This is how I am having fun!
I noticed a similar thing. When I play GW2 to chase gold it isn’t very fun. When I go into the world and just wander around it is quite enjoyable.
And THIS is why I still play.
No grinding, no mindless race to acquire a legendary.
Just good, old fashioned “lets see what I can see and find what I can find” game play.

. For the hell of it I tried Scepter Focus, and everything went from me having to fly all over the place, to me standing there killing everything and not having to worry.
Did you use a special build for this?

Same here man i love it just old fashioned fun. Just relax and game away with friends
This game have so many small stories incredibly fun. Like the “Quaggan wants to be a pirate.” The problem is everyone still have that MMoRPG moto: “Have the best to beat the rest”, rush to get things and forgets to enjoy the content of the game.
Endgame content? The whole game

are you being sarcastic?
@HellMood
I suppose my build is a regular D/D build but without the traits for Air which gives you boons when you gain aura’s nor the trait that gives you protection when granting yourself an aura in earth
@Pings
No! sorry if it sounded that way I was just being precise
Alright bums, this is how I HAVE FUN!!
I don’t rush through the area to get 100% map completion. I fight almost every hostile npc I see, and I take my time killing them; I watch the fight thoroughly, as if it was a movie. The way I move my camera, watching my character fighting a big ogre and doing cool dodges, shield bash, hold up my shield to block is just pure awesome! I enjoy the combat animation, and the exploration!
And since this is an MMO-RPG, I run around bragging to everyone that I am a Gate Guard who has been laid off, while saving their burned-out bums from getting eaten, beaten, or mugged! (Warrior)
I run into WvWvW! Though my server usually wins anyways, it is not about winning to me! I do solo-operations! I conquer camps on my own and run away after seeing 5+ people chasing me! (Ranger)
I go PvP and burst on everyone, killing people almost within instance and trolling them!! Then jumping on their body! Only rarely have I ever got beat and sat on by some dimwit person (Thief)
I make new characters! Try them out! And Delete them if they are boring to me!! (Ele, Necro, Engineer, Mesmer) I take my joy of this game to its highest potential!! I am SIMON, Baby!!

First, i would like to say i’m really glad you are enjoying the game again. I was also one of the people to rush to 80 during head start so i could do whatever i wanted in the game.
Once i have reached lvl 80 my next goal was to do my personal story and complete the whole map and get exotics.
Did it.
What to do after that? Dungeons. Ok.
Did it.
Jumping puzzles and mini dungeons in the game?
Did it.
Mini-games, pvp, wvw?
Don’t like it so much. Tried it.
And after all of this there is only the legendary or some fancy exotic to get, and that requires a lot of farming and grinding. Did the karma part, now i just need hundreds and hundreds of gold. I don’t play the TP, and i don’t have the patience to roam around the 100% maps, doing things i did before with no hearts, skill point challenges, map completion rewards and other things that makes your time in game worth while. After you complete all of them your gold income is severely limited. Why do you need gold? Well for quite number of things since everything is super expensive to buy or craft. Had fun while doing everything for the first time, after a while it just loses it’s charm.
It doesn’t even help on your alt Taomancer?
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
It doesn’t even help on your alt Taomancer?
Nope! /10character
After leveling 3 characters to 80, I’m -still- discovering new things, and seeing new places. I find myself going back to most of the zones and helping newer players accomplish tasks that I remember having trouble with. This game is brilliant, and that is how I have fun.

I understand the game would get boring for some people. This game ISN’T for everyone. And everyone should acknowledge that. Just because one guy says, “This game is boring!”, another shouldn’t troll on him. Instead, the other guy should say:
I’m sorry that this game is boring for you. I hope you would find the game that would make you really happy and keep you going for years to come. But don’t forget, my guild friend, Guild Wars 2 is always here for you. =) You bought it, you have no monthly fee, so feel free to drop in sometimes when you feel like it.
This game can also “burn” people out. You play too much of it, it feels like a chore rather than game. My suggestion is to take a break and do something else. The main point is… enjoy your life and don’t stay somewhere that bores your mind out. =b

Many people turn things into a grind, a race to the top. It’s like a job, the higher paying ones are usually something mind numbing and repetitive while the one you truly enjoy is average in pay but highly stimulating. People always forget to stop, enjoy and take a look at the beautiful world and people around us.
I’m glad to hear that some people actually get what this game is about. As I said in another thread once: The game is more like going on a hike than being in a race. In a race, all you’re concerned about is winning and getting to the end of it. But, a hike is about taking in everything. You’re less concerned about the destination and more concerned with what happens during the journey.
So, remember, hike…don’t race.
Every game burns people out. I’ve played wow since Vanilla and I recently walked away from a game I’ve devoted thousands of hours (and probably dollars) to because every time I’d log on I’d sit and stare at my main hovering on her mount in Stormwind and I’d ask myself… " Ok now what?"
You will always get tired of the PVE gear grind or dailies or auction house flipping or exploration or professions or pokemon pet battles or finding out your epics are suddenly obsolete with another expac or …..
every game is finite.
But I can say, THIS game has my rapt and absolute attention right now. It’s stunningly beautiful, the world/races/characters are rich with history, and it’s the only mmo I’ve played besides wow that just “feels” solid.
I’m in no rush to reach the end either, it’s the journey that is important. Like the poster above me so elegantly explained, it’s a hike. And the scenery is breathtaking
