This new dungeon has ruined my experience
Hmm?
I am on Underworld as well and I find it quite easy to find people for the other dungeons.
Go to the actual area where the dungeon is and look. Standing around in LA LFG is quite pointless

I don’t know if anything’s changed since the patch, but that rarely worked pre-patch and usually only in places like AC. Most recruiting took place in LA.
Thank you for your reply
I of course go to the location where I wish to dungeon, without a lfg tool it is the only way to do it. There is no one there at all these days. LA is the only location where people actually are now if they are looking for anything. Hence why we end up in overlflow so often – I’m sure you must have seen that.
Sadly my experience still stands.
I have a family and work, so my hours of of course restricted. I have gone from 2-3 dungeon runs a night to just 1 this week.

Stop lying. ;/ This is actually a serious matter that needs some tweaking, hopefully real soon.
I’m glad there are others being honest about it.
The game has taken an enormous downturn and it all seems the opposite to what Guild Wars was and is supposed to be.
It is NOT fun right now. I for one won’t stomach it for very long.
Maybe not fun for you, but are you part of a large guild? Do you have friends in game? Do you socialize in game? Having friends is a great way to run any dungeon you want when you feel like it. I haven’t experienced any type of issues running any dungeon.
Yup, i’m on blacktide (only full server in EU atm) and it really feels dead outside LA.
I see maybe one or two dungeon lfg outside LA per day, usually cof / se exp mode,
wanna go story mode? Though luck, no one is doing those.
So either get very lucky and end up in active and helpful guild or just live without dungeons.
We really need lfg tool, cross-server one.
If someone whines that it reduces interaction between players to have automated system, then seriously think about it, what interaction does lfg spam for hours give?

@OP:
Yes it has been crazy with the new dungeon, and for the first few days after it came out there where almost no groups running anything else, but recently I have already seen more group requests for other dungeons. So just give it time, eventually things will go back to normal.

It sounds like you do not run dungeons very often. In general there are very few people looking for groups on the map where the actual dungeon is, with perhaps the exception of some of the more popular dungeons, and even then it is usually the minimal since most people prefer to recruit from LA.
Trouble is even the “if you cant beat them…” approach doesn’t work.
I joined a guy advertising for level 6 of fracts and we tried to no avail to recruit over the other bunch of people asking for massively varying level reqs, with similar results for us all – nothing.
Something needs to change and fast, this current method is not only flawed, it is plain broken. On a saturday it normally takes me 30 seconds to get a group, now i cant get one even for fractals, let alone any of the others.

To be more accurate, most people perfer to recruit from their frields list and guild. Yes, there are people spamming for recruits in Lion’s Arch; It may even be the fastest way to get a group if you don’t have the friends list or guild options. But is the group formed there really worth joining?
I run dungeons regularly and have never joined a PUG that was spamming for people (in Lion’s Arch, or otherwise). My guildie groups have occasionally picked up a 5th person, from where the actual dungeon is, when we couldn’t find a 5th we knew. We have never taken in more than one “unknown PUG’er” at a time and have never recruited from Lion’s Arch. Why? Because PUGs can work out fine, but they can also turn into a mess. It’s just not worth the risk, expecially with the vote-to-kick mechanic as it now stands.

Take a look at this guys post history, and you will understand his post.

Not trying to be contentious, but I had to respond. That may be your approach but has not been mine. I joined a guild late so most of my dungeon runs have been with PUGS. Finished all of them except 1 and that was because the last fight bugged in CM.
In fact, I usually hate doing dungeons in MMOS because of horrible PUG encounters in other games. I was shocked by how much fun I had in GW2 dungeons and with PUGs. But yes, I have had even more fun with guildies. They crack me up on Ventrilo.
TLDR: To my surprise, pre-Lost Shore patch dungeon runs with pugs have been fun and successful. Yet another thing, in my opinion, Arenanet got right.
I’m on Tarnished Coast, and I’m in a relatively medium-sized but very active guild. I usually don’t have any issues finding people to help with dungeons, both explore and story. Yesterday, I did AC story, CM story, and AC path 1. It took about… 10 minutes to find a full group. Joining a guild really helps!

I do hope so, that would boost up my will to play back to the original levels, or at least nearly.
Also anet promised some tweaking for old zones/dungeons so we’ll see what comes of that.
But still i think global chat (optional, for those who don’t like the idea), and/or the lfg tool would help alot.

