Things noticed over time.
I can deny most of those without kidding anyone, least of all myself.
1 — Who knows? I don’t main warriors, just got 2 to 80 and let them sit.
2 — It may have been small, or too incremental for you to notice, and I’m not saying it’s a massive expansion or anything, but they definitely have added permanent stuff. There have been many threads with people listing it in detail.
3 — They don’t tell us what they’re focusing on (possibly a problem there) but I’m sure they’re listening to it all. It’s their lifeblood to know what people are saying about their work.
4 — Very few people can question the needs of balance without having access to full metrics. However I recall quite a lot of commentary about the “nerf” pointing out that it wasn’t a huge reduction, just a rebalancing.
5 — Subjective opinion. I know I haven’t bothered with trait unlocks on my current leveling project, a necro. I’ve seen people praising and criticizing the NPE. It’s hard for me to have faith that it’s all good, there, but I’m a veteran who hoovered up the alpha and beta videos, commentaries, etc., after many years of MMO play. Maybe the pre-NPE would have bewildered me if I was new? I’ll lean towards “does not improve the game” from my subjective view. I won’t say they have a continuous record of degrading game play.
6 — It does seem like they are fixing it. I’m hopeful we’ll see that new custom button tomorrow that they have outright said they are putting in.
7 — It’s all just speculation but there are some hints and rumors they are in fact listening about an expansion. They could have been working on it for over a year, them not telling you they are doesn’t mean they “never listened.” They just never spoke.
I don’t agree with everything you have stated, and I’m not kidding.
1. No comment
2. Not true – Southsun, Teq, Guild Missions, Wurm, etc.
3. Thank goodness!
4. Ambivalent
5. For you, not for all
6. Yes, they are ‘fixing’ it
7. Time will tell – ‘probably’ being the operative word
8. No evidence
I have no evidence that Gem sales are down, or up, or at an even keel. I would be interested in seeing that information. As for Box sales, I imagine most games Box sales go down after release. /shrug
1. I have not played a warrior in over a year but, to my understanding, there use to be little to no penalty for missing adrenaline skills and the depreciation of it was way too slow. The nerf was needed. I can’t tell you my opinion how how well the new balance is as I don’t play warrior.
2. Actually they had permanent content within the first year. Like it or not, Southshore Cove and the Fractals are permanent. Now if you’re really arguing that they’re finally focusing more on expanding the game instead of changing what we already had, I wholeheartedly agree.
3. I’m half and half on this issue. While I do agree that the community makes a lot of interesting, needed and sometimes even impressive suggestions, I have not only seen but even contributed to the less charitable aspects of the forums. If we really want Anet to change their ways then we, as a community, need to change ours as well. We can’t hold them to a standard that we won’t match and it would be childish to demand that they change first.
4. If you are referring to ferocity, it was more than a nerf to berzerker gear. It affected every gearset that uses ferocity. In that perspective, yes, it needed to be changed so it could be balanced just like all other stats. The only problem is that more changes were needed (healing power in particular) and those changes didn’t follow suit.
5. This is another distinction you have have to step away from and look at from a wider perspective. The new player experience did improve the game for new players. What Anet did wrong is that it was extremely detrimental to veterans whom like to make alts. I have tried it personally and have come to hate it so much that I just can’t be bothered to max another toon while it is in place. On the other hand, I’ve tried ArcheAge and actually found myself taking 45 minutes to complete a mission that should have taken 3 all because I don’t get credit for monsters that someone else hits first. That made me very thankful for how tagging works in Guild Wars 2.
6. Yes, they have said they will re-implement the ability to make specific gem exchanges. The real issue is that they didn’t ask the players about the change before they made it. That would have avoided a lot of drama.
7. The devs are dead-set on making the living world work. I too would prefer expansions but I’m going to give them to the end of season 2 to see if they have truly learned how to make it work properly. However, I am very hopeful because the logistics aren’t adding up. They have stated they have over 200 employees but we haven’t seen 200 employees’ worth of work for the past few months. They just might be making an expansion.
Do you know you could be getting ToT bags at this time?
Denying each of these things is a result of far too much pride in the game, i’ve played 8,900 hours in total and kitten .. i’ve seen the game at its highs and lows, but now it’s quite a bit worse with the NPE and all the other changes.
GW1 equivalent is W/MO mending warrior QQ
i’ll spare a long winded response for 1-8 by addressing your ‘issue’ 3..
3} blind leading the deaf
sorry, that is all.. i apologize if such metaphor offends anyone, as that is not the intention
If i am wrong with any of these things, please let me know. but Anet you need to consider something, listening or not. i’m not going to lie, your sales are down. you think the gem store is going to help? no, you need to listen to people for them to even consider to want to buy stuff from you.
As long as the game makes profit it will stay up. Gemstore is enough to keep this game alive even now and in the future. People will keep paying. Things in this game will only change when the amount of money they get is not enough. After not making enough money NCsoft will propably shut this game down. As sad as it is this game is not prepared for the future with this amount of content (for example no real endgame in GW2 and the lack of challenge). For example Archeage patch 1.7 gives at least the amount of content maybe even more than Anet has added to this whole game over these 2 years. (I am comparing GW2 to AA because GW2 is a little over 2 years old and AA is nearly 2 years old.) If only GW2 would have been in NCsoft games to improve list. “But hey at least we got living story and these new quaggan tonics” while NCsoft spends money from GW2 to Aion content, Lineage content, Wildstar (<- housing was canceled from GW2 and Wildstar got the housing system for example).
The main goal of NCsoft was to make GW2 The Fastest Selling MMO not The Best MMO. It’s either that or Anet devs are seriously lost and have no idea what to do with this game. By now it’s starting to be a BIT late if this is the case.

