I’m giving up on PC gaming, except for casual stuff.

Gw2 was my last hope — and it has seriously disappointed me. Buffing warrior longbow but failing to deliver PRoMISED ranger buffs? Broken events? The massive failures in Lost Shores?

No, PC gaming is pretty dead, except for shooters. GW2 was my last hope for a fun MMO, and it has become more chore than fun.

So I will spend my time on photography, writing, and various projects. GW2 is the last disappointment.

Also playing Swotor which i found at Amazon for 10 bucks and its ftp now. Not going to unistall GW2 just don’t care to login anymore for now. I do prefer the scifi games more than fantasy.

Now there is crap load of new dungeons, housing, new maps, +10 to level cap and they don’t have black lion chests\con…something chests\mystic toilet and dimnishing returns so you will more likely fill shortage with GBP\EUR\USD currency.

I’m just saddened and disappointed by this whole thing, in fact very upset.

When GW2 was announced I bought into the whole ethos Anet gave about the game.
Its not just the monetary value of purchasing the game i feel cheated out of.
Its the 7 years of my time i put into GW1, 7 years of money I pumped into Anet with the purchase of all the expansions and stuff from the cash shop.
I even pumped hundreds of hours more time to grind out the 50/50 HoM to be prepared for GW2, on the back of Anet promising no vertical progression in GW2.
And in the first couple of months of GW2 I spent a fair amount of hard earned money in the GW2 cash shop.

I chose to invest a lot of time and money into GW1 as it provided the one thing most other MMO’s didnt, horizontal progression. Otherwise I would have chose another game at the time if I wanted vertical prgoression(ie WoW)

I continued to invest time and money in GW1 because Anet had promised GW2 would be horizontal progression and absolutely no vertical progression.

This change of manifesto and ethos less than 3 month in the game has just knocked me for sideways and I have lost all interest and love for the game. In fact I have lost all love for the genre and certainly lost trust in Anet.

So i reckon i be firing up my PS3 or xBox and just lark about on some non-indepth games from now on.

This sums up how I feel and what I’m going to do.

I have been a devoted fan of Anet for six years, spent more than 6k (!) hours in Guild Wars, made multiple GWAMMs, filled HoM with 50/50 and pre-purchased Collector’s Edition hoping that GW2 will be THE game of my dreams. After three months, the only thing that’s left are shattered dreams. The top of the iceberg was today’s event – I could not log in at exact time, thus missing all the exotic stuff.

I’m done with the game. For good.

I haven’t decided if I’m flat out leaving yet, but it’s tempting. For me, I’ll be moving on entirely if I do uninstall. I expected GW2 to be “the one” having never had the chance to be with an MMO since its inception before, and planned to be here for years to come. The direction it’s heading however, ick…there’s nothing else out there that exists or is on the way that interests me. It’s just as well, finishing college in a month, this might be just the kick I need to be more productive. I think I’ll just leave this world behind entirely. Shame if it ends up GW2 that finally numbs me to video games.

Still playing LoTRO: Riders of Rohan.

Also, stopped playing The Secret World with the full intention of going back to it eventually. Issue 4 looks about the right time to go back – new raid, 2 new Accessory Weapons, Albion Theatre, Fusang Changes, more focus on Faction rivalry that made the game great in the first place.

Also well aware that Planetside 2 is right around the corner. And I still have to get around to playing XCOM:Enemy Unknown.

Anet should really prioritize their shiz.
Legendary Precursor is by far the worse design in the entire game.
It doesn’t matter how long you spent or how many things you do, it doesn’t matter how good you are or how many achievement you’ve got, some people will get it pressing a few buttons while others will be grinding for month and month.

This design is so outdated it puzzle me how they could use this in 2012 and feel like it’s something of a long term goal.

The fact is, Legendary only becomes a long term goal until you actually have the precursor. Without it, legendary weapons are but mere dreams for the folly. If Anet doesn’t address this issue fast, more and more people will be like " sod it" and just quit, instead of spending their time to craft the legendary and enjoy running around with them once they finished.

I’m quitting this game, this event just showed how bad everything works, maybe i’ll just come back on some special events.

First of all, i got DC for no reason in middle of the event and had to join the overflow again where they were far behind, so overall i spent like 4 hours there.

Then suddenly my guildmate comes when we’re about to kill ancient karka and asks me “Did event started ?”. He came at the end to kill karka, we both killed him. He opens chest, i open chest.

I got some exotic gloves and bow worth overall 1,5 gold. He gets the Colossus.

The Colossus for 5 minutes of play.

I am not even jelly, this is just frustrating, this whole RNG is. Then there was a feel of a huge waste of time while doing that event. Srsly i seen like 20 people just go afk and wait cause it was so boring.

I honestly don’t know. I just feel lost, empty. GW2 was supposed to be it. I’ve been playing a little Minecraft again, but I’m a gatherer not a builder, and I’ve gathered pretty much everything already (1800 diamonds mined). So I usually just end up standing around watching crops grow, even though I don’t need them either.

I won’t go back to GW1. Same situation. After seven years of playing, I’ve done everything.