I’m glad you did respond. Maybe I’ve not given the GW2 community enough credit, and I’ll make it a point to join a PUG or two to give them a try.
Yeah, well I am just hanging around until something new comes out. Do to it has only been a week and people are in Fractal Level 20+. A week and 20+? Thanks to the content locust. GW2 is going in the wrong direction for my taste. Each day that goes by, since I can not spend time in game 24/7 like so many others, well because of real life being a boundry. I fall further and further behind.
Thanks for responding guys, I hope Anet pay attention to this and all the other threads about this off form move.
I’ve stopped playing for now, no rage quit, but I have a strict policy on “i have to enjoy it”. I will check back next update with hope in my heart
This new dungeon is the best thing i’ve experienced on any mmorpg.
why do ppl always respond with find a bigger guild? the game has been out 3 months already and most if not all found thier comfortable pocket of friends albiet it a small guild or just a group of friends nothing before lost shore required u to be in a large guild… but now if i want to do somethin i must be in a large guild (aimed at fractals due to thier poor lvl system) im not being anti social its just ive already found my comfort zone and packing up and finding a new guild only usually works best at the birth of a game or yur first play.
The game is certainly shaping up to be something completely different than what was advertised.
Not in a good way either.
Imo nah. I still find groups for other dungeons and fotm was fun. I can see fotm getting boring but have only done lowest difficulty so maybe as they get harder it maintains the fun. How many times would I really want to kill some krait, swim as a lame dolphin, and beat on a giant jellyfish with a huge health pool? How many times do I want to free the giant.
But I am guessing that Anet will add more variety so it will not get boring. That is the beauty of the fracs they are just small stand alone ideas so an entire dungeon does not have to be made. Someone at Anet can have a small cool idea and it can be added.
Well i really like fractals but like u said is hard to find groups for other dungeons (trying to get arah skins…) i just hope the remake of the old dungeons is good enough so its worth doing them (fun and rewarding)
Also… a better LFG tool would be nice at least a panel to post LFG/LFM (crosserver maybe) please?
we need LFG dungeon finder .. finding ppl is not easy i dont like to spend 1 hour or 2 finding ppl for the dungeons

Absolutely not, we just need the “gating” system for FOTM removed or reworked, and the rewards from FOTM made no longer “superior” to others by either passing them out to all other aspects of the game or nerfing them to exotic level.
This game started out engineered specifically to unify the playerbase, reward people for playing how they wanted to play, and reward people for helping their fellow players.
Then FOTM came along.
Now we have a game with an “endgame dungeon” that specifically splinters the playerbase, forces people to play a specific dungeon to attain competitive rewards, and rewards people for excluding their fellow players.
Hi,
With this new dungeon, for me on Underworld server, I have gone from a choice of 8 dungeons of multiple paths to the one dungeon that, sure has some random in it, but it has got to the stage where noone wants to go anywhere else.
This is exactly what I said would happen with the new dungeon without any updates to existing dungeons. Its just ridiculous.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Man… my posts are disappearing everywhere..
I agree with the OP. I’m very worried about what FotM is doing to the game. The fracturing of the playerbase is getting worse with every passing day. Watching the FotM LFG spam, you can have a string of 10+ LFG requests for FotM and have none of them overlap with each other. Soon there will be people looking for 20+ different difficulty ratings. There has to be a wall some where. I assumed with Ascended Gear only being available in Rings and Back Armor that eventually everyone would be gated at some point. I never imagined people would already be looking for 20+ LD and that that would include players who haven’t even maxed the new Ascended/Infusion progression.
To be honest, I’m a little bit in shock that this system ever got approved for the game. It seems to run so completely contrary to the game’s previously stated design philosophy that I can’t even comprehend how it was made ready for inclusion before we even reached the three month anniversary since release.
FotM would be a perfect addition for an MMO in it’s twilight. For a game that’s only three months old it seems like a self destruct sequence.
Most of Arenanet seems to have had a well deserved five day weekend. I hope that refreshed and renewed, some of the higher ups will address FotM, in great depth and some how put our fears to rest, because I’m honestly dumbfounded and more than a little concerned.
A week later and I have to be honest and say I tried for 5 days to get a group, managed to get just one group, which after people disconnecting a few times was given up due to having to restart 4 times.
I’m sure if I hung around all day long I would of got lots of runs, but I can’t / won’t.
Anyways after those 5 days I hung up my bow and have moved on to other stuff these past two days.
I will check in if / when Cantha / Elona appear…
Anet – turn things around before it is too late… please
ArenaNet has stated in the recent AMA that they’re aware of this issue and intend to fix it soon.
You get sucked by PuG then people will tell you to get a guild.
If you are in a guild, it divides your guild into 3 or 4 groups with different progression, absolutely impossible for a new level 80, and still very hard to get a decent group, then people starts to tell you to go PuG. Funny enough?
Looks like it behaves more like a conspiracy to destroy the community, instead of a game I knew as its Dynamic Events appealing to help each other, share with each other regardless of levels or capabilities.
i agree. the new dungeon is a grind especially since it normally can’t be completed by 4 people and if someone leaves or gets disconnected you wind up running it several times before its completed.
That kind of proves the OP’s point though.
Look at the MASS difference between Exp and Fractals. It’s telling.
Maybe not fun for you, but are you part of a large guild? Do you have friends in game? Do you socialize in game? Having friends is a great way to run any dungeon you want when you feel like it. I haven’t experienced any type of issues running any dungeon.
I am so sick of this response. MMOs are changing more and more thank God! I don’t want to socialize! I want to log in do the things I find fun and log out. I do not want to be obligated to take time away from RL for anything.
Guild Wars 2 was setting up to be that perfect MMO I had always been looking for. The lack of a dungeon finder from the start confused me though since everything else is automated.
