Hello, i’m looking for your advice on norn morphology here.

Lorewise, my wonderfull norn ranger was born from a human father and a norn mother. She has always been secluded from the norn community and went on a mission to reclaim her family reputation, by succeeding in “the great hunt” and then being one of the heroes that defeated Zaithan.

Her bodybuild is quite normal i would say, and she is the smallest a norn can be. While looking for the perfect armor set to transmute my ascended armor on, I fell in love with the magitech pants and shoes. Before buying an armor i like to visualise it through the pvp locker, and i found that the skirt of the armor clips in the hips. To match that i’d also like to go for the Kodan chest piece which also bugs me at the hips since it goes way to large.

My question IS i’ve gotten my hands on a total make-over kit would choosing the slimest body build help my case or the armors are only based on the race ignoring your body build ? Any screenshot would be greatly appreciated.

Alas, Taku is correct. According to the wiki, and the devs, the races couldn’t have interracial relations that produce offspring. Which is really too bad, ecause I used to fancy my Necro as a Norn/Elonan mix…

Back on topic,
I am not sure that choosing the slimmest build is the best remedy. If you’re happy with your build, then I would keep looking until you find one that works for you, or maybe choose a build that is more balanced rather than more exaggerated.

In the end, I chose the most muscular build for my Norn, which also has relatively large ta-tas for the build, and I have not had a single problem with any of her armor. Except that I haven’t found what I like for her yet.

It’s just annoying that a gem store armor that your bought for quite the gold clips don’t you think ?

Armors do not ignore your build type. One of my friends uses the thickest/most chubby (Or whatever you want to call it) female norn body type, and armour noticeably clips through it, while this doesn’t happen with a slimmer body style.

This is also very noticeable on human males if you make them max muscle or max skinny. Arah shoulders turn out really weird in comparison. (Though this probably isn’t relevant for you)

So to answer your question, Yes. Your body type does affect armour and it’s clipping.

I think you should keep the body type.
My female norn has the biggest body, and she is wearing Light Ascalon pants. They clip with her butt, but I can dye the pants so you can’t tell unless you look really really really close. And if someone had their face that close to my norn’s butt, she’d probably pound them anyway. Idk if you can do that with the outfit you want but honestly, it’s arenanet that needs to change, not you. The majority of female norn players have the skinniest or near-skinniest body type, and they all look very same-ish.

Yeah i agree, though i want my norn to be an intermediate between the skinny humans and the massive norn ladies people make. Sadly, there is no intermediate because it’s either you choose the skinny and skimpy or you choose the massive and warrior look.
I’m one of those person who prefer T2 over T3 for exemple

The male on the left has the thickest/most muscular body type, while the male on the right is around two types down. Note how the shoulders are much more deformed on the left male.
