Alright. So, I have been playing this game a long time. I kinda feel bored about it. What i feel this game is that this game is just so peace. You can not kill others in the leveling area, can not duel others, even can not check others’ armor. There is like totally no drama!!! But, you know, drama is actually the main thing keep people playing games.

However, those are not the main thing I want to talk about today. Now, here is the big question. Where is the kittening guild wars!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was interested in this game, it is because I like the idea of “guild wars”. The idea of my guild is better than yours! Your guild is junk! You know, dramas!!!!!! Guild wars 1, at least have GVG pvp. But for Guildwars 2, it’s not making sense to me. Where the kitten is the guild wars?!!!! Why don’t you guys making the game name “Zhaitanwars”! GG!!!!

Go WvW, join a WvW guild that has interest in taking and holding keeps…. delve into the WvW matchup threads that discuss the dominance of Guild X or the way Guild Y leaving a server will cripple WvW…. all the drama you want and more.

I gotta agree about something, i really miss open world pvp, camping on leveling zones or stuff like that you could see in ‘that’ other game, oh god the low leveling pvp was just massively fun.
I know we have WvWvW, but thats not the same. But sadly this will never come, since we have no factions, unless we make all races enemies to each other, not like i wont be playing cause thats missing, but its a small empty void i felt while leveling.

I think we have met the guy who griefs lowbies in the other 8 mmos, pvp’s undergeared people in the other 5. Sorry, Guild Wars 2 left the drama for the drama llama who has recently been moved to eastern Europe for treatment of strained work load.

You can GVG in WVW technically, just on a different server. You can sPVP against guild mates for practice. This game makes sure kittens like these don’t kitten everything the kitten up. So if you can’t handle the lack of lame drama from lesser MMO’s you will just have to move on. Because we are not kittening around here, this is srs bsns. For the kittens.

Guild wars had to do with lore, not with the players doing guild vs guild.

I suppose they should have thought it through when they named it, but it’s named for a historical event in game lore, not for actions you can take in game. There was a time in Tyrian history when guilds fought. A troubled time. NPC guilds, though.

Perhaps we should have a thread discussing what name might have made more sense for the franchise.

you fight Other guilds all the time in WVW and there are in fact vary recognizable guilds in WVW and you see them alot in the WvW forums

and you dont have to fight your own guild members to know that your getting your butt kicked in WvW or not.

If I want drama I’ll watch a dodgy Soap Opera, I have have enough drama to deal with in real life and do not want more in-game.

Having said that I also would like to see Guild vs Guild pvp, I really enjoyed this in GW1.
I hope it will be introduced at some point, GW2 is still a very young game that is growing and improving imo.

Or was the franchise called Guild Wars because that was the principal type of PvP in GW1, the one that Anet organized tournaments with real money prizes and that they hoped would develop in to a popular E-Sport, and then made up some “lore” to tie it in the story?
Seems a pretty stupid name if it was just because of the “lore” as they could have gone for something like “Shiro’s Daggers” 1 & 2 or “The adventures of Gwen” or anything that didn’t leave the impression that it could well be a game mechanic.

Yup, I’ve been feeling this a lot as well. The least they can do is add global chat, I’m pretty sure some guild drama is going happen on it for sure. From experience, the fun MMOs are usually the ones with the most guild dramas. It makes me sad that there is no world PvP, would make the game so much more interesting.

So far it seems like overall 8 players out of 10 do not want level cap increase.
Hopefully Anet caters to the majority.

“Guild” Wars is not about guild wars. Eve Online is not about a naked chick and a snake.

But if you want drama, and corp warfare, and griefing and generally waving your online snake around you should check out Eve.

I don’t want you checking my armor. What I am wearing is none of your business. What does checking armor have to do with duels and pvp anyway? Checking armor just helps create elitism. As far as killing others in lvling area.. The Waring guilds died about 250 years ago. Once again it would only promote elitism.

I believe EVE is to be understood in a more metaphorical sense, like for instance humanity having a new beginning in a far end of the universe after the wormhole back to “earth space” unexpectedly collapsed, to cut it short. Reversely eve also means evening, which would also make sense as the general state of civilization isn’t terribly good and it’s only getting more violent and belligerent with every step, but it’s not all out war yet.

How is Guild Wars supposed to be understood? Or is it just a completely random name that was chosen because it sounded cool? :o

Tangent point here – drama gets people to look at something, but peace is what keeps them watching.

Good example is that reality TV that is heavy in relationship building and “nice” stuff gains higher watcher and follower numbers than reality TV that is based around conflict and contest, this is entirely against the fact that reality TV is never any good and should not be watched by anyone.

He just wants to cream himself when he ganks fresh level 2s with Exotic 80s in Queensdale. He even said that “WvW isn’t the same,” most likely because everyone is upleveled and he cannot get stupid easy kills.

I never got why people say that WvW isn’t open world PVP.

Anyway slightly back on topic. Wizardry Online – open pvp, plus potential permadeath plus looting your opponent’s corpse.

While it might be nice to have a guild vs guild pvp similar to GW1’s, it’s not needed at all. We have sPvP tournaments that are essentially the same thing. A GvG guild is going to have thier primary team of players for competition, and that isn’t really any different than signing a team up for a tournament. Just get some friends/guildmates, and do that. The only difference in GW2 is that you don’t have to be in the same guild to do it, but I would guess that a lot of teams are in a guild together.

You can prove that your pvp team of friends/guildmates is better. Guilds exist as a social aspect, so no guild can be better than another. It would be like trying to say your Mumble server is better than someone else’s Mumble server. There is simply no ground for a guild to be “better” on. The only way to have a true “my guild is better” pvp match, would be to have the full guild in it. This is just not viable because the matches would have to balance teams. Your 122-player guild would be in a 100vs100 matchup, leaving out a portion of the population, and removing the aspect of the “whole guild” being better and replacing it with the “chosen team” being better.

If you want open world pvp (ganking/griefing) in the pve world, there are some great games for that. EVE Online is probably the best example of this type of game done right. In GW2 it would just end up with high level players ganking level 3s in the starting zones, and that isn’t a fun fight for anyone. It’s pathetic amusement for someone that can’t win a fight versus an equal opponent. You can get close enough to this in WvW by fighting upscaled players. While you’re at it, take your whole guild into WvW and try to prove they are better than an entire server of other players.

Same here, been thru drama with leetists and jerks all throughout my mmo lives if you wanna call it that. Don’t need any here or in the next game I get, have enough in RL to last two lifetimes as well. Been thru 2 guild splits, poachings, rude players, etc etc. Don’t need anymore honestly.

Oh and they said something about making changes to the WvW system to make it more fun for guilds to get directly involved. Not sure what that means yet.

I’d much rather them add a fully loaded and fun fishing system.

I agree, though to a point. Going forward there should be more focus on defining what it means to be part of a guild. At the moment, it just seems more about buffs than organized WvW or scenario play.

There is enough drama on the forums to keep your “fix” fixated for weeks on end… and if you need more just join in on the hyperbole.

As far as guilds go… wvw features a lot of Guild recognition, people are starting to recognize guild tags and target them etc and so forth. Join one that is notorious and profit… or make your own and become a force to be recognized.

Guild Wars is a reference to a historical event that happened in lore, not that player guilds would be fighting each other.

Also, go to WvW if you want open world PvP.

Also, the game being Drama free is a breath of fresh air, and I highly doubt Arenanet would change that.

Btw you guys realize he is talking about drama BETWEEN guilds. He is not referring to the drama within your guilds and which guildmates you hate or whatnot. He is referring to the competitive nature between guilds. Like which is the #1 guild on the server etc.