Maybe I’ll replay Kingdoms of Amalur. It has DLC out for it now pretty cheap…

If I did quit GW2 over the loot issues, I wouldn’t go back to GW1. I made sure I did everything I wanted to in it before GW2 launched. I decided a while back MMOs aren’t really my thing, the grind, the gear chasing, the RNG and general focus on this concept of progression and not the player experience. I value my time and the illusion of fun and a satisfying experience created by grind and loot is something I consider to be a waste and on par with a life spent in front of the pokies. I’d rather play a game which offers a quality experience and satisfying content that I enjoy because it’s fun and challenging, not because I had to run it 50 times to get the gear I wanted.

I genuinely thought GW2 was breaking the mold but it seems they are shifting so much back into mainstream norms and are becoming more of the same rather than the innovative and progressive MMO they promised they would be. If I do leave GW2 I will do so with the firm belief that ArenaNet failed to deliver on what they set out to do. I don’t believe another MMO any time soon will do so, this feels like a set back for the genre, and so I will just be done with the genre.

I tried to go back to GW1, but the pvp(gvg) is dead. I am still playing WoW arena sometimes, but the grind to get to 90(MOP) is horrible. I was never a fan of WoW because of the forced grind and unbalanced play, but the game is pvp wise a lot better then GW2 at the moment. Maybe when GVG, arena or HA returns, I might retry it, the current sPvP(or www even) has nothing structured with it and is a waste of time.

Maybe I try Planet Side 2(fps), but i think i got tired of playing MMO’s and grinding all those years. I just want to get into action, play and win by skill and not have a disadvantage because my gear is slightly worse.

As you can´t stop paying subs it´s somewhat hard to quit a (quasi)F2P game, the question is if ANet will get anymore of my money.

The answer is no, Turbine probably will when I try going back to Lotro.

Compared to here the gfx are atrocious and the fight system will feel glacial, but I guess that feeling will pass after a week.
CCP´s EVE Online grindfest would´ve been my old goto, but I´m not playing yet another guinea pig in some loudmouthed dev´s new vision of awesomeness.

Already uninstalled the game. I’m not gonna play anymore neither support ANet, NCSoft a/o Nexon in any way, shape or form.

Short term, I’ll re-activate my TSW account and finish the story there (the lore and the writing rocks!), maybe do some World PvP as well. I pretty sure that TSW is going to be the last themepark I play, from now on I’m going to avoid this subgenre as the pest, no matter how much they advert them as “open world” or “free-form” progression.

Fortunately, the ones that look forward to complex, virtual world and free-form progression may have some titles to look out for:

World of Darkness, Everquest Next, Arche-Age and The Re-Population.

I would like to try Elder Scroll Online but I suspect it’s gonna be the same old, same old WoW clone but with good PvP and DEs.

Also, I have reactivated my Ultima Online account: It’s mind bogglin’ how a 15 yo game has better, much complex mechanics, with free-form progression in a virtual, living world. Definitely, WoW – its fatal influence – was the worst thing it could happen to the genre.

NOTE: This is mainly for those that came from GW1.

Just out of curiosity, if/when you quit playing this from whatever reason, do you go back playing GW1 or are you just gonna move on completely?

I played GW1 for around 7 years on and off ( have ~7300 h played) and the same could happen to GW2 but unlike the former, it’s future doesn’t look very promising to me.

I have not decided to quit GW2 altogether, yet…
But, my last log in was a week ago or so when the details about Lost Shores were first disclosed and the huge mess on the forums started. Since then, i’ve been questioning myself if this is the game i waited 5 years for and if i want to put time and resources into or consequently, support the game by logging in.

For the time being, i’ll just visit the forums to monitor the “progress” of the game through patches, content updates and expansion.

The irony is, not long ago, i was posting in defense of Anet telling people to be patient and let the developers fix and tweak the game and work their “magic”…

… time will tell.

Moving away from MMO genre completely. I’ll most probably go to single-player games.

This will probably be my case aswell with some dota games on the side.

I’m going to put the game on hold for a bit, both from me having an examn to pass at the end of the week (and yet I take time to sit here and type this instead of studying) but most of all in the light of how utterly horrible the event was implemented, carried out and finished, on top of the complete throwing away of the original game design manifesto of “no gear treadmill in GW2” in introducting the new gear.

I won’t lie and say that I don’t feel let, BIG TIME by ANet, nor that I have pretty much lost the incitement to stay with the MMO genre after 10 years spanning various more or less successful games in that time. I’ll properbly head back to Minecraft/Tekkit, or even to solo games like TL2 and stay there while monitoring the progess/infractioning of GW2 and its future content….

So I just uninstalled. Loved the game until now though and easily got my money’s worth out of it. Anet had just decided to go in another direction than I wanted and if that is what makes them money, then more power to them.

I played GW1 on and off for a few years, but I don’t think I’ll be going back. I’m done with MMOs at least until Elder Scrolls Online hits (although I’m giving it a few months before I jump in, won’t make that mistake again). I’ve got a large Steam backlog that I need to get through anyway.
