When we have both the daily Aquatic slayer and Maguuman Killer I always like to head down to Spiral Waypoint in Caledon Forest. Every time I do, I can’t help but wonder at this big old crab. It would make for neat boss event, or something. I don’t even know if this one is still alive looks kinda dead to me.

Butt crabs will be the next menace.

It was a huge boss event, on the last two beta event weekends when the sylvari and asura areas became available. It had a ridiculous amount of HP, seriously took longer and was more frustrating than the original thaumanova fire elemental. Still have no idea why it was removed though, rather than re-balanced I mean.

There was a mini-boss event for that crab in beta. I have no idea why it has been deactivated, I remember enjoying it.

I still have no idea why it was removed instead of rebalanced.

Probably not more frustrating than fire elemental was in beta, remember everything was much harder then before being toned down

Looks like he was. Sorry, it was the only vid I could find and the frames in it suuuuck, but the beta had poor optimization at the time. I can see why they just removed it. He didn’t seem to be very polished as a boss encounter. The poor thing could barely move. Not even sure what makes it such a threat.

Ahh, I didn’t get a chance to play in the beta, I started during the three day headstart in Aug. I always wondered about that guy. Shame I didn’t get a chance to fight him. Any chance you might add him back anet?

So, just like Shadow Behemoth, Claw of Jormag, Shatterer, old Tequatl, etc. Haha You have a good point though, but it was in a lvl 5 (?) area so it didn’t need to be much of a threat anyway.

Seems it has been replaced by the champion hylek in that area.

That’s a sexy crab. :o I never noticed him before. At least I think I never noticed him before.

and Caledon is my favorite zone in the game. /shame

I love Caledon, and I would love to see this crab once in a while. Underwater combat ftw!

No chance I’m afraid. With the current state of some or most world event you can tell no one in Anet cares about world bosses anymore.

Good news, you CAN fight a giant crab that looks (and probably behaves) exactly like this one does (or did)!

The crab doesn’t do a lot though and the Krill just have a lot of HP
