I played for a while after launch, but I had to quit due to performance issues. I have 8g of RAM, a GTX 550ti, and Q6600 quad 2.4 gz cpu. Win 8 OS. I realize the cpu is the weak link on my rig, but I am able to run any other game. GW2 was terrible in high populated areas like wvw or large scale events.

So I’m wondering if things have gotten better? Have there been changes since launch in regards to optimization for different rigs?

They have optimized things here and there, but the one true answer remains: get yourself a better cpu.

My rig is 7 years old,
Duel Core 2.66ghz
4GB DDR2 ram,
BFG9800GT 3GB DDR3.

It can handle the game running full all the time. Do you have a lot running in the back ground?

Problem is that GW2 isn’t multi-threaded. The Q6600 2.4ghz didn’t have turbo boost either.

Na. As the poster above mentioned, there is no speed boost on my cpu, and its designed for multi-threads. I am downloading the game now. First thing I am going to do is get into wvw and find a large fight. If my fps drops to 12 or lower like it used to, I’ll just uninstall again. I could buy a new PC in a month or so, but by then TESO will be out. I was just in beta for teso and this rig ran fine on high settings so…. /shrug

I’m thinking of coming back as well. I have a friend bugging me about the patch on the 21st. I played at launch and lost steam. I came back for the Super Adventure Box or w/e and thought it was a fun little idea, but it didn’t bring me back fully.

What is the patch on the 21st going to be like?

The prob is, that GW2 doesn’t support after 1 year still not Direct X11, it would definetely make the game run smoother for alot of people, cause of the multicore cpus beign able then to give all of their power and not just only a few one…

I’ve a 8 core pc with 16GB of RAM and all of this power of my pc doesn#t help, due to the game not supportign so far DX11 >.<

The game would look so much better in many places with Tesselation and the other positive features of DX11, like those, that make particle effects look much better and realistical.

I would have thought that GW2 would not use DX11 dew to the game needing a graphix overhall to run DX11. Or am I wrong in thinking that?

I’m sadly no graphic specialist to know that, but what I know is, that ANet announced before the game got released, that GW2 would have DX11 support and sadly the game has it not until today, what is kind of disappointing, seeing in how much you can get out of your pcs more, with just that latest version of DX with better pcs that have more cores than 4 ect.

But I gueses so that this might be a reason, why we see yet no supprot for it, because it surely must have to do something with the graphics needign to get an overhaul or so…
Howeve,r Id like to see an official answer one day about this when and if at all we can still expect one day to see GW2 supporting DX11, or not.

I think , nobody relse than a dev self can answer best all the questions regardign DX11.
Its a topic, that for sure won’t die ou,t until we get a final answer about it.
