he does have some points tho i was disappointed with what he thought should be the sole focus of fixing the pve system. Right now I’d say getting the bugs worked out of the classes and balancing them in pve (because they broke many of them in order to balance pvp about two months ago) should be the focus. Second should be making the servers link together in lower level and high level zones. and third should be making the ascended armor available via karma vendors outside of dungeons. Those three would completely fix most of the pve problems we’re seeing.

I’m with you on the servers, in hind-sight it looks like this would have been a better plan.

Each zone is a server, when you go to a Zone, lets say Queensdale, everyone in GWs’2 is on that server zone. When you hit the player limit for the zone, it goes to an overflow server for that zone, there could then be several overflows. This would make it more like GW’s 1, with one world server.

This way all players from all servers would be able to play together and I bet if you bunched them all up like that, all zones would be alive for a looong time to come, several would have overflows 24/7.

I agree with pretty much everything he said, but…

this WvW solution is great imo, in fact if that was implemented… I might just reinstall the same day

There should then be some sort of interface where you can see how long each tower/keep has been under control of whoever is occupying it. Then certain places would become high priority. Suddenly, you could see the whole population flow towards these points, creating huge epic battles, where the offenders want to take it no matter what and the defenders want to keep it no matter what. That would be the best WvW change possible imo.

- WvW is way too predictable. That is exactly what I think. It lost all the excitement it had in launch because of that. But twisting score system won’t help.

- PvE map is too big. Well, PvE world is not that big. We have enough of players to fill the map. The problem is for most of content there is no points for people go to do it again. Dungeon have way better reward. Dragons or some DE chains in Orr are okay. The other DE? Hell no, it is complete waste of time. Merging server is bad in marketing point of view. And even they do so, you still haven’t solved the core of the problem that is there is no reason people do low-level content.

Scoring changes in WvW won’t change the fact that defending objectives is boring. You’re literally standing and waiting for enemies to come. Dolyaks move slowly and a single enemy player can kill them. Moving as a huge zerg is the consequence of having strong keep doors and walls. Be glad WvW even has players, because it won’t have in 1 year.

Some good points, I’m sure some fixes are being worked on but it may take time. I think I would wait until after Christmas to accomodate growth before consolidating servers. I like what he said though he loves the game and wasn’t taking a negative approach. I also liked the fact that that he offered constructive suggestions for solutions. I still think its a young game and it needs time to age.

I’ve seen a few of his videos and he always struck me as fairly down to earth and high quality. This video is no exception.

Re: PVE, I agree with his sentiments, but even if servers were merged, it wouldn’t get me or many 80’s back into other zones. Granted, if there are enough new players and alts, it might not be an issue — to them. But it’s still an issue to me as an 80 who would really like to revisit all the zones. One of the huge things promised for GW2 before release was that all zones would be viable at 80 — and now that’s just not the case at all. I want to farm for my legendary all across all zones but now, I’m stuck in Orr. That’s a complete waste of all the other zones and the devs time. And frustrating for me since I was expecting to be able to play all zones at 80.

I agree with all

Chasing a massive zerg all around a map killing an odd enemy in WvW is not fun, but they have a WvW patch incoming so we will see.

PvP isnt fun for me so i’ll defer that too others

PvE yeah the world is Large and i agree, maps are dead, major reasons are Dungeons, mostly the broken FotM has killed a lot of PvE.. That said my major Criticisms are BUGS, and broken content hinder PvE as much as limited populations, on top of that the Class imbalances (certain classes cannot solo as well as others Ele, thief etc) these imbalances also hinder the PvE a lot.

And finally on PvE the loot restrictions, nothing good drops in PvE, really nothing, even rares are boring now and they are insanely limited, up the drop rates on everything (including t6 mats and worthy drops from Champs, Vets etc) and you’ll see PvE come alive

GW2 was designed to be a plain game, simple, easy game, no competition allowed, holding hands community where you must be nice to everyone, no grief, i mean even in the forums ’’kitty’’ for real? a child’s game.

Then like x% leaves because thats not they really wanted, X% gives suggestions which will change the mechanics of this game (is not bad to give suggestions is just, wasnt supposed this what you wanted?), X% likes the game and dont care about whatever is modified or they simple adapt and continue to play perhaps nothing better to play or they still like it, X% leaves because some aspects were changed, X% still wanting to create gw1/wow in gw2, X% leaves in rage because bugs, and some unbalance stuff which still are there since forever, etc.