Pure speculation and conjecture.
VERY little substance or even openings for debate.

plays 12 hours a day, complains that the game is bad
ok
- Warriors main focus was their adrenaline and Anet nerfed it.
I was back on my level 50 warrior recently running around the game with my son. There’s definitely a problem with the new adrenaline decay if you aren’t fighting boss type mobs. Fighting large amounts of mobs that die quickly I couldn’t get my adrenaline to full. Made it seem like I didn’t even have a profession mechanic.
I guess you could say I don’t really need the adrenaline skill if things are dying easily, but it still feels odd.
- It took 2 years for Anet to bring out perminate content for gw2.
They are working a ways out, and it takes time to shift corporate culture. Six months to process the outcry, six months to plan a change, six months to implement…. Just thinking out loud, so to speak.
- They do not focus on what the community says 1/2 of the time.
This is too vague a statement to really defend or argue against. From my point of view, they are responding to player feedback, it’s just that there are other factors that influence how they react to that feedback. Needing gem store income, China launch, NCSoft ties, upper management without clear vision…. there are so many things that can be reasons why we ask for one thing and get something that looks somewhat like it, only very different than we expect.
- Yes Anet nerfed zerker gear a while ago, but was that realy needed?
It would have been nice if they had figured out how to give more play to the other two parts of their trinity to bring them up, rather than just bringing down Zerk. The problem isn’t really how strong Zerk is. The problem is that with dodging, NPC design, and PC design “support” and “control” have limited use and functionality in PVE.
- Anet continues to Impliment things like the NPE that don’t improve the game, they make it worse!
I’d love to hear from them on whether or not their metrics are telling them the NPE worked with people who tried the game during the last free weekend. Other than trait acquisition, I can stomach all of the NPE if it really is helping bring in new players.
- Look at what they did to the gem exchange, does it seem like they are fixing it? no.
They directly said they are adding an option to enter in a specific amount. If they weren’t fixing it, I would have expected vague statements like we’ve had about other parts of the game that are controversial. It takes time to get things implemented and tested.
- They never listened to the community about a expansion pack that would probably bring people back to the game and get them hooked.
This is a big issue that fills many threads. Too complex to reply to in a list like this. But yeah, I’d rather shell out $40 a year for a full expansion than buy 6 outfits from the gem shop. Then again, a lot of people seem to be buying outfits. I expect 6 outfits are a lot cheaper to produce than an entire expansion. So from a business sense, what would you do?
- The mega servers actually decreased the games population, doing so drove alot of people out.
I miss the sense of community from being on a named server together. I feel more anonymous now a days.
- Warriors main focus was their adrenaline and Anet nerfed it.
- meh its fine, take some time to get used to it but nothing class-breaking.
- It took 2 years for Anet to bring out perminate content for gw2.
- yes, its isnt about the size of the content , it is about the size of the game as a whole, so yes it will take time before we see any new content.
- They do not focus on what the community says 1/2 of the time.
- 1/2? thats too much, what does the “community” knows about developing and maintaining mmorpg of the scope of GW2?
- Yes Anet nerfed zerker gear a while ago, but was that realy needed?
- only time will tell, it is a process, maybe their next change will work better the important thing is that they learn something from the process has they go, I do have to agree the zerker gear did need a desperate change.
- Anet continues to Impliment things like the NPE that don’t improve the game, they make it worse!
- dont know what NPE is.
- Look at what they did to the gem exchange, does it seem like they are fixing it? no.
- ok that one does genuinely bothers me, the new TP isnt bad but some things make me miss the old one, the old TP just needed some tweaks like if I just wanted to see specific item’s cathegory, like “only warrior gear” instead of everybody’s gear.
- They never listened to the community about a expansion pack that would probably bring people back to the game and get them hooked.
- “expansion pack”? the old team behind GW1 released entire campaigns (3 of them) massive new continents with new areas to explore new enemies and story line, there was actually one expansion which was some sort tie-in for the GW2, it was alright but not great. personally I would easily dish 60 bucks for a new campaign rather than 35-45 for a lousy expansion
- The mega servers actually decreased the games population, doing so drove alot of people out.
- thats not what I ve seen, I dont think you understand how the megaserver deal works. the only instance in which traditional servers are practical is for PVP and WVW, not for PVE, like why? so PVE players get megaserver , think about it. well thats how I see it after it was explained to me hope Im getting it right..

Alright, so lets get real here. deny any of these and your kidding yourself.

1) games of this sort are in a constant state of change as balance concerns rise.
2) This is false. Permanent content additions have been made predating the two year mark:
a) Southsun Cove
b) Twilight Arbor Aetherblade path.
c) EotM
d) Fractals
3) Also false. They do not act on what the community says far more than half of the time. They could not possibly do so as frequently the community requests mutually exclusive things. One person asks for raids, another asks that there be no raids, etc.
4) Needed ? Not in my opinion.
5) Purely a matter of opinion. Some people have said that they like it.
6) Purely a matter of opinion. Seems like they are fixing it to me simply because Gaile has a track record of dealing squarely with the community (as I see it)
7) False. They may not have acted as of yet but they have listened.
8) Calling you on this one. You do not have the data to support this.
So three out of eight of your points are objectively false, one out of eight is fabricated, and three out of eight are purely matters of opinion….
A whopping total of one of your claims is objectively accurate.
