This kitten Filter

The first major rant against this game/Anet is going to be an amazing read thanks to this filter. It’s already produced such gems as horsekitten.
I kitten love kittens
This filter is literally the best thing ever introduced to a forum ever.
Go kittens!

EDIT: Amazing!
So you’re kitten saying, that every time that i say kitten, that the forum is automatically going to kitten filter me?For kitten sake. I mean, how will I say kitten?
I did this earlier for funsies, but I felt a little bad because if you click “edit,” your original text is still there.
I adore how irate it makes the potty-mouths. Now if only it could be added in-game.
(hint, hint)
I actually just typed out kitten in the place of whatever word might go there.
You can use it as an ad-lib if you want. Fill in each “kitten” with a word from your imagination.
There’s no actual cursing in the post. Just “kitten” placed where one would be. =p

That filter is a pretty funny and good idea! Nice job ANET! xD
I wanted to call attention to it while still being funny. I think it was a really great idea.
Go to the lore forums and read the “Problems with Charr Lore” thread. It made me giggle in a few places because of the filter.

I would love to be in a guild that could be hostile with other guilds. Perhaps you could only be hostile with guilds with a similar number of players to yours. Servers could have giant guilds which break out into giant guild wars in a major city.
I think that this would bring in an element of player drama. I love MMO drama. Back in WoW players used to be kicked and promoted through guilds purely through personal connections. Some guilds would split off of a guild and take most of the people with it creating new powerful guild masters. It was a total Game of Thrones situation and it made for interesting social constructs.
Thanks for reading
Guild Wars name has nothing to do with the lore whatsoever?
Yeah, you better go check the lore then. Perhaps you should start with the wiki.
Thanks for playing.
That isn’t what he said at all, but I can understand reading comprehension might be hard for you. The people who always complain about the lack of GVG in a game called Guild Wars know nothing about the lore because the GUILD WARS happened long before the first game even happened. It had nothing to do with the players at all.
So what you miss is the soap opera drama that occurred in WoW? Lemme know if we are ever in the same guild so I can gtfo.
I’d love to have GvG brought back. It’s what made the first game popular for as long as it was, in my opinion anyway. I knew so many people that had pretty much beaten that game 100% but they would still get on to do some good ol’ GvG.
Still though regardless of Lore…I feel there should be GvG in this game just like GW1 had.
That way people can develop Guild Pride and compete in tournaments and so on.
GW1 was excellent on PVP but sadly in GW2 PVP seems to have taken a backseat for PVE… dont get me wrong PVP is fun in this game but they need more PVP modes besides point capture and Zerg V Zer…oh I mean World V World

I really enjoy pvp, but I don’t think it would hurt to have a purely pvp-team deathmatch style game that had no other objectives/distractions. I enjoy optimizing a build for capping, but it usually just involves stacking run skills and avoiding combat completely. I would support a pvp-mode where the only objective is to wipe out the enemy team.
I really like the W v W v W concept , But it is just way to imbalanced Due to server populations and the whole Ranged v melee issues … imo
Eternal Battlegrounds , could have been awsome for a GvGvG same kinda thing as HOH from guild wars 1 , But with capped numbers of 20 v 20 v 20 on a smaller scale of course , with guild ladder and in game rankings . I Am pretty sure youll implement something like this in the future tho , just reminding you a lot Of pvp players really liked this kinda thing hehe
3 way guild mayhem + guild lords and rewards . epic !
Angelus, try not running with the zerg in WvW, you’ll have a lot more fun. WvW is a step up from GvG (Which was impossible to get into unless you played GW2 for a while ago) simply because everyone took it so serious and it was drama and elitist. Take a keep, fly your guild’s banner. Show guild/realm pride period.

