Our guild is pretty casual. We have runs with guardians and runs without them. If you really want a challenge, try doing Project Alpha with a mesmer, an ele, an engie, a necro and a thief, because we’ve done it. It was pretty tense. lol

‘this game isn’t for you’ is a common reply to many posts and it is sadly and actually a true reply for the most posts. I really believe that devs prepared this game for a really specific(even unique) type of a player base.

I can say you have a point there. Guild wars is a nice game in general, I like the exploration and the story, but i feel that they are not enough to keep me on game for a long time.

This game needs some cool dragon mounts, much more dungeons and much more varieties in pvp.

The gear also needs to count some more. What is the point of getting a good gear if it doesnt make me stronger? And what is the point of lvling if my lvl keeps dropping down?

soft – core players may not enjoy your ideas, since they dont have enough time to play, they will be ravaged by hard&medium-core players. But since hard&medium-core players are the main income of games AND the majority, game should be focused more on them, and less on the low core’s

I have been playing for around a month, and I started to getting bored already! I am lvl 80 with 80lvl rare armor and weapons and I cannot solo 75lvl events. I hate wasting my time looking for party, be the same with someone thats 30 lvls lower than me, and most of all i dont like the lack of purpose.

This game is really good, please look after it. Focus more on the Hard-core gamers, make your efforts and your time spend for gear and weapons worth!

P.S. I prefear to pay a monthly fee and have an epic gaming experience like World of Warcraft, than play for free and get bored in a month.

I can dispute it. I’ve played many games with monthly fees and not all of them delivered more, or even better content. Some do, but not all by a long shot.

I’m divided on the removal of trinity. I liked it a bit but hated it as well.

I think Final Fantasy 13 had a very nice system, although it was a single player game. You still had roles like tank/heal/dps/debuffer/buffer etc… but the neat thing was that any character can fill these rolls. So throughout the battle you are constantly shifting roles to adapt to the situation for example:

Boss fight begins.
Everyone shifts to dps/debuff roles.
Boss starts doing some damage.
One person transforms to tank role.
Tank getting low on health.
Another person transforms to healer role.
Boss does a massive attack, full party left almost dead.
Everyone shifts to healer role to quickly recover.

GW2 system is more fun.
Boss fight begins.
Everyone stays in dps.
Boss dies.
Everyone teleports to another wp to camp another boss.
Oh, wait….

Except in dungeons and fractals where that’s not completely true. If you’re talking about open world bosses, well, that’s pretty much the same as open world bosses in every game I’ve encountered them in.

Not true with Sha of Anger.

Looks like people are still missing the point. Guild wars is indeed a very nice game, the world is amazing the exploration by it self is also cool..

But after a month its BORING! I understand that Arena net wans to create a unique experience, so the players feel challenge in any place, either its a lvl 1 or lvl 80 area.

This is a GREAT idea, I agree… But after a while its getting really really boooooring… At a point i dont wan to face a challenge anywhere in the map. I just wan my efforts for lvling and gathering all that gear to count for something, and have something more to do rather than exploring.

According to PvP:
Some battle grounds would be cool, because the distances in WvW are insanely wide and most of the time you walk instead of fighting. Having to pvp in the same area over and over, eventually will become boring as hell. Random arenas were a good idea, but should have more player modes and different settings, ex. capture the flag, kill the Boss, resource control, opponent annihilation etc. etc….

The point of raids and raid bosses give you a VERY GOOD REASON to gear up. Otherwise there is no point of lvling and gearing since from lvl 8 i can fight huge bosses! The hole idea of gearing is to be strong enough so you can stand in the MOST epic experience online games have to offer, raids.

if anyone can fight bosses out as events, why do people need to gear up and go to raids. it will be the exact same thing…. and after a couple of months you will realize this lacks of purpose…

Now for the casuals, they will gear up for sure, just much slower than someone that plays more than them. And in pvp they shouldnt be able to compete with people that have much more play time and better gear than them. No pain no gain.

If my efforts really count for nothing, i dont see a point of playing this game, its like i am playing dead space online or something…. after a month i am bored of it and i wan a new game!

The reason why i compare it with WoW is because wow managed to stay alive a loooong time! even its graphics are sooo outdated, the majority of gamers are still on this game because it gives a PURPOSE! I would like to see the same thing on Guild wars 2.

ArenaNet, if you ever read my post PLEASE consider to do something about it! This game really has the potential to be the best MMO!

There’s a whole lot of us out here. No one knows how many. Why? Because when you’re a raider there’s a very specific activity you do, and you KNOW you’re a raider. When you’re a PvPer there’s a very specific activity you’re into. But when you’re an immersion player, just enjoying the open world exploring and having fun, there’s no real name for that. So many people I’ve talked to share my play style, but there’s no word for it, because you’re not really doing any specific activity.

I believe that Guild Wars 2 is popular for players like me, because other MMOs don’t even take us into account most of the time.

Nice post. I think we can call them Gamers.

So I suppose, this game isn’t for you is pretty accurate. Maybe you didn’t understand exactly what this game was going to be when you started. Heck I don’t but I’m giving it a shot, most games in the beginning weed out certain players and attract others after a while, after folks understand ‘what kind of game it really is.’

That’s the problem, it tries too hard to be a game for everyone and not a game for anyone specific.

There is no weeding, there is just countless updates that keep you hanging on for something that is relevant to what you want from the game.

