i know i know this might be the worst idea ever, but what if instead of changing core features like the gem convertor to bring new players to the game, Anet could Release a kitten Expansion, to bring players that dont log in since 2013 to the game!?

I know this is probably a bad idea but hey, trying never hurt.

You know how ArenaNet will bring me back into the game? By ditching the megaserver or making it optional, remove all the level gated nonsense and return the leveling system back to it’s original state, and by fully unlocking the traits, like it was when i started playing, and fully supported the game. It’s just, that, simple.

The reasons we love the new downgra…..er….feature patch :

Personally i’m not playing right now, am waiting for the Part 2 of the living history.

But, the sad part is that i probably gonna play the LS and leave again. I like PvP a lot, but im just bored of the same maps and the same game mode

All hostilities aside, I do still play the game, but I haven’t paid anything since I purchased on release day. I have never bought gems, only converted gold for them.

However, I would likely very quickly pay $50-$60 for a full expansion. Is that profitable? Or is it more reasonable to support the game through micro-transactions fueled by convenience tools (e.g. bag slots, infinite gathering tools) and aesthetics (outfits, weapon skins)?

I almost feel bad getting a continually-updated mmo that’s pretty good quality compared to other mmo’s (though some aspects certainly need improvement), which I’ve been playing for 2+ years now for only a one-time payment of $60.

I do agree with OP though. I don’t finding Living Story to be very exciting and eventually, without significant new content, I will also leave. I have tried several games over the past year to replace GW2 since it does seem to be getting stale. In the end, none of the games I’ve tried have been good enough, but eventually something will be. But I would definitely pay money right now for a big lump of new content.

Living story aside, look at WoW and FFXIV expansion or Even Rift, most my friends dont play any of those games anymore, but after i told them about new expansion they already pre order WoW expansion (i wont), i also was a player of FF, i dont play the game since 2.1, i think is on 2.4 now, and i am 99.9% sure i will buy the expansion.

Expansion = New Race/Class, New maps and alot of new features, is the perfect way to get lost players back to the game.

I know that Living story and Feature packs also give a fell of expansion for some players and thats what anet want, but cmon a single year of Living story is not the same as an expansion not even close.

So ye im 100% sure that an expansion would bring alot of players back

Same here, I’ve played 1.7k hours and used to buy $10 of gems per month before this train wreck of a dev team showed its incompetency. This has to be intentionally bad, there’s no other way that they would just release the same halloween content (and dialogue) and it’s more broken than it was last year, and on top of that they haven’t fixed the main attraction (phase 2 of Prince Thorn story) in 2 days. The fix can’t be that hard that it would take a team or even one person (or a monkey) 2 days.

Maybe they’re killing the game intentionally to get people to switch to subscription-based Wildstar?

Too much effort for not enough profit in the eyes of Anet. You also dont seriously believe that this game will survive until an expansion kicks in?