this
guild wars = a game about guild vs guild
star wars = a game about star vs star
:p
Dont worry, They will be adding a ton of content soon enough, Its easier to add later than Implement in the beginning.
while I miss the feature myself, I certainly don´t miss public whining, bragging and flame wars, considering the game world is a lot less divided than it was with the districts and hence you probably get to see even more of it, I lean towards it being a good thing not to have them.
Now now, hold the pitchforks. Let me start off by saying Guild Wars 2 is one of my most favourite games of all time, if not my most favourite. I think they have absolutely nailed most of the game and I will no doubt be playing it for years to come.
With that said, I really feel like the state of the game is completely unacceptable at the moment with so many bugs.
I run a guild and currently as leader I have no power whatsoever other than to invite new members.. I have also wasted my digital deluxe tome of influence bonus along with my 400 influence personal story bonus as when I used them they did not work due to a bug.. in short, my guild is totally and utterly broken and members are leaving because of it.
There has been no response to my support ticket nor has there been any reply to my problem on the guild bugs thread in the bug forum.. There is no fix in sight, it seems like my guild has simply been forgotten.
While this is my main issue with the game at the moment, I have encountered countless other bugs with the game all over the place, whether it be that multiple zones have bugged skill points/hearts that make me getting 100% map completion impossible, whether dungeon paths bug out after me and my group have spent an hour in there blocking progress and forcing us to abandon our party or restart..
Even the moment that is supposed to be the culmination of the entire game – the Zhaitan(spelling?) fight bugged out for us and all he did was sit on a tower for 5 minutes while we shot cannons at him, he offered no resistance whatsoever.. it was such a huge let down
Oh and after we did that? I got my personal story completion bonus – 5 exotic loot boxes that were supposed to give me a random item.. they give me level 20-30 blues, I then google this to find out they are bugged at the moment and are supposed to give level 80 exotics.. I really don’t expect I will be reimbursed which is also incredibly disappointing.
The post is getting very long now and I apologize for that but I really wanted to just come out and say that I don’t think Guild Wars 2 has the sort of polish that a game on release should have. Orr feels completely unfinished and a tacked on afterthought, it’s so incredibly disappointing..
However I don’t feel the problems with the game are so bad that they can’t be rectified, so I urge you arenanet, do all you can to fix them and make this the game it was born to be.
Thanks
You need to make sure that all bugs are being reported along with full descriptions and the acts that lead up to the bug ( especially in combat situations).
Your highlighted example could have been something as simple as one of your party pulled aggro while standing in a certain area of the map, this caused a bug to appear.
As you mentioned, all bugs can be fixed, but if people arent giving the developers full details/explanations, it is extremely hard for them to do their jobs. Simply because they are having to rely on guesswork, whereas with a solid detailing of the issue, then can easily go to the specific area of code that is causing the trouble and check it out.
They’re working on it, I’ve actually heard that there’s supposed to be a major patch tomorrow, but here’s some food for thought: Consider the fact that major bugs remained months after the initial release and each expansion launch of WoW. Hell, look at any MMO launch. Guild Wars 2’s launch has been relatively smooth by comparison.
Just keep reporting the bugs. Seriously, report each and every bug you see in as much detail you can provide. They’ll get ’em fixed eventually.

the game is 2 weeks out and for its tremendous size it has very few bugs. Expecting an online game without bugs on release is naive, it is just not possible, even with extensive beta testing .
Bugs will get fixed, atm their priority is to address those people who can’t play or have major connection issues.
Their priority should be both. Not to solely concentrate on one single aspect. A dev team that isn’t split up into specific areas of the game, so that all aspects are being worked on simultaneously is a very very unorganised team and is doomed to failure.
Every time I run across a bug in the game, I report it. Why? Because that’s how things get fixed. We know there are lots of bugs in the game. We also know Anet is working on fixing them.
“I don’t think Guild Wars 2 has the sort of polish that a game on release should have.”
Did you play SWtOR or Diablo III during they’re releases? The forums of these two games upon release were just overwhelmed with hate for obvious reasons.
Nothing gets me immersed more than defeating a foe with the quick blades of my thief then jumping off the cliff into the water only to have the camera be submerged with my character displaying a gorgeous panoramic view of the instant change of scenery.
Oh yeah, the only thing that would make this better is a dive animation. GIVE US ONE!
thxkbai
TwistedWarrior, just because those games had horrible quality control does not excuse every game in the future from having bugs.
I have to agree that the amount of bugs is a bit ridiculous. I love the game, but it does feel like we’re playing beta sometimes, especially when it comes to high leveled content.
There is a dive animation?
Yeah, agreed. I love GW2 but it’s so bugged you have to consider it beta. The fact alone that for the first couple of days group play was practically impossible (not getting in the same overflow) and for the first 1-2 weeks dungeon play was practically impossible (not getting into the same instance) makes this release a beta-release.
I encountered numerous bugs including a lot of broken events, hearts, missing synchro in cut scenes etc. etc.
Although the game is big as it is, it seems pretty obvious to me that numerous areas got cancelled because of time reasons (desert, sea of sorrows, …). This is not a bug, but still kind of disturbing, especially when thinking of the desert that played a huge role in GW1.
I have to say I was rather impressed of the speed in which arenanet fixed most of the important issues. This doesn’t change the fact that the game still feels beta, but it gives good hope that the issues will be resolved soon :-)
This should really be in the suggestions sub-forum.
But I’ll add my two cents: YES. Please, yes.

