Tier 1 materials are worthless. They are needed for almost nothing once you have passed the first levels of crafting. You needs tons of T2 Iron, and Soft Wood and Thin Leather for late game stuff (Gifts, Ascended Mats, etc.), but you never need Copper or Jute or Greenwood. Please give us a purpose for them in the later game (aka the majority of time we will be playing).

T1 materials aren’t useless — they can be promoted (for profit, most of the time) to their T2 equivalents and those will always be in some demand, due to ascended gear and the most recent legendaries.

From a TP perspective those T1 mats are actually worth a decent chunk. So someone out there definitely finds value in them.

I sell mine on the TP all the time. I certainly don’t find them worthless.

Greenwood has a use – scribing for the pulp. I’m sure in time there will be more use for copper and the rest.
