Those without Legendary's
Well i pride myself in knowing every recipy i can. So at the very least im leveling to 500 and working on getting one of each recipy/item. Got a lot of work ahead of me but frankly this is how i like to play the game.
I’m not even going to bother trying to get any of ascended weapons. It’s just another arbitrary and boring grind.
I basically feel the same way about legendaries.
I understand you there but I feel confused as before this new patch I was happy just working towards my Legendary and now this pretty much screws things up
Well considering they conflict with each other I don’t really know now….
Why would I say… craft an ascended Staff if I also want to get the Bifrost?
Should let ascended weapons be used to craft precursors.
Well…. t6 mats are dropping in price drastically…. so I’m finishing my last to gifts and making my Legendary.

Legendaries…not really interested. A year into this game I am having a great time and haven’t missed them.
I am not going further than exotic
I play alot but I do not enjoy grinding
I never had more than 20 gold like this entire year lol
So I was wondering what those people who don’t have Legendary’s are doing…
Are you now trying to craft your way to 500 in order to get an Ascended weapon or are you just still going for the Legendary
I personally am forgetting the Ascended since like a lot of others think they require a huge amount of money, effort and time…but what about you?
First off I spent around 200g in trying to craft my way into getting a dusk through the mystic forge.
I never got one, so I wasn’t able to get a legendary. Go figure, bad game is bad.
Now they want me to level crafting again even though I dropped 200g crafting exotics 2-3 months ago (lol) in order to craft a ridiculously grind-intensive ascended greatsword that actually looks like 100% crap compared to legendary skins.
I think I’d rather quit the game to be honest. As far as I’m aware nobody asked for this intense of a grind when they asked for a gear treadmill.
They want us to do 20 different things and spend 100’s of hours of grind in order to do it, I’ll pass, I’ve already wasted enough time in this game and got shafted for it through the mystic forge.

I’m continuing on my long process of getting a Legendary.
I won’t be bothering with any ascended weapons
I don’t care about either. I’m just going about my business as normal. I’m not going to grind away for something. I play to have fun and if an item requires me to go out of my way grinding junk and spending a bunch of gold just to get one sword or whatever I’ll just pass it by.
I got really lucky in the forge a couple of days ago, and am on my way to getting the shield.
But besides ectos and obby shards, the mats don’t really compete with each other, so I’ll work on getting my other weapons to ascended quality. After I get my sword and bow, I’ll see how close I am on my t6 mats and clovers till I decide if it’s worth it or not for an ascended shield. Also don’t forget guys, they’ll be giving us ascended armor by the end of the year, so really as soon as the weapon grind dies down, the armor grind will pick up (I hope each piece of armor isn’t as bad as a single weapon).
I have a legendary on my main. My other characters and my main’s offhand can make due with ascended.
TBH most of the legendary wasn’t that bad at all. I still have enough skill points and karma to get enough clovers, I still have a gift of exploration and enough badges for the gift of battle. And I’m sure I have enough dungeon tokens for just about anything. The gifts of might and magic are where it lost me. I don’t see farming/buying/saving up a stack of each T6 mat again any time soon.
Dragonbrand
I’m going to stick with Exotic stuff for the forseeable future. I have 5 characters at level 80 and not a single one of them is fully decked out in Exotic just yet, so going to do that before I bother with Ascended (and as a bonus, crafting the exotic gear I need will help raise my crafting level for when I do start working towards Ascended).
Ascended weapons are no where NEAR the amount of money and time and life wasted going for a Legendary. You will spend more gold on a precursor than on your entire Ascended weapon.
I have everything I need for an Ascended weapon (barring the new ingredients) RIGHT NOW in my collection tab. Just playing whatever conent I want, no Mystic Forge RNG, no sitting duck in WvW for World Completion.
There’s no reason not to make an Ascended Weapon unless you’re days away from finishing your Legendary.
yea I was hoping they put more fun into getting these items..but alas, it’s just another boring grind. this game is filled tot he brim with grind after grind after grind. Anyway, I’ll probably just keep slowly chippin away toward the legendary.
I’m still going for a legendary, just slowly. I’m a very lazy MMO player. I’ll get it when I get it.
Ascended stuff doesn’t bother me really nor am I changing anything I do normally. I just go where all the people are and listen to them blab about ridiculous things. Sadly invasions aren’t as frequent anymore. People love gabbing during those.

I shall continue to ignore legendary weapons and all ascended gear other than amulets. I find enough things to do as is without trying to add gear requirements to the list.
Main? What “main”? I play all of them sooner or later.
I got my predator just recently and have to say that while lots of engies feel shafted from the kit-nerf-through-lack-of-buff, I’m glad I don’t have to worry about ascended crafting on my main too much. I’ll be saving the materials I get and eventually making myself a harpoon gun, but I have to say its nice having only one terrestrial weapon to worry about.

No interest in either ascended or legendary.
i’m not interested in making a legendary, i’ll only consider making one if I get a prec drop from a mob.
as for ascended weapons, yeah i’m making a few, it will take a while but I want them for my fractal toon.

If I get enough materials to craft an Ascended then maybe I’ll do that sometime, and if I ever get a precursor for a Legendary I like then I might work toward that but I’m not going to chase either of the things down.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Starting to work on my legendary, managed to receive 2 Dusks within 50g and can easily sell one to get Dawn. Though, it sucks that Anet took away the badges from the achievement boxes, now I gotta work my butt off to reach 500 badges.

lol you got 2 dusks and only spent 50g?
I spent 200g and got nothing.
This is what’s wrong with this game right here. This is why I quit the game.

I’m not going for either… if I get one someday, ok, but for now, I’ll keep on keepin’ on with my exotics until it gets to the point where I can’t do what I want to do.

