefore it is annoying and not worth having it in game.
Crafting is useless except for those that like it, therefore …. I think my point is clear
2v2/3v3 Arenas – hold very little weight : The fact that we need to farm in game gold to obtain gems to then create an arena IS FINE. However, there needs to be free ways to benefit from ArenaNET arenas with their own set of automatic rules in a competitive context.
You are telling me that I should be satisfied with the way it is right now, and once again if I apply this logic of yours, it would give something along the lines of:
2v2 arenas are possible in custom arenas, therefore 2v2 arena Qs should not be in the game.
Likewise, conquest arenas are possible in custom arenas, therefore consquest Qs should not be in the game. → bad idea
Gamemodes – Hold weight: I randomly gave a suggestion, it doesnt have to be this. It could be anything as long as it essentially team based and not conquest/domination. By the way Domination is an FPS game online mode. Just saying.
Dummies – Hold no weight: I want to see criticals been done along with condition damage, just like your are able to do it the HOTM, with the 3 different armor type dumies. The only difference is that the PVE gear stats should be taken into account for PVE build experimentations and evaluations.
Hardcore dungeons – Hold absolutely no weight: Dungeons right now are in basic terms facerolls. A significant fraction of the player base enjoy extremely challenging content. But there still is another fraction of the player base that do not enjoy it, and still want the rewards.
How to solve this problem ? I want to hear more from you on how to go about answering this question. Saying that hardcore mode should not not be in is not going to be considered as an acceptable solution for some people.

The uphill battle you face here is that the 10% fee is serving its intended purpose. ANet does not consider it unnecessary. A suggestion such as yours to remove something that ANet considers necessary to the game’s economy will get you nowhere.
Personally I was disappointed by the lack of player to player trade in GW2. Its absence adversely affected player interaction for me. If I want to sell a specific individual an item below normal market asking prices, something I did fairly frequently in GW1, I have to send the item blindly and hope they pay.
I never got scammed in GW1, but am opening myself to such to a degree that I never faced there in order to trade as I like in GW2. Removing the ability to trade in order to prevent some people from attempting to scam others is like, IMO, removing the ability to chat in order to prevent some players from attempting to harass others.
Not a huge deal IMO, but still a bit of a bummer.
I dont miss any of those points u listed, tsuyosugiru.
The game is good as it is, without those stuff.
I wonder what makes something qualify as “basic”- that is easy to implement, or that it’s common in other MMO’s, or that it’s essential to the function of the game? I also want to question what distinguishes an absent feature as “horribly lacking” instead of just “lacking”.
I agree that some of the features that you mentioned are absent from GW2.
I can’t comment on how easy these features are to implement or how prevalent they are in other MMO’s, but I would express my personal opinion that none of the features you listed are essential for the game.
The argument of the PtP UI holding no weight (for some reason it won’t let me quote)
It actually holds lots of weight. For each player scammed, wrong items added, wrong amounts added, etc. one can almost garauntee that there will be support tickets started of people complaining they got ripped off, and want the offender banned, and their items returned. This creates a drain on Anet staffing sifting through such complaints. Which ties up resources that could be better spent on other things.
Again this topic has been discussed fully here . Please review it so we can focus on some of the other things that have merit.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you

I have no problem with Player to Player trading as long as it’s secure and also removes 15% of the gold just as the TP does. Of course you will have to understand that someone who uses P2P trading excessively may be scrutinized closely as a RMT mule.
RIP City of Heroes

And without a trade verification window people will be submitting tickets about mistakes, being scammed, etc. And as long as there is in game chat people will be submitting tickets about harassment.
The primary purpose, IMO, of the TP is to act as a gold sink, and to encourage real money gem purchases. I do not fault ANet for pursuing either, but it is a bummer to not be able to sell to a specific individual at below market average prices.
These things aren’t in game for a reason.
It doesn’t “horribly lack” them as an MMO.
In GW1 trading was often used to scam people, the trading post makes player to player trade unnecessary. If someone is offering you something for far cheaper than the TP then they are scamming you, why would they offer it to you for cheap when they could get more on the TP? if you want to swap things with friends you trust you can always use the mail feature.
Dueling is wanted by a small group of people, it is possible in PvP and WvW, we don’t need it in PvE because PvE is meant to be specifically PvE….
These things aren’t in game for a reason.
It doesn’t “horribly lack” them as an MMO.
Agreed.
I may not completely agree with ANet’s decisions on all of these, but, “horribly lacking,” is a bit of a stretch.
I don’t want any of these. A lot of them are things that are absolutely hated in other games.
So, no.
- Dungeon bug fixes that allow making shortcuts and quick boss kills

indeed.
Player to player trading would be awful, I’m so happy GW2 doesn’t have this. Aside from people tricking stupid ppl there are also young children playing every game and they get scammed a lot. Also there are some ppl with low self esteem who have trouble saying no and worry about making ppl angry. So if someone says they just want to borrow something to see how it looks on their toon they have trouble refusing and they get their stuff stolen. I know some ppl will say anyone like this is a loser and you don’t care about them but I have friends who are like this and get their stuff taken in other games. Adding player to player trading would be the biggest mistake anet could ever make.

This can already happen. A lack of player to player trading has no impact on the ability to ask to borrow a piece of equipment.
So much opposition to P2P trade, most of the arguments in this thread in relation to that are hard or impossible to counter. You are actually making me give up on that idea.