Nothing new here to be honest, stuff like this has been said since 25 august from some people, this place is really entertainment fun to see everywhere, and ‘’He deserves more subs and viewers he has good content’’ giggled

That guy was spot on and I agree with pretty much everything he said. Especially the whole server merging thing.

I play on a full server (Tarnished Coast) and I still run into many zones where I see, maybe, a very small handful of players.

Another change I’d like to see is for there to be more reward for going back into lower level zones. Right now it just isn’t worth going to a lower level zone when you could make a lot more gold for the same amount of time from farming in Orr.

Not so fast. That hasn’t panned out yet. And still what was suggested from Anet is much different than everyone playing in the same zones/server for PvE, then overflow.

Ok, calling for server mergers on Nov 9, when almost every server was already full = a dumb thing people say cuz they heard it and thought it was smart in some other game.

Calling for a decrease in the size of spvp hot join teams down to 6 is completely stupid because there’s limit of 5 already, if you care enough to choose. He doesn’t even know how the game works…

The guy may have some great videos, I just don’t think this one is clever, well-done, nor offering anything new. But I’m sorry to offend, if you’re big fans of his, then go for it, watch it all.

THEY.ARE.NOT.FULL

The server population list is not a list of currently playing players. It means that there can be no transfers to the server because they have enough registered players anchored to it.
That server population readout will read as full, even when everyone logs out at once, the only way it won’t be full is if a couple of thousand if not more players transfer to another server all at once. To claim otherwise is wrong

Well, he didn’t really touch on the PvE too well… What Guild Wars 2 PvE needs is incentive for players to circulate throughout the world more (not just zerging one or two events). Things like having a decent chance at getting rare mats like ectos from chests and boss hunting, etc. Things like this would help to get players away from the zergs and into the world more, making the areas feel a little more alive.

Also, there needs to be alternative ways to getting legendary mats, as this seems to be one of the main reasons for the zergs in Orr (farming for mats, and items to sell for gold to buy mats).

I mean there are a lot of really cool events in the world, but no one really does them because you can’t get anything good from them that feels really worthwhile.

There are also a lot of really cool elements in PvE like the three Orders that could be used as a sort of faction mechanic to allow players to do special activities and events after they choose one in their story (and of course there should be a chance to change, although not easily enough that players are changing Orders left and right).

Of course there are plenty of bugs and balancing changes and fixes needed for things too.

I personally, believe they really need to focus on exploiting elements and areas that are currently in the PvE before creating anymore major additions to PvE.

Lost shores currently lies empty and I think it was too early to add a new area (especially one that no one plays in now after the event ended).

The Fractals dungeon seems to be going in the right direction; less combat grinding and more puzzles and stuff in between. One thing that was kind of disappointing was the number of loading screens though.

P.S. On another note; I have been thinking about what I heard Anet said in the past about mounts and how they minimize the scale of the world and therefore not wanting to have them in game.

I ask then; why do they have so many freaking waypoints then? This fragments the game even more so than mounts, making it feel psuedo instanced rather than open. I don’t care for mounts by any means, but… what the heck?

Meh, the main issue with PVE was that they didn’t go far enough with the drops system. They partially alleviated that with the Lost Shores patch, in that it provides the same drops for level 80s even in level 55-60 ca zones. But at the same time they introduced fractals, acended gear and managed to make acended about more than simply agony. End result is that everyone is level grinding fractals in LA, or feel they need to in order to keep up.

Do wonder if giving event chain bosses a chance to drop acended would give reason for 80s to go back to other zones. Or if they would simply chain camp Orr again…

Or perhaps they should drop the whole acended thinking and instead introduce a way to put the whole infusion thingy on existing armor (or introduce a whole new infusion slot on the armor page).

I totally agree with merging PvE zones onto one primary server per zone. The maps are largely empty and I spend a lot of time soloing or running around looking for a small team.

I disagree with his WvW suggestion. I like WvW just like it is, and don’t want a more difficult learning curve.

WvWvW: needs defence structures that do more damage, better placemnt and gives the defenders an advantage that the attackers must overcome.

give the attackers alternate ways to attack. running a keep out of supplies should make its defensive emplacements weaker. secret ways in, alow attackers to take secret ways in, but allow attackers to set up traps that can kill 1 player instantly, but alow some to be disabled and/ or avoided. (more should always be added to WvWvW)

PvP: game modes is pretty much spot on. i dont see much esle to say.

PvE: this one is tough. i cant come up with much And i am a PvE player. one solution may be more 1 time events…. but that means people will only crowd those events……