Either way , the point is its bad game design. 100% luck shouldn’t be a factor when talking about about gear in an MMO. This is not a diablo game, this is a mmo. If someone earns the gold by spending a lot of time playing they shouldn’t be rewarded with absolutely nothing.
When talking about the challenge of creating a legendary item, I don’t think 100% luck should be involved when talking about attaining the simple precursor to the legendary.
In my opinion, its absolute terrible game design, and like I said, I already quit the game months ago, in fact I just uninstalled it for the 2nd time a few hours ago because I refuse to play something so poorly designed.
I’m glad people got lucky by getting precursors, but if you were in my position you would have the same point of view. A luck system in order to get a precursor is one of this games biggest downfalls.

Im not saying that i agree with the system. I am just saying that you really can’t be mad at your luck because you were aware of the risk when you spent all of that gold. You knew it was a risk. Whether you spent 1g or 1000g, it is not any more or less fair if you did not get what you wanted.
I’m still going to craft to 500 just to have a character that has all crafting maxed. I may not always have the gold for something but I hoard enough mats to usually make what I need.
I may or may not get a legendary. I would like one but I keep spending my gold on something else like dyes.

Except that if you make an Ascended weapon, it will be later surpassed by the next tier of weapons — forcing you to grind again, and then the next tier comes, and so on. But if you make a Legendary, you grind only once.
If only you could put a non-Legendary skin on a Legendary weapon and still keep the Best-in-Slot status, that would be optimal.
As for the OP: I’m skipping Ascended for now, but I fear that will leave me way behind when the armor comes, and then the next tier of gear. I WvW 90% of the time, so the extra stats do make a difference.

then explain how one person can get 2 of them with merely 50g. That makes no sense.
Yeah, prices are jacked up the wazzoo in the TP and why wouldn’t they be? 200g is A LOT of chances, way more than other people needed.
I don’t really care what the prices are on TP. When I put 200g’s worth of chances into the mystic forge, I expect results.
Hang tight guys. I’m sure they will bring in other ways to get these weapons just like with the trinkets.
That’s an excellent question, and one I have been pondering myself!
I don’t have a legendary. I have a lot of the stuff I need to make one – Gift of Exploration, Gift of Battle, enough karma for everything needed, enough skill points, enough gold for icy runestones. But I don’t have a precursor, I don’t have all the crafting mats, and I don’t have the dungeon tokens.
Obviously the critical question issue is the crafting mats. Do I burn my stash of T6 mats and ectos working my way up to 500 crafting and making Ascended? Or spurn the Ascended crafting and keep saving them for a Legendary.
Personally I’m leaning towards the Ascended. I’m sure I’ll be able to make multiple Ascended weapons before I could make one Legendary, and given that I have a couple of characters I play regularly, who use multiple weapons each, I think this will be the better way to go.
Starting to work on my legendary, managed to receive 2 Dusks within 50g and can easily sell one to get Dawn. Though, it sucks that Anet took away the badges from the achievement boxes, now I gotta work my butt off to reach 500 badges.

RNG is RNG. It’s pretty clear from the TP that the probabilities of getting Dusk or Dawn from the Mystic Forge are low enough that 200g is not going to give you a good chance at them.
As for “expecting results after putting 200g’s worth of chances.” That’s like saying you expect results if you put $200 dollars into the lottery. You gambled and lost. It does suck, but that’s basically what happened.

I know that’s what happened, you don’t have to tell me since I experienced it first hand. It blows. We should be able to craft precursors. I’m not reinstalling the game until they patch it in.
/shrug.
I do not participate in gear treadmills. While Anet can claim they don’t make grindy games, the proof is in the pudding. I go about with my exotics doing what I do, waiting on EQN.

Yeah I did that wasted a lot of time and mats getting almost all exotic recipes, and hey out of the blue, you gotta to relearn them, but you get xp, chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.
Insulting.
I don’t care about either. I’m just going about my business as normal. I’m not going to grind away for something. I play to have fun and if an item requires me to go out of my way grinding junk and spending a bunch of gold just to get one sword or whatever I’ll just pass it by.
This is how I feel. The current legendary process is an extremely boring process, which to me just makes a legendary pretty much junk, if it was a really fun challenging process then I would have more respect for a legendary and would actually go for one. Good thing there is a crap ton of fun stuff in this game, and none of them needs a legendary.
i’m working on my legendary right now. got my precursor already, and at the stage of preparing all the Gifts. farming everyday now to get all the mats. yeah.. this is Grind Wars 2.

That would be the difference between us. It does not bother me one bit. I craft just to craft. I enjoy helping my friends gear up. I like having my alts in the best gear they can be. I also enjoy the money crafting brings to me. Its not the first time i’ve crafted these weapons and it wont be the last time.
I figured if they added new legendaries that I actually like I was going to go for one, but seeing as that didnt happen I’ll hold off.
Not going to bother with level up to 500. The skins look very ugly imo, only the pistol looks good, sadly the pistol skills on my engi are the very definition of kittened.
I would like to make a P/P thief, sadly they only have 1 useful weapon skill.
All-in-all, Nothing in this patch interests me.
I was holding on hopeing this patch would have a lot of balance and class bug fixs. Seeing as it didnt I think ill take some time off and play other games, Prison Architect has been pretty fun. Maybe go back and finally finish the Skyrim story missions.
Without a legendary all i have left is to … sniff… play the game

Since I’m not going for a legendary, I will probably make a few of them. I’m not in a hurry though. I’ll do it at my own pace just like I do everything else in the game.
If I eventually save enough money for a precursor then maybe legendary. I will not really bother to grind for an ascended wep either. If it happens it happens. There isn’t that much of a point to it to be honest.