I didn’t expect GW2 to be perfect right from Launch.
- I expected that there would be issues, and stuff that needed tweaking since they went about making GW2 in an entirely new direction, when it comes to gameplay and how we’re supposed to work together.

- The Manifesto is their goal and they’re working towards it. I expect that it will take time, but I’ll do my best to give some constructive feedback so that they might improve their game.

A lot of other games have had a long time to add extra features whereas Guild Wars 2 have added some entirely new ones such as the One-Time Events and other stuff that hadn’t really been experimented with in the same way before. Of course they haven’t got all those extra features that other MMO’s have.

Give it some time. You don’t trample on a flower when it is a seed, because it might turn into something beautiful (or in GW2’s case, something epic).

I’m not entirely satisfied with the game yet, but it does a lot of things right… for no monthly fees, I might add. We will experience better content as they learn how the best way to go about making it with these new game designs and concepts is.

Then, perhaps, this game will be for all of you (or most of you).

*the different maps in “amateur pvp” allow for your different modes of play, besides it’s AMATEUR pvp, no one gives a crap.
*Just cause there aren’t any formal rankings or listings doesn’t mean it’s impossible to have fun, some people need to get out of their little boxes.
*There is plenty of pro-pvp, just cause you’re bad at it doesn’t mean it’s not there or unplayable.
*If you like open world pvp then play WvW more often. Sure you can’t go around one shotting lowbies like in some other MMOs, but thats not open world pvp, thats ganking.
*There are too many goals in this game I have to reach still that it’s a bit overwhelming. Just cause the OP doesn’t want to do some of them doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

So many whiners on MMO forums…… ridiculous…….

EDIT: But no I don’t think this game is perfect at all, no game is ofc, but there are still soemthings I’d like to see done. Just thought I’d clear that up before someone goes “PHANBOYZPHANBOYZ!”

One item not brought up yet:

—> If you have RSI/Carpal Tunnel (or just susceptible to it), this game may not be for you. Give it a shot anyway.

This was the reason I ‘hate most traditional MMOs’ as stated in the original manifesto, and I had hoped that this would be different here. Unfortunately that does not appear to be the case, at least for the weapon commandset. Have not given up yet, but the fact that an hour of really cool WvW has caused me to take 2+ weeks off (with pain all the way from my fingers to my elbows) is a bad sign.

Until GW2, the only ‘online gaming’ I had been exposed to was Eve Online and Myst Online. (That’s about as far apart in the spectrum as you can get. ;-) Plus some very-long-ago exposure to virtual worlds like SL. And none of those caused me any problems like this game has. So perhaps I’m just not physically able to play a traditional MMO; I’m still trying though.

I like to view MMOs through the lazy eye of a Systems Admin, and the critical eye of a

The game is not dying, far from it. This is just the usual drama you see on forums for every game, including WoW. I can’t speak much to PvP except to say that some people are playing it. There’s also WvW, which is sort of like an open world PvE server with limited maps and no strictly PvE quests — oh, and siege engines.

What a load of crap. You come over to the GW2 forums from the WoW forums just to troll away new players?

My guild, a heavy PvE and WvW focused guild that has partaken in many tPvP events as well currently has 260+ members.

And we’ve just made it into the top 10 most populated guilds on our server, FA.

Yeah there are a lot of small ones, but it’s easy to find the big ones, just go to WvW and find a common guild tag, ask for invite then find the core part of it that does s/tPvP. There are plenty of people doing it, you just have to not be a jerk or a troll ofc lol

EDIT: And oh yeah, don’t worry Chaos, it’s not even close to dying, that’s just a rumor many jealous WoW/SWtoR/TERA/etc fans are making up and spreading to try and justify staying with their crappy games.

This game is for me because:

1. I don’t want to pay a subscription fee in order to play a game.
2. I love exploring and being rewarded for it. If I want to just walk around at my own phase and take in the beauty of this wonderful world I should be able to do so without feeling like I am wasting my time. And in GWII I never feel like I am wasting my time just walking around exploring.
3. I like being challenged, even just a tiny bit. I am crazy about the fact that even at max level I can get my butt kicked in a starting area if I am not paying attention.
4. I like simplicity. The UI/weapon skill system in GWII was a little confusing to me at first, but once I figured out how it worked I was amazed. I can’t recall how many times I have been confused in games because there are so many abilities on my screen that I need to manage.
5. I like casual PvP. In GWII I just have to build my character smartly in order to function properly. I don’t have to grind for weeks in order to be able to compete. I am not talking about balance in any way, I PvP way to little in GWII to know anything about it.
6. I like not having to worry a whole lot about stats. Sure, stats will help you a bit, but I have never had a full set of excotic gear, or even rare, and I have never had any problems. I don’t even use sigils or runes.
7. I like a good story. Sure, the cutscenes in the persoanl story can be a little stale every once in a while, but it gets the job done. There are only two things I don’t like about the personal story. 1. If I was able to do it solo all the way up to the last chapter, why not allow me to finish it that way? 2. Why did so many of the best characters have to die, while the only one I didn’t like had to survive, and become the great hero?
8. I like a changing world. Even though some of the dynamic events restart way too quickly ‘cough’ maw ‘cough’, I find it so amazing that I can level up multiple characters in one zone and have completely different experiences because of the dynamic events.
9. I like not having to pay for anything other than the box and still recieve more content. Be it small updates, a living story or bug fixes. I bought this game because I valued the content that was available at release to be worth the price of the box. Since I am not paying a subscription for the game, I don’t expect nearly as much future content to be added, with the exception of expansions etc.
