I don’t really have much to add to this except that I couldn’t have said it better. Well done.

I think there is a sub-forum just for these kinds of things.

Good luck.

In other words, please read my wordpress.com blog post (the equivalent of the 90’s Geocities) because I think it is important.

Yeah… at the least OP could have bullet pointed the main ideas…. on the bright side I know copy-paste so…

I’ve been thinking this post over for years, and yet it’s still hard to put into words. Arenanet is consistent in its inconsistency. That is to say that they repeatedly and frustratingly introduce things and then never touch them again, never adjust them, never support them, never standardize how to acquire an item or worst of all they only briefly make them available and they’re never seen again. They set the groundwork for something, make a show of it, and then don’t follow through. It’s a combination of neglect and lack of foresight.

Yeah I guess I agree. Anet loves implementing scalable systems (fractals is the big one for me), yet never scales.
Not sure about temporarily available items though. I’d love to be able to get some of those 1-time items that are no longer available, but having 1-time items does serve as a reward for veteran players (i.e. only veteran players can have them… assuming the Gods of RNG smiled down on them).

Its a general mmo thing i find. Lots of companies start something then abandon it, rather than address the issues behind the idea. Often metrics overwrite context.

It can be frustrating, but i just go with the flow now. Seen it happen enough in the business world over the years, ive accepted its just a way of life for companies in this day and age.

I am posting to request that you change the title of your post so it’s informative about what you hope us to learn. I also request that you change the body of your post so it captures the “salient points” of the article.

Something like:

(External Article) How GW2’s Inconsistencies Hurt the Community
Here’s an article about a root issue that I think is affecting everyone’s enjoyment of the game. It has to do with [insert tl;dr for either the article or the issue it’s raising etc]

I don’t bother following external links without knowing something about what I’ll find on the other end. (I usually don’t bother responding to forum posts with uninformative titles, either — I made an exception because I couldn’t sleep)

edit: syntax

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”
