The cuts are so deep you’ll swear I took a greatsword to the prices!

Character expansion – 800gems reduced to 600gems (25% discount). Yup, very deep.

about as deep as a supermodels aesthetic values. I once fell into a “deep” puddle too, the soles of my shoes were SOAKED, we all laughed heartily at my misfortune.

Irony…. xD

Although it’s not a Steam sale discount, 25% is quite a bit for a company who, as claimed by many, just after more money.

I like it. I can finally get my last character slot now for much less than I had wanted to pay.

It is a decent cut. That said, the spike of people converting gold to gems has made the cost skyrocket to the point where it’s not worth blowing 20 gold on less than 1300 gems. I wanted two more character slots too. : /

25% is a pretty deep discount. To use Hellkaiser’s joke, if you fell into a puddle that covered 25% of you, it’d be over your knees. That’s pretty deep.

If you don’t spend money on gems, then you should buy gems in advance of sales and then buy the items during the sale.

I would have, but I spent all my money on T3 cultural right before they announced said sale. Goddangit.

But what If I’m a giant! 25% is a variable value based on the whole sum

25% of a stupid number is a slightly less stupid number :P but still a stupid number technically :P

Numbers are stupid… we should just use the alphabet.

Hellkaiser clearly has some unexplored issues with the Western Arabic numeral system. I support Grumbles and his shift toward Roman numerals.

most fun I’ve had in GW2 has been joking at it’s expense, irony :P

But yeah, how about they add something of value to the Cash Shop instead of offering us garbage at a 25% discount? :P make more sense for ya’s?

oh and roman numerals FTW, I hath been converted-eth.

In my own opinion a deep discount is 66% off or more. A great discount is 50%. A good discount is around 35%. 25% is average or low discount in the gaming world. To be fair GW2 is a new MMO and i would not expect higher then 50% off yet.

What would you consider to be “of value”?

what they TOLD us it was all going to be about, unique skins and aesthetic improvements etc.

Ya know, add a bit of fun variety to the game without :

A: “what did you spend that 60 bucks worth of gems on larry?”

B: “on gold of course, there’s nothing else to be arsed with jimmy, and now I can buy those stupidly hard to grind mats for my legendary and have enough left over to power trade and scalp more free gemz from other players on the market with my buddies”

Instead we still have random chance boxes, the cancer that is killing cash shops in games.

Irony…. xD

They sell unique skins and aesthetic improvements in the Gem Shop. Did you check in the ‘Style’ section? If they don’t have anything you like, that’s a different complaint than saying they have nothing at all.

I’m sure they do research and find that reducing the price by a certain amount (25% in this case) will increase sales by a much larger margin, making them significantly more money over a smaller period of time. That is the bottom line. Sure prices aren’t as low as you would expect, but that isn’t what matters to them.

LOL this game has an extremely bare cash shop for an entity that has been accused of gouging every nickel and dime it can.

Seriously, people obsess to the point of mental collapse about legendaries and they are the same stats as the exotics. Anet could sell the skins and do away with the purples but they don’t.

Then there are the minis. Kinda neat, and I felt compelled to make my two for wintersday, but they only take up room because i can’t sell them. Yet some people “gotta catch em all!”.

There are some neat things that are outside the game offering in just the slightest fashion; black lion salvage is just slightly better than anything available in game, likewise the trans stones. Those however barely make up for the fact that Anet has not even tried to milk skins, providing only a single skin upgrade for each armor weight.

keys to the chests? Well yeah that is a mini game like a jumping puzzle. Sometimes you have to just walk away and laugh. Thse who succeed you can give a golf clap and tilt your hat, and go about the more important business of seeing how many risen you can take on at once.

Really, for an entity that gets slapped with a stigma of evil for trying to make money, their cash shop is really really bare. Vault expansions, bag additons and character slots probably top the list in what they actually sell.

I have never before loved a game so much. When I die i want to buried in the harathi hinterlands that is how much I love this game.

Is it really a discount? It maybe 25% discount on the items itself but in the past few days, buying gems with gold is 40% more expensive. Those who buy items with gold are better off using the normal price

Lol you guys going to fall for that one as well?

Just check the gold to gem exchange rate (http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem) and compare it to before this sale came on. They employ a similar sale gimmick like at your local supermarket.

Just to give you an example:

Gold to gem before 3 day sale: ~1.65
Gold to gem during sale: ~2.1

BL Salvage kit before 3 day sale: 300 gem
BL Salvage kit during 3 day sale: 210 gem (30% discount)

Now go DO DA MAF!

The only true 30% saving would be if the exchange rate were the same – which is not because it is manipulated. Just because more people might be exchaning gold for gems does not necceseraly mean the exchange rate should go up – it only goes up because the company “adjusts” it to make more profit.
