Thought i would spell it out for em.
The community never speaks with one voice. Why do you get to be the spokesperson? I don’t particularly want more legendaries. Not more than I want other stuff anyway.
Nor do I. I couldn’t care less for legendaries. Please, do not speak for me.
I also don’t care about legendaries. I assume you mean SAB when you say “box”; that’s another thing I don’t really care about getting back. I do want fewer big promises for things that are hard to guarantee, though.
I for sure do not want legendaries, nor, as I am the biggest clutz in all Tyria, do I personally care about SAB…but..you can speak for me, as others do want them, some rabidly foaming at the mouth….
A simple bit of text
The community wants what they ask for, not what you the developers think they want. They want the kittening box
They want the kittening legendariesSimple.
I don’t want the box. I care less about the legendaries than about Living Story.
It’s not about what I want though. It really is about what the developers want, which of course is going to align with what players want, otherwise ANet wouldn’t be in the business of selling games.
The backlash from mikes post, the reason loads of mmo site are also backlashing Anet for going back on what people paid for. Not to mention the constant begging for the flipping box says otherwise.
There are a couple of issues with this.
The forum community doesn’t all want the same things. So the voices that are heard here don’t all go in the same direction.
The GW2 community as a whole vs the forum community are not exactly the same thing, what percent of the GW2 player base actually comes here, reads the posts and responds?
The backlashing is pretty much to be expected. When LS was the only things we got you would see constant forum posts saying “Give us an expansion”. So A-net puts LS on hold at the end of the season and works on an expansion. You then see the same amount of forum posts “Why no more LS”, or “content drought”… It’s impossible to please everyone, and more often then not it’s the people who are upset that will be vocal, while those who are happy with what ever is happening just play and enjoy it.

I thought I’d go see what “loads of mmo site”(s) are saying. My possibly inferior google skills found 4 or 5 news sites that laid out the bare facts in a couple of paragraphs about the announcement by Mr. O’Brien. One of them had a lot of reader comments full of backlash, but the site itself authored no such editorial comments. The closest thing to an opinion I found was one site saying in its very short article that we’ll have to wait and see if this decision is a wise one, depending on what content etc comes in April.
Can you cite your sources? And, if you wish to be objective, can you cite all the sites that are discussing it so this doesn’t just turn into a list of links to only the negative ones?
I’m not taking a stance here as to whether there should or should not be backlash. I simply would prefer to avoid vague smears that have no factual basis.
I want a Living Story, and for it to be longer than the previous one. Pretties can wait, we have enough pretties for now.
Yanno i wrote a long post but what’s the point
With updates and features being so badly thought out that they don’t function in the long run, be it legy journeys taking too much development time or updates having 6+ month gaps inbetween, its a problem that is always gonna be apparent so nvm.
I’m gonna go play Tree of Savoir instead.
Peace.
I’m beginning to wonder if there’d be as much of this ‘uproar’ had Mike O’Brien hadn’t announced the plans, and just went ahead with them anyway. At least they had the decency to tell us about it.

Yeah, well, that is very small comfort. I’m not going to give someone kudos because they tell me they’re going to do it before they rob me.

Or if they made the announcement after the April patch. Give us the shortbow and then say: “no more legendary weapons after this”. At least in that case if the April was awesome then hope would be restored on other fronts and the lack of new legendary weapons wouldn’t hurt as much. Unless of course the April patch isn’t going to be anything special.
