One of the big problems with this game is that it’s difficult to…"plan an adventure"
In normal MMO’s you can plan things to do by looking at your quest log and saying “I want to do this and maybe this later”

But in this game it’s much harder to figure out what to do because there’s nothing in the game that tells you what’s going on in the world. All you have is a big map that tells you nothing about the hundreds of things that are going on at that moment. And unless you are very smart, and remember what happens everywhere in the world, chances are that you will forget most of the events and backstory of what goes on in the world. It’s very frustrating to not know what goes on in a zone although you’ve already been though it two or more times.

I think that is one of the flaws of the game is that it’s so hard to remember and keep track of all the things that go on in the world. For example I haven’t been to the Fields of Ruin zone in quite a while, and I remember almost nothing about what happens in the zone, aside from maybe one or two fuzzy details. Another one, Bloodtide Coast, I have absolutely no clue about anything that happens in this zone. And I don’t want to have to go through the area again in an attempt to re-learn what happens there.(only to forget everything a few weeks later anyway) I have 100% map just fyi.

There NEEDS to be some sort of event journal that keeps track of what events you have done in the world, where they are in the zone, and a basic description of what happens. This will make the players feel much more connected to the zones that they have visited, because they will be able to look back at what they have done, and they will be able to go back to these areas with a much more detailed backdrop of the area. They can say “ok I remember this event, I want to go back here and revisit these characters” or “I want to see the state of the world at this spot or maybe redo this event or maybe do it differently”.

The crux of the problem is that there’s so much in the world that it’s hard to remember it all, so it’s very difficult to feel significantly connected with the world. What you all think?

Couldn’t disagree more. Part of the fun in the game for me is heading into areas and finding things going on. It’s part of the exploration aspect. If I can’t remember an event in an area, that’s fine…makes it better, actually.

I would much rather roam around finding interesting things to do than to have a checklist that tells me that an event sometimes fires in location X if I talk to NPC Y. There’s enough of that in other MMOs. No thanks.

There’s over 3,000 dynamic events in the game – that would be a book! With different fail and success states, quite the undertaking to produce that.

You can always check the wiki for documented events if you like

I think this would be so amazing! One of the better ideas I’ve seen on the forum. A “Hero’s Compendium” book built into hero page as another choice on the left side. It could be filled with lines of “————-” that are filled in as each event is completed. Have them sorted by zone, with each zone being under a collapsable bar. This would give completionists a reason to scour Tyria and find / discover every event. I am sure there arr lots of cool events I haven’t done yet, but would with a feature like this.

It doesn’t even have to include a loot discription (chest types), just have it lore based.

Thank you for the idea, though now I am sad we don’t have it.
