This game has killed wow
This has the potential to be a great thread.
For me. I’m a new player. Hi you doing. First time I entered here I didn’t know what to expect. I found myself worthy to play a great game that is crippling the top mmo and shattering it into a thousand pieces.
I converted to guild wars 2 and I have no shame in that.
tru bro, 4 me 2
What does " I found myself worthy to play a great game" actually mean?
It sounds like you directly lifted that from a Nigerian 419 email scam.
I found myself worthy of making glorious contact with you to offer your esteemed services for the placement of $11 million dollars. Yes, I’m sure I’ve heard that line before somewhere. I’ll figure it out. Please tell me if you know what you mean, as I really don’t though.
Oh, welcome to the forum, btw.
Wow is still alive and kicking it’s not killed. In fact it’s doing better than GW2, a lot better. Just saying.
Sky is a troll…
because WoW is totally dead, they are definitely gonna be shutting the servers down next week because GW2 killed it dead.
get over yourself, WoW will die one day but it won’t be because of any single game and it will be a slow process (one that actually started a while ago), as it is now WoW is still going strong, and I’d be surprised if it weren’t doing better or equal to GW2.
WoW will die when blizzard makes a better MMO
5 star thread.
Wow did not just release an expansion because of its success, it released one for fun because dead games just can.

I dunno, seems to be a long since dead horse that is still alive. Just hasn’t fallen over yet. I give blizzard where credit is due – but the game at least personally for me ended up getting very boring and the grind way too much. Not to mention the raiding community has a stick up it’s kitten.
The players on WoW are on WoW not because it’s still good – but because there isn’t many better games on the market. Another reason why it’s still alive is because of the sheer amount of content it has accumulated and new MMO’s simply can’t compete with that.
The only thing that will kill that horrible game (I despise the game mechanics in WoW) is WoW itself.
It remains to be seen whether MoP will do that or not.
WoW is the best MMO by far if you’re looking for a “gear grind” MMO. I played it through launch to mid-BC, then from WotLK through Cataclysm Firelands patch… then I quit. I realized they had nothing new to offer after announcing MoP before the final tier was out. Just a longer grind. (I was doing Firelands dailies on 5 characters.)
Guild Wars 2 is the best game around if you want the MMO experience without having to sink hours into the gear grind just to stay competetive at top tier raiding/pvp. It’s amazing how they put the feel of raid events into all levels of gameplay. Tons of fun that you can pick up and put down at will. No monthly subscription to make you feel like you’re forced to play, because you’re putting money into it.

u could tell us about (what u see in WOW better than GW2) that would be better

More truth to this than the poster realizes….

Simply: Wow isn’t as casual friendly as Gw2 is. If you want more to chase, go to wow, if you love cinematics of forests , stay right where you are.

We compliment each other well, methinks.
Funny considering half of tyria is deserted right now.

I’d like to know which zone in WoW is less casual friendly than Orr.
Just curious.

These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

Blizzard doesn’t even exist anymore, it’s Activision,

Best restaurant in Italy, #5 in world’s top restaurants, top quality food, yet it does more word of mouth than marketing.

I’m just curious as to why you’d go to Orr? You cant farm and the DEs kill your rewards before the events even complete.
Its amusing how many people missed the ‘for me’ bit in the OP. Read first people.
Some people do find WoW unsatisfying after playing GW2. Nothing wrong with that.
It is very obvious many people read the title and post without even reading the OP.

you missed the sarcasm, and the second paragraph it seems.

This thread is just yet another symptom of this ultra-reactionary community. A guy comes in here to say that this game was good (it killed WoW for him… personally) and everyone jumps on it and begins the crap-flinging like a bunch of degenerate apes, on both sides of whatever contrived argument you imagine there being.
Everyone should be ashamed.

This is a dumb post. Activision has literally nothing to do with Blizzard’s side of the operation. The merger was done by Blizzard’s parent company, Vivendi, to essentially rescue Activision from bankruptcy.
Kotick has zero say in anything Blizzard does, which is why you aren’t seeing a WoW expansion every 12 months like Call of Duty has.
This game has not killed at all. It might have killed it for you, but that may not be true for alot of other people. Personally this game has not killed WOW or SWTOR for me. You should’ve made the title “This game has killed WOW for me”

Unless you are a high level executive at either Blizzard or Activision you have no way of knowing how these two companies operate. Calling one post dumb because it’s based on pure speculation and then you go and do the same is well…..you get the point right.
WoW will die when blizzard makes a better MMO
They are probably working on WoW2 as we speak. They need to add a dodge mechanic, greatly upgrade the graphics, do away with factions, and have it set in a modern or at least Victorian fantasy setting since medieval fantasy has been done to death. It should basically be the WoW world just in the future, but maybe not so far in the future it becomes science fantasy (like Star Wars or Star Ocean) instead of modern fantasy (like Final Fantasy VII or the Mother series).
Give it a few weeks until you reached max level, got all exotic gear, 100% map completion and finished your story. Have fun with the amazing endgame after that!
One thing is to say you prefer GW2 over WoW, which I find a very valid opinion.
But this does NOT mean that GW2 killed WoW, in any way at all… not just because you ‘want it to be’.
I’m in GW2 and my friends are raising panda’s.
They say they’re having a ball, and my guild has never been so crowded in a year obviously.
I’m having issues of low population and fast respawn timers hindering my solo trip in GW2, I’m level 24 on my leveling engineer and already had to swap servers.
Neither my friends liking MoP, or me not seeing many people is any real evidence of anything.
But they are still less anecdotical than the OP’s post…
Yeah last I checked WOW still had like 10 million subscribers hardly KILLED with that many army men.
Blizzard has more active players paying 15 a month, than total copies gw2 has sold… perhaps even double that…

Yeppers and with the new expansion I’m sure those numbers just increased again.

Yep… though wow isn’t as strong as it once was… basically after vanilla and tbc the cycle becomes:
1. Expansion launches, huge surge in play
2. Expansion consumed in 1month to 6months depending on player
3. Player unsubs til next expansion, population goes down.
Rinse and repeat.
The last official sub numbers published by blizzard themselfes where 9 million subs.
Even at the hight of 12 million subs only abot 4 million of them paid monthly fees as there is no such thing in China etc.
Blizzard has not announced any official numbers for the sales of this last expansion when usually at this point they boasted with new records.. I wonder why
Why would we care what happens to Wow here? Why should we be happy about its demise. It is probably an enjoying game for people who play it and both are not exclusive in any way. On the other hand, OP just expressed his fun of joining GW2 and Vermillion Hawk is correct. The bile spewed in this forum is revolting in general, but I guess that just is today´s internet generation.
What’s the whole deal with ‘having killed WoW’ anyway?
Be glad if GW2 is a great game for you, try to improve it by giving feedback if you see issues.
But WoW isn’t dead, or dying, because of any game out there.
woW is dying slowly because of player mentality, trade chat mentality if you will. WoW will slowly start to lose it’s playerbase over people wanting everything fast, pvp imbalance and all that sort of thing.
WoW is NOT dying because of GW2, it simply isn’t. It’s dying out of itself, real real slow.
A topic like this is simply idiotic.
GW2 being great has nothing to do with it killing WoW, which it simply hasn’t.

No… blizzard often takes up to a week to announce their sales numbers… (It has not been a week since mop launched)
Why people are so content with just assuming such grossly inaccurate things is beyond me.
