This site and forum need some updates
The forum cannot be fixed since they do not have a relationship with the contractor anymore and no devs free to make a new one.
Im sure we would all welcome an improved forum experience
Cant comment and n whether this affects the main site though in the same way
Getting an update to this forum is not a priority for them and they’ve already said they’re not going to spend the money on it anytime soon.
Answering a question on about updating the forum to be capable of hosting an AMA..
(Snip)
To answer the question of whether we’ll someday have software to host something like an AMA, let’s just say I very much hope and believe so but like SAB, that’s “someday” not not “[this day].”
ANet may give it to you.
Look at the war forums, the last time a dev reacted there was 7 months ago before HoT lol! This game is dying!

Since the Dev’s can’t be bothered with it they really need to just move the whole ball of wax over to Reddit where they actually post and keep up with the threads.
BuWahaha – Much like the game, Anet has no idea how to fix the forums. They do know how to delete forums within the structure (Black Lions Trading Post) and to combine threads so that communication becomes ignorable or unseen.
Guild Wars 1 didn’t have an official forum and several cropped up. They were informative and at time a bit of a zoo. But they also had sales forums (ingame currency) and that would be problematic in our Gem-centric game.
Fixes? Not until you hear cheers of profitable quarters and rightly so. Make a game that ppl want to play and are happy to spend dollars first.
This subject is something lots of folks have suggested in numerous threads.

This place is more for sales polling than anything else unfortunately.
Regarding the forums, it’s interesting to note that they’re actually running on Ruby on Rails, which is interesting since ArenaNet are primarily a Windows-oriented development team (i.e. the main site if memory serves runs off ASP.net).
Basically the forums were written by an outside developer, and in the nicest way possible (really, I mean it) they probably don’t have many developers on staff with experience working with Ruby on Rails, and probably aren’t interested in investing in people who do since it’s not a priority for them.
