Okay first and foremost sorry about the forthcoming wall of text.
And my poor formatting.

I do hope the devs read this.
My original impression of GW2, This game is fantastic … i was dissapointed in the “cut scenes” and the pen-ultimate fight against Zhaitan.
Then came being level 80.

I was one of the very few lucky people to get a pre-cursor from the Kharka event and that held me through from originally getting that to around april as i grinded out all the mats and got map completion and got my crafting up to 400.

After that i was a bit lost with what to do so ran dungeons and the event train in Orr (till that was crushed and i have not returned to Orr since)
as the living story was kicking off i found it hard to follow the story and found myself going to dulfy just to find out what i had to do.
I found myself stopping playing around the the South sun updates and i would poke my nose in occasionally and see whats up.

i started playing again properly around the Origins of madness and still found myself heading to dulfy.

Now that Season 2 has started im grateful that its 90% instance based and is more like a story that i can follow and im sure many others are also grateful.
There is still grinding a plenty for the three people that like to do that but at least now i have a clue at whats going on and i actually feel like part of the story.
The only thing that worry’s me is the length of the seasons.
Are we already at the halfway point for season 2?
if we are so that means we have 2 more months of living story this year?
I dont like the sound of that.

Now with the release of the game in Japan and the sudden hush of the Dev’s due to people QQ’ing at broken promises the one thing i do miss is the “state of game” messages we used to get.

Im sure the good folk at Arenanet are working away and are super busy (god help you if your not) but just some sort of the things we have to look forward to would be greatly appreciated.

I love this game and i know there are many others that feel the same and i look forward to the content you bring us in the future.

Personally im looking forward to more story dungeons, Fractals (to a point)
Coming face to face with Mordy.
More pre-cursors.
The Fabled Pre-cursor Scavenger hunt.
The Eventual Opening of the Crystal Desert.
and the general creation of hell in a hand basket ive come to expect from this game and its constant destruction of Lions Arch.

Much love Arena Net … you still have a fan here.

TL:DR: Despite some foibles Guild wars 2 is still an amazing game.

I log back in after several month breaks now and again and find…
no capes
no mounts
no new races
no new classes or even new class weapon choices
a lackluster gem store selection
and I lose more hope every time that any of those things will ever change.

I feel similar, burned out. The complaints are always the same: no substantial content. Open world content may be fun and good (I really love the Tequatl 2.0 encounter), but it’s insufficient for me. I don’t want a gear treadmill but please add more elite content like in GW1 (FoW, UW, Urgoz’s Warren, The Deep, DoA) and the lack of it drives me to stop playing. The only thing I like to do is some legendaries and the new story stuff from time to time. It’s nice to have this, but you really should consider more instanced stuff like dungeons and raids. Bosses and their tactics with complex mechanisms and doing this together with a bunch of guildies is still the best MMOs have to offer imo.

‘would of been’ —> wrong

The complaints are always the same, from a handful of people who complain about it. 10? 20? 30? It’s not that many complaints when you look at who’s posting, just as there’s not much defense looking at who’s posting.

Yes, there are complaints and some of those complaints are legit. But then there’s a guy in this thread and part of his complaints are no mounts, which were never supposed to be in this game ,and no capes. Not all complaints are equal.

There’s still the question of who does what content how often. Seems to me that many of the people complaining are complaining about the stuff an expansion would fix. I believe Anet is working on a expansion.

I believe we’ll see new skills and the ability to use more weapons and quite probably a new profession in it. But you know, I’m just guessing.

The real thing is, for every one of the 30 people who regularly complain on this forum (and I’m pretty sure it’s not 30 but I’m too lazy to count), there are still people playing the game and enjoying it and not complaining. And obviously spending money in the gem store.

I’m sure everyone is tired of me saying it, yet by the same token, many of us are tired of the same repeated complaints over and over again, whether they’re legitimate complaints or not.

While it doesn’t fix the issues: take a break if you feel burned out. Really, a week away from Tyria can work wonders.

This is what drove me to write what i wrote.
The general forums are pretty toxic and im a lurker for the most part.
I love the game and while sure there are things that could be greatly improved i still think its one of the best MMO’s on the market.

It’s one of the reasons I keep defending. Left to their own devices, new comers to the forum might think the game is horrid. That doesn’t help anyone.

Oh it’s barely a wall of text, some people fill up the first 3 / 4 posts with only text.

I do hope the devs read this.

They keep telling us they do so probably they are.

I’m afraid you might be looking at GW2 with the wrong mindset. Or maybe that’s just the impression I get from seeing a list with mounts in it :P

I feel similar, burned out.

Burn out is a bit of a problem in GW2. I see some people with 5000 / 6000 hours of gameplay and I’m only sitting on 1700 hours so I can fully imagine someone having experienced the game 3 times us much as I have being burned out or perceiving their to be a lack of content (honestly 6000 hours? no way there’s ever going to be enough content to satisfy someone like that).

The usual advice would be A) take it easy take a break, GW2 is still going to be here in a week or a few months. Perhaps give a few other MMOs a try (or a few single player games). Burn out is inevitable, there’s nothing in this world which you can’t get burned out on if you hammer at it long enough.

Exactly.
