The concept is great but the application is horrible. To do orr /southsun, we can’t get everyone into the same overflow let alone get players to tag some of the bosses (karka queen I’m looking at you) before they’re killed. Same in the trains queensdale etc because some players’ computers /internets aren’t fast enough, they end up being punished. This is overall decreasing fun for some players … and don’t get me started on how in the world we’re going to be able to do bounties once you cause this megaserver to be all maps.

Please take some consideration and this friendly advice… you should be able to go into the megaserver at will if you are looking for players to play with (a sort-of EOTM for pve) but you should also be able to go into your servers’ individual instance.

I’ve only been on Diessa for a playable area map and it’s been great. There’s been chat, people helping people, more than two people killing the giant, and more. Its working for a map like that.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Totally agree SniffyCube. My guild picked Ferguson’s Crossing because it was a low pop server. We could immerse ourselves in PVE gameplay and enjoy our time. Now it seems wherever we go there are tons of ppl everywhere. Every map looks like a busy city instead of the wilderness it is suppose to represent. If I had a choice between megaserver and my own server’s individual instance that would be GREAT! The megaserver has its perks and if we needed to we could log in to it to get with bigger groups. But otherwise we would stay on our low pop server. Come on Anet, anything would help, as my entire guild is telling me now that this isn’t as fun anymore since this patch. Give us the ability to switch between megaserver and home server.

and clearly, you haven’t tried to do the Northern Shiverpeaks daily temple zerg. An hour wasted trying to get a map with contested temples and we still havent finished the run. Nice one Anet, kill it for us, we’ve only been doing it every day for 18 months.
Wherever you decide to put it, it needs a choice adding “go megaserver for this map, or stay on my homeworld”

My only problem with mega server is bosses like karka queen just do not scale enough to deal with it.

if u read how megaserver works you must realize that the game doesn’t see a random group of ppl with no connection between em (no server or guild link) as a group that needs to be put in the same instance. I believe they also said that the software tries to recognize ppl u play with, so if u do your worldboss train round same time every day, software will pick up on that and the ppl that r there. (at least that’s what i read btwn the lines)

When u do bounties however you ARE in the same guild and most likely also on the same server and in organized parties, so the game should put you all in the same instance of the map.
Don’t forget that even when it doesn’t automatically brings you to the same instance you still have the option to right-click and join in … on your party members.

This is a mayor server overhaul, and the devs have stated they are still fine-tuning the kitten out of the code that decides what instance it puts you in.

As for too many ppl being on the map: I really believe that at this time they just try to see how many ppl can be on a map before it gets too full, think its different when u have ppl all at same space (like teq) then when they r more spread out. I’m sure that once they found a good number, they wil put the soft cap for the map 20 or 30 ppl before that, so that ur friends/guildies can still easily join the map without getting stuck in different instance spamming join in… and bc of the way world bosses spawn now, even then they prob won’t miss then. (small hint, if they can’t join u, maybe u should try the join in button)

(queensdale train is something i will not elaborate on bc i think its just stupid)

tl;dr
MS = work is progress (same as mac beta, but thats something way different)

That’s too bad. The temple zerg was one of the few things that brought people together every day. I can see it dissolving if it gets too frustrating.

As for the choice to go to megaserver or stay on homeworld — that’ll never happen. The whole point of the megaservers is to save money on server resources (fewer map instances means less resources needed). Homeworld instances aren’t going to be in this game for much longer.

I have a question. Are they the same people?

Who remains in positions of influence on the live team that we have now that was part of the design vision when it was built? Totally different people?

IMO worst idea they had for the patch. RIP daily temple runs.. No one is going to waste hours just to find a event up. Anet better figure something out and fast for Temples.

This is really the thing I hate the most about the whole server-merging. Going so far as to include high-pop servers with established, friendly communities wasn’t worth whatever money they’re saving.

I miss my server already, dangit. TC, I hardly knew ye!

About the only problem I have with Megaservers is that it isn’t quite autosorting players the way I thought they would. There were four members of my guild up at the same time, and we decided to go to Shatterer. Two of us ended up in one instance and the other two ended up in another instance. We were easily able to join in on the same instance once we partied up, but I would’ve figured people in the same guild would automatically end up in the same instance.

Also, I usually end up in maps filled with TC, JQ and SoS. I’m from Maguuma. What gives?