Yes. This needs to happen. Diving off vistas hundreds of feet off the water can only be made better by adding a swan dive animation.

I agree. I’d still like to know who decided the recent trend, about generally not finishing games before releasing them. In every other industry that would be completely unacceptable.
i know it may seem a little off-topic but i am not really keen on posting new threads.
are those boxes given after finishing the storyline really bugged? yeah, i must say i was a bit confused after getting some blueish items, but at first i thought that it was intentionally done that way.
speaking of game’s current state – no doubt there are lots of various bugs. e.g. i’ve been recently struggling with those broken sp’s making completion impossible. it gets really annoying and i am fatihfully wating for this upcoming major patch that was mentioned earlier.

I think you people are crazy, personally. This has been an extremely smooth launch with minimal bugs. MMO’s are going to have bugs. That doesn’t mean they aren’t getting fixed, and more than most likely the bugs you’re talking about are getting fixed right now!
I wouldn’t say “minimal”. One romp around Iron Marches or Timberline Falls will change your mind on that. Dogs that sniff a tree for hours and never find anything, a krewe leader under a contested waypoint needing protection from an army of undead that never attack, a couple of veterans that do nothing after clearing a hideout of Separatists… Man, I’ve had some crazy adventures.
Give it time, though. Hell, maybe just one more day is all we need.

You would not call me crazy if you had experienced the amount of bugs I have.
Random bugs I don’t really care about, but the ones that really bother me are ones that either corrupt an otherwise amazing experience that I’m really only going to want to experience once (Zhaitan fight)
Or, bugs that completely wreck certain rewards/parts of the game for me that can never be fixed because I have already experienced them (Wasting my digital deluxe edition tome, end of game personal story rewards giving me level 20 blues instead of level 80 exotics)..
I won’t ever get the guild members back that have left due to my guild being broken, they have moved on and I don’t blame them..
These bugs have permanently ruined parts of my gameplay experience and even if they are fixed now, the damage is done.. those are the bugs that really irk me.

Yeah I agree on the bugs. Iron Marches is a trip — I don’t recall ever seeing a release MMO zone as bugged as that is.
Seriously this is freaking me out.. what is wrong with you people?
Are therr a bunch of people running around posting macroed comments in every forum they logg into? Feels like a beta? Bs seriously Bs. Thre are bugs in this games, sure but VERY few for such a large piece of software. Besides NO SOFTWARE IS WITHOUT BUGS! Reapeat after me NEVER EVER. It´s simply not possible with the Thousands and thousands of code in modern software. And if any of you armchair developers had ever coded anything in your life you´d know. Feels like a beta… my Kittens.
Please calm down.
The game has an enormous amount of bugs in it and it could have had another 6+ months in development and probably still been filled with bugs there is that many.. if you say otherwise, you simply haven’t experienced enough content to form a valid opinion.
There is already a dive animation
There is already a dive animation
How do I do it?
@Athaulf
Sorry, but it does feel like beta in Orr.
To begin with, half of the temple events are glitched. Those are supposed to be the largest and most important chain events in Orr. Half of them can’t be done, keeping people from accessing specific temple karma vendors.. There isn’t a single map there without bugged skill points. We have a lot of people with 90% map completion there stuck on those. Then today gates of Arah is not working in many of the servers, keeping people from playing the last dungeon. That not even counting all of the other frozen events and issues. Yes, it feels like beta there.
I think the game has not had enough beta testing. And I think the pre-purchasers who beta-tested are not to blame for not reporting enough bugs etc., but rather the fact that the “beta weekend” strategy just doesn’t allow for serious testing beyond around level 40.
And that’s basically what the game looks like – polished up to about level 40.
Unfortunately games are the most complex software you can create – this stuff happens all the time. I have faith though that Anet is racing to fix everything. They should be able to give you whatever items you missed out on OP, just make sure you write them a note to let them know about it. Also make sure you report all bugs you encounter, the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
