This video sums up the game for me
I support this. 100% GJ!
BP → DR → FA → Mag → BP → FA
This game is indeed meant for 10-year-olds.
+1 , if I would’ve started GW2 yesterday / today, I’d honestly regret the money I spend on the game and say kitten it, definitly not gonna play this any further.
Warrior
Elonas Reach [EU]
And I’ve pretty much lost faith in this game all together. Neglecting WvW was one thing, but shooting your own game in the foot is just so idiotic that I’m at loss for words.
This video. I hope someone from anet actually watches it through.
Pretty please, undo this (along with the leveling/trait changes of the april pack).
Yep…I only watched a little, but I agreed with the gist of it.
This game is indeed meant for 10-year-olds.
Even a 10 year old would’ve found the game in it’s original state very easy to understand. The brand new and downgraded Guild Wars 2 is re-designed for a much dumber audience.
Now it’s meant for people who seek the “Any” key on their keyboard on a “Press Any Key to continue” message.

+1 for this video. Dwindling community and anet decides this is the answer: the game is too hard.
I’ve already put it in my forum signature (and you all should consider doing it too) so that new players that come to the forum are not overwhelmed by a topic dedicated to the video. GG.

Is this real life?
i am very confused right now. is this supposed to be a joke or is it true?!
ele @ Gf Left Me Coz Of Ladderboard [vain] (EU) / Salty Strategy [PAIN]
ouch. to be fair, the main issues (wrong zone) are just bugs.
I don’t like the changes either, but the fact is, it’s entirely possible this is what new players need. As dumb as it sounds to us, If they did usability & the data indicated these changes, then there is little we can do. There are plenty of games that have idiot tutorials because most players couldn’t figure out something simple.
+1 its like they are trying to kill this game. What is wrong with you anet? How did someone who worked on this not say “Hey guys I think this is just stupid. Lets actually see what people are suggesting and get some ideas from there.”

^ this 100%
I don´t want to be rude but, did they even test this stuff? It seems ABSOLUTELY obnoxious to me… I just can´t wrap my head around how they could have thought new players would actually enjoy this bullkitten more than the old system =/
I´m so glad I´ve already brought all my characters to 80 a long time ago.

Or it could be indicative of the pool of people they sampled
Let us all remember the fatal flaw of data and stats. Data can and will be miss-interpreted. Stats are only relevant to the pool they are derived from and cannot be used to measure the whole.

all the 80s in the world are not going to stop me from going to archeage in 2 days…
We’re the beta testers since April, my friend. However, the game went from beta, to early alpha with the latest downgrade.

Oh come on. I do have my characters up to 80 as well, but all this don’t even make me log in to the game. It like we’re playing a private server or something?!
+1 the truth hurts
The Dhuumfire thread
I didnt understand the video..all those words hurt my tiny little brain !!
Instructions unclear, GW2 got stuck in trash can.
Oh well.
This video had a few hundred views and less than a hundred likes/dislikes just this morning.
It seems the vast majority of people are dissatisfied to say the least.
all the 80s in the world are not going to stop me from going to archeage in 2 days…
I agree. I don’t care how many 80’s are on my account. The fact that they completely broke the leveling experience for my new necromancer ruins the game for me. I’ll be trying out ArcheAge.
wow i am sooooooooo kitten ing glad that i have 116 tomes of knowledge…. I cant even imaging leveling a new toon like this anymore.
I honestly want to know what they were thinking when they made these changed

A 10 year old, yes, but certainly not a 6 year old, as one particular poster has revealed on the forums.
great video – lousy update
This video is brilliant. I hope the devs watch it too.
Okay, I never realized what they did exactly for new characters (I have mine max level already) and watching this I sat there with my jaw dropped.
I hope the developers are listening. This change is terrible for new and veteran players alike. New players will want to move on, seeing how boring the first ~20 levels will be. I can’t speak for everyone but this game wasn’t difficult to follow. Now it feels like ’baby’s first MMO’. Wow.
Who thought this was a good idea?
Covenant of the First Flame [Soul]
I used to feel bad that I play SWTOR after almost 4000 hours of GW2…not anymore…
This game is indeed meant for 10-year-olds.
No.. just no, I hosted many over night video game parties (at least 70 different ones) on slow nights 30ish kids, had as high as 80 kids.
6-12years was the normally, with a few 12+
ALL of them PLAYED MUCH BETTER THAN ME, and all the video games where my own (NES, SNES, Sega, Game Cube, PS1, PS2, Xbox).
So no anet isnt making this for 10yr olds, making this for r*t**ds
(edited by Faux.1937)
This video actually sums up what I was thinking too. These changes are actually INSULTING to any player.
Yep, good ol’ Magical Mike

That’s a meaningless observation as it’s the only way to test anything in a game. This whole forum is a worse offender of sample pool data. The point is, weather i like it or not, this may get more people into the game. & Our dislike of it is not as accurate as testing.

Also the dislike of it has a lot more to do with some kind of bizarre mass-hysteria than any actual consideration of the feature changes.
Seriously? it leads you to an area that you can’t survive in? O_O
I’ll try it myself later haha this is hilarious.
They are basically insulting new players by calling them morons lol
edit: very nice vid, funny and very true.
“PEASANTS ! I AM INVINCIBLE”. The video made me laugh so hard. Defeating Barradin through the means of interpretative dancing sounds fun though.

The sad part is, these features exist on all characters regardless of whether or not you have an 80 character or more.
Guild: Moonlit Renegades (Moon)
Highest-Level Toon: Markus Emmerich, 80 Human Scrapper

but this game is rated PEGI and USK 12, so 6 or 10 year olds should not even be playing it yet
Next step – Auto Attack and /afk. Don’t want to overwhelm the new players with actually having to attend their keyboards while playing.
Even a 10 year old would’ve found the game in it’s original state very easy to understand.
I know it’s against the terms of service (which I think prohibit you from even showing the screen to anyone under 13 while you play), but I know someone who has played Guild Wars 2 with his 5 year-old daughter, and he joked about how she’d finish the personal stories while sucking her thumb. Not buying that it’s too hard to learn. What does gating add to the game other than frustration?
ADDED: And after watching that video, I’m not sure I would have continued to play Guild Wars 2 if I had to jump through all of those hoops to do things with my character. It was annoying enough waiting to get the elite skill slot. Whoever decided that players want to have basic character functionality (like the ability to fight underwater or use all of their downed skills when they are downed) denied to them and that would make the game better is on some really powerful mind-altering substances.
(More than any other reason, the reason why I gave up trying to like the Archeage beta, even though the sandbox elements appealed to me, was that they gated gathering and other things you could do in the game with point. Labor points. Really? People like that and think it’s good game design?)

I sincerely hope that Anet watches this video.
I just can’t fathom how an entire development team put this idea down and not one of them said, “Hey guys? Does anybody think we might be gating the game just a little too much here?”
LOL! great video. This shows exactly what mess the lvling system is. Stop with all this gated nonsense and extreme hand holding – its insulting. It was perfectly fine before.
Lvl3 – off to frostgorge we go!
OMG So true. Love this video
Thank you, this is perfect.
+1
Potentially the worst patch update I have ever seen in an MMO. The balance changes are good, but the leveling changes are atrocious. something must be done.
But you have a sensation of accomplishment now!!
Bumping, Anet needs to see this.
