Thinking of coming back to gw2.
Patches for such improvements are on the way, starting with patch on the 28th Jan, with more big patches due feb/march.
Best advice is to wait until then and check patch notes and see if the improvements are what you are looking to be implemented
You don’t “come back” to GW2… it’s free so you simply turn up the client and login.
The OP was asking for info on changes to the game since he/she played. Changes have, in fact, happened to the game in the interim. It’s not a question of “free” or “sub.”
There is no in-game dungeon finder as yet. I don’t know if there ever will be, but there is a website dedicated to GW2 players finding people to crawl dungeons with. As for WvW and SPvP, I don’t do much of that, so I can’t speak to any changes there in the last few months. I’m sure someone else will be coming along with that info soon, though.
As stated, a new patch is due this month yet and there are some more changes coming in various game areas in the near future.

Yes, you do.
Any time you stop playing a game, resuming play of that game is “coming back” to it. The lack of a subscription is irrelevant in the context that the OP is using the term.
To answer your question, no, there’s still no in-game dungeon finder. New patches in Jan/Feb/March will hopefully be addressing the problems with dungeons as they are right now, but we’ll see. The devs haven’t really specified how much dungeons will change.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
I just look for the wooden doors on the world map
Use gw2lfg.com as your dungeon finder. Tried it once and surprised with the ease of use and grouping.
Yes, I use gw2lfg.com exclusively for all my dungeon grouping needs. Or LA Overflow.
The ingame LFG system is….poorly designed…..
I don’t know much about WvW or sPvP. Everything I’ve heard says they need work.
My experience with sPvP has been negative.
WvW is an entertaining slideshow where half the armies don’t load. But I hear they’re working on that. And making it more rewarding, or something.
I would wait until the Jan patch is out; should show a bit about the direction they’re thinking of going.
tl;dr wait a month
Charr Legionaire
Dragonbrand
Use gw2lfg.com if u need an lfg system. They are working on one atm.
They’ve added a new map to PvP, but the bigger improvements are coming at the end of Feb and March.
If I were you, I would sign on after Jan 28th and use gw2lfg. If that doesn’t peak your interest, just sign on at the middle and the end of each month. They’ve been religious about updates, some more popular then others…some not very popular at all. But they’ll most likely do something to peak your interests.
Good luck.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Come back. We have pie
Use gw2lfg.com as your dungeon finder. Tried it once and surprised with the ease of use and grouping.
And remember to use Spybot afterwards.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”
What so no ones going to mention Fractals? They added the Fractal dungeon to the game, and its the best dungeon by far. They added daily/monthly achievements that reward jugs of karma, soon to add in laurels. Laurels well be used to make the top tier gear. They added paid/unpaid tournaments to spvp. They added in a break out event to wvw. They added like 5 new jumping puzzles. They added over 200 new crafting recipes. You can now store the rare crafting components to your bank like regular mats ( i now have room in my bank, was so happy). You missed the awesome halloween/wintersday events sorry to say. I could go on but you get the idea.
